  1. I thought the current SGP leader got on with it very well at both Swindon on Monday and Poole last night!! As was stated a few times on the Sky meeting yesterday, if the track is below par and unusually prepared (too much rain etc) it usually benefits the away team as evidenced at Wimborne Road last week (A result I have no qualms over---- but Poole did have Kylmakorpi guesting!!) I admit to finding it a little strange that Peter Adams singled out former Lakeside rider Bech for not being able to give advice to his fellow riders but did not have a similar go at former Lakeside -and more experienced - rider Kylmakorpi?! If I had been in Adams shoes I would have told him shut the f#*k up and get on with it. A bit like MF told all the Poole riders!!
  2. Just to give a slight clarification to Matt Ford's programme notes referred to by Shovy - What was actually printed was "This is our last home meeting for a long time and at some point later in the season, we plan to gather the thoughts of our supporters as to whether or not you would like to see more speedway. ...Of course, we realise there are financial implications. If we ran more often, would people be able to afford to attend the extra meetings? I would be interested to gauge the feeling." To me this reads more like sounding out the fans for next season rather than this. Maybe all clubs will be seeking their fans opinions as to how speedway might be structured in the future. Many have been questioning the longer term sustainability of the EL in particular - maybe fans views will be fed back to one of the BSPA's pre-AGM meetings.??
  3. Well everyone has to have 2. For the likes of Poole, Wolves, Leicester and Swindon there just aren't enough decent quality Brits around!! Although quite what that has to do with anything I'm not sure??
  4. Just watched the meeting on 'Catch-up' as I was out watching some other decent speedway at Wimborne Road. It struck me that as good a rider as Kylmakorpi can be, he seemed like 'the bad apple' in the Wolves team. Complaining about the track and clearly very vocal in the pits, is that why Wolves fell away in the latter stages? Having chosen to voice his 'concerns' to the Sky audience about the tracks at Poole and Lakeside, I was reminded of exactly 12 months ago when he led the infamous Coventry riders' refusal to ride in the rain-affected defeat to Poole!! I wonder how many more guest bookings he'll get this season? Oh and by the way he top-scored for the Wolves!!!!!
  5. Poole were trying to rearrange their home meeting with Leicester for Monday 20th June - everything agreed between the 2 clubs and no objection from Wolves (the senior Monday club), BUT it was then pointed out that England are playing Slovakia in the Euros with a 8pm start!! If Poole's opponents had been anyone other than Leicester, I'm sure MF would have taken the risk?! ;-)
  6. Buzz scored 7 + 2 and deservedly picked up the Meridian Lifts Rider of the Night award. The track had been bladed and was very smooth. After Poole's away win on Monday the riders asked for the track to be prepared very slick - which it was!! When interviewed at the end, all riders said how good the track was, with many racing lines as was evident from the racing in several heats. Now we have 4 weeks off with no meetings home or away!!!
  7. Really??!! 4 miles in which direction?/ Its dry as a bone 5 miles eastwards at 3.55pm!! Latest local forecast was no rain at all.
  8. Apart from last Monday, Poole have performed pretty well on it considering. Unfortunately what Chris says about 'Away teams adapting to a track once or twice a year' doesn't really hold up for Poole's own away performances prior to Swindon - which is what MF was giving most of the verbal rollicking for.
  9. Should be ok for Steve Worrall then - last week's Rider of the Night!!! :-)
  10. .....and there are no seats to be pre-booked or allocated at Swindon either!!
  11. I'm not that close to the track but yesterday's persistent rain stopped in the late evening I think. At the moment its dry and overcast and he local roads etc are all dried out nicely. The latest forecast does show a few showers in mid-afternoon (2pm to 4pm) but with a strongish NE wind they should blow through quite quickly. Not sure who is working on the track today as with Lakeside at home and on Sky, Gerald (and Ronnie) will both be in Essex I guess??!! ;-)
  12. Are these 2 posts above (#1839/#1840) making any sense to anyone other than the poster?? If so any clarification would be appreciated...........
  13. Apologies if it caused any offence Lisa. :-) Anyway back to the thread. Today's prolonged natural watering plus a couple of afternoon showers tomorrow should see the track in decent condition.
  14. Should be a close (ish) meeting which I'll record and watch later as I shall be at the meeting of the other play-off hopefuls!!
  15. I think its more of a 'hard-on'!!!! The soft spot is somewhere above the neck and close to the middle of his shoulders!!
  16. My '60 point' comment was merely a tongue-in-cheek reply to Gavan's post. Not sure if Bjarne is riding tomorrow as Holsted have a planned fixture. If he's missing then that'll mean an extra r/r ride for Worrall, Brady and Kyle. Should still be a close meeting with a big half term crowd expected as its Poole's last meeting til 29th June!!!!!! Adam's average has been gained at reserve, heat leader and 2nd string. Worrall's is purely from the reserve berth. There has been some work done on the track in the few days available since Belle Vue but whether it sorts all the issues we shall have to wait and see. Same for both teams though and Rosco knows much more about the WR track than most other tracks anywhere else!!
  17. Enjoyed the meeting from Heat 6 onwards - the first 5 heats were just from the gate and very processional. A case of 'if only' for the Stars.
  18. Yes the almost 2 point difference in their averages shows that Worrall is clearly the better rider so I look forward to the 60 points tomorrow!!!!!?
  19. Well done to both teams. I knew it would be close but more than happy with 2 more points than I predicted.. Matt says 'well done guys - after Wednesday why not take the rest of June off'?! Well until the 29th anyway............................!!
  20. Poole do look good on paper. Paper is generally smooth with no bumps but can be a bit wavy. A close one today I think. Will depend a lot on how much watering is done and how late before the 4pm start!!! ;-) Poole to get at least a point after Matt's rollicking.
  21. Doubt you'll get a peep out of Gavan on this thread - its not Poole-related!!!
  22. ...and as we know from previous seasons, that may well be enough Lisa!! Hahahahahahahahahaha. That made my birthday. Gavan calling me a 'wind-up merchant.!!! Hahahahaha. lol
  23. People seem to be forgetting that whilst Buster is the new Chairman, the BSPA is still a 'democratic' organisation (I know there are many other descriptive words, but in the context of my post' democratic' suits!!). Any proposals for change whether from Buster or whoever still have to have a majority - if not 100% - approval!! I am sure his suggestion in the SS article of only having one EDR in EL teams will get the full support of the EL members. As to the rest we must wait and see. Any tinkering with the rules and regs ('cos that is all it is) will only become the usual discussion point of existing fans (and forum members?!). It'll do nothing to attract newcomers. Yes keep it simple so its easier to explain but that won't bring the hoards streaming (sorry wrong choice of words) rushing through the turnstiles.
