  1. Poole's Supporters club is the Rider Equipment Fund (REF). Its a paid-for club which uses the money from memberships and supporter events (quiz nights, raffles, forum discussions and the occasional river trip/barbeque) to give cash to each of the riders - usually £500 or so which is presented publicly during the rider parade at home meetings. Hopefully this will continue strongly but as with many things - one of the challenges will be to get some 'younger blood' on the committee in time, as some of the existing team cannot go on forever!!
  2. If Sky carry on with Wednesday meetings, then I certainly need to record those meetings and watch later as most Wednesdays I'm at Wimborne Road!! :-) Watching a meeting that you've recorded is better than on 'Catch-up' or On Demand 'cos its quicker to fast-forward the bits you don't want/need to watch in detail....!
  3. The only change in riding order for Wednesday is Hans and Buzz swapping!! It won't be Watt at reserve even after the 2nd away meeting is over ( thats the meeting at Coventry on Friday). Rolling averages will keep Watt in the 1-5 for the time being, but it could be Ellis (currently higher MA than Newman) replacing Kurtz by the 29th April!!
  4. I would think that Poole would be well within their rights to request a further postponement of what would be their first Sky meeting of the season??!! I know its not something that the away team can insist on, but exceptional circumstances and all that!!!! ?
  5. The context of the quote and indeed the whole article is clearly about 2016 - it does actually say that - and the rider selections that other promoters have made for their teams. Their selections were their choice as much as Poole's selections were Matt's choice. The rules on team building were approved and agreed - whether unanimously or not - and all had the same opportunities to sign the likes of Andersen, Buzz and/or anyone else for that matter. Just like after May 1st everyone will have the same opportunity to re-visit the original heat leader list again, if the points limit allows.
  6. Buzz wasn't on the HL list - you know the list that all EL promoters agreed to!!!! even though he does drop to 2nd string from Monday 18th!!
  7. To be fair in the Sky meeting on Wednesday it was clear that Swindon's riders were also talking to Russell - and it didn't do them much good then either!!
  8. I'd love to know what the BSPA/Go-Speed contract with Sky actually states?! Its not as if Sky even attempt to cover every EL meeting - let alone screen each one LIVE!!! It can't have total exclusivity otherwise other TV outlets wouldn't be able to feature any speedway on their local news/sports programmes, which means that each promotion must be allowed to 'give permission'!!
  9. What rules has Matt broken this year?? None. Even Mick Horton said that!!
  10. Saw a very graphic picture of Kacper's injury on facebook. It looks horrible and will require at least 2 operations - the first to clear out the 'crap' eg dead skin, dirt and infection. The second op to fix the wound. Hope he recovers fully and quickly.
  11. No I don't think it'll be Buzzzz that drops to reserve!!
  12. Doing a deal with Barker was primarily to stop other EL clubs from considering him!!
  13. Bring back Screensport, I say!!! Clive Fisher's a mate!! :-)
  14. UPDATE and an Apology. I have now had two email responses from the BSPA office!! Initially it was proposed that ONLY the Tier 1 EDR (ie the one with the higher starting average) would be eligible to go into the main team. During the interim between the various BSPA meetings which were to give promoters opportunity to consider other options and/or anomalies, it was then proposed and agreed that EITHER reserve could be promoted but only one could race in the 1-5 at any time. So at least we've had the clarification. Apologies from me to all those that understood it correctly. As promised a donation will be winging its way to the SRBF post haste.
  15. It is/was a FIM initiative - as my 2014 post stated. Castagna's longer term aim was for each participating club to host one round of the tournament. That was where the issue of money came into it, with riders insisting on getting the same rates as they got in Poland plus the FIM getting a 'staging fee' as well. That's what led to Poole's initial withdrawal as they would not be able to make a 'home leg' pay without an unrealistic admission fee and a restricted attendance capacity. Now the competition has a progressive sponsor - British-based but Polish staffed - so we'll see how it all pans out.
  16. Alternatively as the BSPA statement includes the phrase 'without permission', then presumably that means that permission could be requested and granted and permission given. I guess it depends who you know, rather than what you know?!
  17. ooh someone's woken up in a bad mood!! Having said that, in case you haven't read the Poole report, I thought it quite fair and it gave much credence to the Lakeside riders as well as pointing out the negatives of the Poole performance.
  18. Jeez, light hearted posts are usually accompanied by an emoticon - as this one was with a 'wink'!!!! Thanks for only quoting part of the post. I guess it suits your PL 'I used to be a speedway presenter so everything I say must be right' attitude. I'll try to find a suitable emoticon for 'winker'!! (Damn spellchecker!!)
  19. I wonder where Chris Holder will be racing on Friday 22nd?????
  20. Why wouldn't any club report emphasise their own club?? Its only likely to be read regularly by the club's own potential fanbase. Having said that, the Poole report on the home meeting gave due credence to Lakeside's 'stubbornness' in the first half of the meeting before Poole pulled away - not dissimilar to Friday's reversal.
  21. It wasn't me who first used 'an 8 point average' as an example (it was Aces51 I think). My point was that if Newman (or Auty, Howarth, Worrall) finishes the 2016 season with a 1-5 spot and an average potentially equivalent to a good 2nd string/3rd heat leader position, then they will have earned that by riding in 'stronger races' and therefore could be considered for a 2017 1-5 place. Lets not forget that one of the proposals on the BSPA AGM table was for one or both second strings to be British!!!
  22. I thought BV might have been allowed to strengthen up a little in order to compete more strongly rather than just go with no chance of winning - (not sure what rider assets BV have!!? Thats why Poole declined initially.
