Agree its very different watching a meeting live vs TV, but I found the meeting on Eurosport a bit of a borefest if I'm honest - and not for the first time!! I'm sure the crowd in Germany were delighted to see some of the world's top stars as they are usually starved of top riders but as for a decent Pairs meeting - whats the point when the scoring doesn't favour team riding. I can see 'gate and go speedway' anywhere and its usually better when there is something tangible at stake other than just money for those taking part. Riders dropping out mid-meeting for whatever reason didn't surprise me - Smolinski probably because he couldn't do anything riding the inside line; Pedersen because he was ill (why start then? Money?) and others when the track worsened.

So, was it a decent enough crowd at Leicester this evening?

Not at all. Last year's playoff guest situation was crazy BUT the BSPA have taken note of it and put in place an alternative. I would much prefer a situation without guests or doubling up, but what are the options?? I try not to criticise without suggesting a viable solution but I don't believe there is one. There have always been guests. Doubling up/down has started to be limited and controlled more. What else do you suggest? How else are clubs expected to cover for missing riders?

Well that probably paid for 2 or 3 of the riders - all of whom were expecting the same rates they get in Poland!!
