  1. 3 AGMs???? The main reason the AGM was in 2 parts is a constitutional one. The BSPA constitution (like most other associations) will state that the AGM must be on a specific date or in a specific month. When BSPA tried to do the decent thing and make some decisions earlier than usual ie in October, someone forgot that the Constitution says November - which is why the AGM had to be re-convened (and I'm sure the Constitution updated!!). We do know the number of EL clubs - 8. We do know the number of fixtures - just look at some of the club season ticket prices for the number of meetings (although that does raise the question of whether it is right to announce season ticket prices before teams are known??!) In many respects - from an administrative point of view - the BSPA is no different to any other national association. Its meeting minutes are made available to its members (the Promoters) and a statement/press release is issued to the public/media if and when appropriate as a summary of their key decisions. We are still a couple of weeks ahead of previous years.
  2. Matt Ford recently said there would be EL squads by 2017, having been pushing for it for several seasons!! Yet it suddenly becomes a proposal full of support because another promoter has suggested it!! Anyway, so a new rider to lead the Pirates according to the Echo article - I wonder.............??!
  3. But if Poland/Sweden go 't!!t$-up', then the British clubs will have a far stronger negotiating hand!!
  4. If you mean Robert Lambert - there is no way he would ride for reserve or a second string wages as he believes he is an established heat leader!!
  5. They didn't! Ellis had already spoken to Swindon and Poole and there were likely to be more fixture clashes with Swindon!! Rosco knows who he has selected from Tier 2, but theres a similar issue with potential fixture clashes which needs to be clarified before any announcement. Same with BV
  6. I think you are confusing what the PL averages were used for?! They are used for team building points within the 40.5. They were not used to rank the order of the Tier 1 list. The last/latest EDR list (as usual maintained by Neil Vatcher) has Newman as 2nd behind Garrity. With Garrity not in the draft and Newman protected by Poole, Poole would have had the last or 2nd to last pick of the tier 2 reserves, having firstly checked rider/fixture availability.
  7. Not missing the point at all. I agree with SCB's post. PL averages should not have been used - BUT THEY WERE - and we have to get on with it. My point was whether PL or a %EL figure was used, I do not see how that gives Poole any greater advantage in their Tier 2 choice, having selected Ellis on 3 points?! Yes a better way imo would have been to use a % of their EL averages for the Tier 1 riders - but then you would have various posters complaining that the % should have been different!!
  8. Surely the reason why PL averages were used was because they were the most real for everyone involved. All the EL averages were either inflated or deflated due to the EL protected race format. If Newman was either top or 2nd in the Tier 1 list (excluding Garrity) then why would Poole have had 2nd pick in the Tier 2 selection? As I said By the time Poole's choice came around they chose the best 3.00 still available, whose other fixtures only had minimal clashes.
  9. Give 'em a chance. The AGM part 2 only finished on Tuesday evening with some changes to what had been proposed at Part 1. Then they all had to go to London to ,meet the Politicians. They get rightly criticised for making announcements too quickly and leaving important details out. Lets hope that the extra time means that when the official statement comes, its a full and detailed explanation and something the new chairman is happy to put his name to?!. Lets not forget as fans we're still a couple of weeks in advance of previous seasons!!
  10. If clubs can't build to the points limit, its their own fault - nobody elses.
  11. So KL protected Kerr - why didn't they go for Ellis as their 2nd tier pick was before Poole??! You're just coming out with the usual b/s without knowing the facts
  12. Its not only Rzeszow though is it?! That's why so many riders are hesitating to put pen to paper!!!
  13. Finance shouldn't be an issue - Mick said he could get £2mill together quite quickly!!!
  14. I just knew that Ann Dora was a two-timer!!!!!!!!
  15. After protecting Kyle Newman, Matt Ford was always going to go for the best 3.00 reserve available in order to fit the rest of his proposed 1-7 within the points limit. It happened to be Ellis , with whom he'd already checked availability! Its why he didn't go for Starke (3.60) again.
  16. Kindly explain how Poole benefitted in 2014?? Newman (protected as a Poole asset) plus a succession of - no disrespect - no-hopers?!
  17. But one is a fact and the other is 'pie in the sky'!!!
  18. I'm sure these 3 are seen as the future for all young speedway riders!!!!!??
  19. It could be a lot more awkward if he said something else!!
