  1. Who is Statman? My head is spinning!!
  2. Its all in the timing!! The Echo interview will be exclusive when its published tonight/tomorrow and then doubtless will be shared with the SS for Thursday publication!! Don't forget the SS Chief Reporter and Speedwaygp.com reporter is Poole-based!! Ps. Not sure why you are bothered RMC - Didn't think you had any time for anything EL-related??!
  3. Not too much about Poole in the past 10 days so here goes:- MF is not looking to utilise the Number 8 option to start with although there are 2 or 3 young foreign riders that he wants to watch as to their early season form! Poole P&P day on Monday 14th March starting at 1pm, with admission to invited audience (Media, Sponsors, Season Ticket holders) from 1230pm - And then open to the public from 3pm when track practice should start. Exclusive interview in Wednesday's Bournemouth Echo with Matt Ford, discussing his future and what his hopes are for the Pirates after he's stepped away - whenever that may be?!!! I imagine it will also be in this week's Speedy Star?! Should provide a few hundred pages on here for starters.................................................!!
  4. So Eddie Kennett and Richard Lawson to share their position due to too many EL/PL fixture clashes early season??!! Have I missed that rule somewhere?
  5. New to EL now apparantly??!!! (According to MF!)
  6. According to some national sports pages today, Kings Lynn could well be missing Troy Batchelor for some of the early season meetings after his operation on his broken arm!!!
  7. Thought Lakeside signed Jonsson to cover any 2-5 absentees!!???
  8. Probably because Neil Vatcher's not there anymore!!? ;-)
  9. Much more professional than both those, so hope he's a Star sooner than later.
  10. There were another 200 acceptances from BSF members who said one thing (that they were attending) and then did another (didn't go!!) Lets hope there is a fully comprehensive summary in this week's SS?! I'm sure there will be and I'm looking forward to reading it - along with (perhaps) what the next steps the BSPA will be making are.
  11. I guess that means no GP riders and an amalgamation of ;leagues then for 2017
  12. I sympathise tsunami but often changes are announced with minimal explanation as to the reasons behind the change and no background as to what other options may have been considered?! As for the meeting today (which I did not/could not attend) it was said to be all about greater transparency, which I applaud . BTW any feedback from the meeting? There are already some on facebook who reckon it wasn't that well attended?!
  13. Any tracks close to airports or on flight paths might need to be extra careful!!!!!
  14. Mention of Thomsen was in the same context of being able to attract exciting riders to be squad members such as Madsen and Lindback (also named) who don't want a full season of EL fixtures. I don't believe Thomsen fits the criteria being spoken about for now ie an untried foreign rider to replace any of the 2-5!? But I may be proved wrong when the official statement is made, as the article with MF was before the BSPA meeting on Tuesday...........
  15. It has to be an 'untried foreign rider' (Untried to British speedway) to cover the 2-5 positions - but only if the club wishes to sign one?! It will undoubtedly help those clubs using doubling-up riders. Guests will still be used for the Number 1 when/if necessary.
  16. OK so maybe a series might not work - but perhaps a couple of forums (North and South?) would attract a much wider spread of opinion?! Periscope it! Video it! Televise it!? Any of those options would add to the transparancy of ideas.
  17. Or develop it into a series of say 4 roadshows (with a compere and a couple of top riders from each region?) that could go say North/South/East and West and make it a regular annual exercise?!
  18. Only 50 places left according to the latest BSPA update, so thats 250 already in attendance, which should make it lively!! Similarly I hope that the promoters present provide a reasonable EL/PL and geographical balance if possible. I'm not sure who the rider representatives are for the seperate Sunday morning meeting (SRA members??), but it was originally suggested that only 1 or 2 might stay on and be available for the open forum?! Whatever is discussed/agreed(??!) I do hope there is an accurate and extensive summary statement issued by the BSPA, which doesn't lead to loads of other comments on this and other forums about 'He didn't say that, he said this'!! and 'why wasn't that asked/answered?'.
  19. Much too wet and cold for synchronised swimming A ORLOV!! What are you thinking??
  20. As has been said before, the Boxing, Darts Snooker and even Angling on TV that Hearn got involved with are all sports for individuals over which Barry Hearn exerted complete promotional and organisational control. Even with his involvement there are still other Darts, Boxing and Snooker Promoters, organisations and competitions that still exist - whether they are seen as real competition is open to debate! As for taking over his local football club and attempting to transform it - well done. There are many other similar stories in football and other team sports , but they don't compare with taking on a whole league or association - be it for speedway or anything else. Where someone like Hearn could be useful is by taking on events such as the British Final and any other big individual events (even the SGP series, if you really want to see the rest of speedway struggle?!). The equivalent to Barry Hearn is the likes of One Sport in Poland and the new (UK=based) promotions company behind the World Speedway League!!
  21. The squad proposal is for an 'untried foreign rider' to be used as cover for any of the 2-5 positions. Kacper Woryna was certainly on Poole's radar as I said at the time Coventry signed him!! The other squad proposal is for each EL club to 'sign' a 2nd Tier 2 reserve to cover for reserve absences' The no 1 heat leader position would still be covered by a guest if required.
  22. Dreadful skullduggery!!! Just as well that doesn't exist in UK speedway!!
  23. Poole weren't invited by the new promotion after deciding against it last year due to cost!!! Pretty sure the financial implications will now be different with this new promotion having the contract for the next 10 years?!
