  1. The senior leagues in Poland, Sweden and Denmark only have 7-8 teams like the BEL. Whats your point of comparing them with what might or might not be best suited to British Speedway?
  2. I wonder how many on here will not be watching the next GP on TV??
  3. At some clubs its only the admissions, the programme sales and advertising that provide revenue to the promotion. They've already had the cost of producing the prog so I don't blame them for using them and good on them for advising of the insert. Whether its justified to charge the revised £2.50 is a separate argument.
  4. Just as a brief aside - England and Leicester footie bloke Jamie Vardy was pictured with a can of Red Bull and some nicotine stuff this week. Apart from a few lines in one of the nationals its hardly promted a huge outcry!! I bet there would be much more comment if he was shown with a bottle of Heineken,Carlsberg or Budweiser!!
  5. Why would Rohan have to take a r/r ride if Nick is missing?? Nick is 2nd in the Robins averages so all/any other riders can take a ride!!
  6. One of Matt's mates used to promote at Oxford!! ;-)
  7. Monster do produce a sugar-free, caffeine-free version!! Monster Energy Absolutely Zero!! :=-)
  8. Maybe - just maybe - Monster are trying to increase their market share in the over 40's age group - after all doesn't that represent the vast majority of speedway's audience?!
  9. A 5.40 average could make him a decent signing for someone later in the season if/when his form improves abroad?!
  10. I wonder if Poole will be changing to Thursdays?? ;-)
  11. I thought love was a two-way thing?! Clearly not by some of the Bees 'fans' on here who have wanted rid of him as soon as he was signed!!
  12. Strange no mention of Holder, Woffinden, Lindback with their Monster cans?! Nor Magic, Pawlicki, Hampel (when fit) of their Red Bull cans?! Must be just a Hancock thing...! Maybe its more obvious because he's interviewed so much due to his many continued successes
  13. Because they didn't need to at the start of the season as they had no double-uppers in the 1-5. That has now changed and MF has been quoted as saying he has 3 possible targets for a number 8 and saying that he is 'following all 3' to check their early season form before making any decision. Its well known that Woryna - a long time Poole fan - was the first choice for a number 8 but he understandably wanted a guarantee of a minimum number of meetings. So he ended up taking the Coventry offer of a 1-5 team place. I'm sure he's enjoying all the support he's getting from Bees fans???!
  14. Especially good for Chris Holder - able to keep his focus despite his young son Max being taken off in the ambulance. He apparently suffered some sort of allergic reaction (probably got too close to Pedersen ) but is expected to be released from hospital today!!
  15. The article did include 500 dwellings at the stadium and St Johns House - the latter being a large block nearby in what the Council are referring to as a 'tall buildings area' adjacent to the stadium and railway!! The only specific mention of the stadium was in the list of sites that added up to the 5000 dwelling shortage that Poole Council are facing by 2020. It is quite clear from the article - and previous reports - that the Council have a Town Centre Vision of improvements including new office, retail and housing developments. Doubtless Leisure and Sporting facilities are also included in the vision even though the Council cannot afford to fund everything themselves and will be seeking outside help from various private 'developers'!!
  16. IMO any 'amalgamation' of EL and PL will not see one big league of all teams neither will it see 2 (or more) regional divisions. There will need to be a 'senior' league which, depending on the format and costs, will consist of those clubs that want to compete at that level. There will always be the 'haves' and the 'have nots' - not always simply down to how good a relationship the promoter has with his bank either as catchment area, fan base, sponsorship and facilities etc will always play a part. Sky Sports (or whoever) will always want a 'senior' league that features some of the top riders. Many (not all) of the current EL club sponsors also want to see top riders in a top league. Whether the current 'top' riders and any others will be attracted to take part will depend as much on the number of fixtures/day(s) of the week as the money on offer. My own preference would be for a mix of the above - a possibly smaller 'senior' league (6-man teams?) with those clubs also running a separate team of PL standard. This would provide a manageable fixture list for those GP standard riders that want it, plus a decent standard and number of fixtures (league and Cup) for other non-GP riders to still earn a living. The 'senior' league fixtures could then be arranged away from the GP weeks and the other fixtures planned for other weeks ie not 2 home fixtures in the same week.
  17. What do people expect from an event entitled 'BSPA British Final Fans Forum', broadcast from the British Final venue, containing a panel consisting of the TV broadcast host, venue promoters and 2 riders competing in the final itself?? Simon Stead was no doubt asked for his hopes for world peace - but I don't recall his answer!!!! ;-)
  18. The difference being that Rosco later admitted he 'bent the rules to Coventry's advantage'!! (Don't like to use the word 'cheated'!!) :-)
  19. Matt Ford's statement said that he 'supported any moves to change the rule mid-season'! Surely that pre-supposes that someone else has already proposed it for him to be in support of it?! Incidentally, today Kyle Newman suggests reverting back to the 15 heat format before the EDRs were introduced.
  20. There were presumably witnesses to the alleged/admitted offences?!
  21. Many clubs have their own 'Hall of Fame'; 'Legends Lounge' or similar. Surely everyone that is included in those should be given free admission. Of course many do keep in touch with the respective promotions and simply have to ask for a pass rather than just turn up and argue the toss at the pit gate or 'guests entrance'!
  22. I know but there aren't any more EL meetings before Monday!!
