Belle Vue V Wolverhampton 06-07-2016
SteveLyric2 replied to GregoryM's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Are the TVs going to be showing the Wales match?? lol -
The fixed race night (or 2) for the EL has indeed been talked about for the last few years. Its so that those clubs that have to can sound out their landlords with sufficient notice and negotiation to change their night if necessary. The last AGM suggested it will come into force in 2017. If there is still to be a senior league with an attempt to attract the top riders again then I would put my money on a Weds/Thursday option.

Move Over The Elite League.

....unless you are a Swindon fan!!! -
All this talk of a merger or amalgamation is BS in my opinion!! There will not be one big league (+NL), there will always be a senior league/division as there is in every other country. Whether there can be controls - and/or incentives - in place on team building to make promotion/relegation effective - I'm not sure? My preference would be for 6-man teams from a squad of 8 or 9 riders plus a cup competition given full credibility by the powers that be to generate more fixtures.

I bet Phil Morris agreed to kit!! -
Its not just about Poole. Belle Vue have given guarantees to their paymasters that they will provide top class speedway including National and International stars and events. I can't see them accepting a lower level product. If Coventry and Swindon and Lakeside had no issues with their stadia then they would want senior speedway too if it can be afforded.

Darcy isn't going to complain - he's extremely grateful to receive any financial support!! However I can tell you that there are those connected with the administration of the Foundation that are far from comfortable with the apparent 'final figures' from Torun, so presumably are not taking the club's statement at face value. 'returns for the players'?? Whats that meant to mean when the riders rode for free? I accept there will of course be some stadium costs but why would they be 'very high'?? Questions still need asking of one of the sport's supposedly richest clubs??
-
I think there is something distinctly 'iffy' about what the Torun meeting is claiming to have raised. And its not the first time unfortunately that doubts have been raised about other Darcy Ward fundraising in Poland!! There are several Poole fans (and sponsors) beginning to ask some very probing questions about this - bearing in mind the equivalent Poole benefit meeting announced it raised about £50k from an attendance of 2,500 ish!!?
-
The squad would be no more than 10 riders (assuming 7-man teams) or say 8 riders for a six-man format. If there is a limit on the number of heat leaders/2nd strings, then the asset system is irrelevant anyway if a club can only declare a squad of 8 or 10. The extra meetings (if anyone actually bothered to read the articles) would come from 2 or 3 more teams in the top league - MF named Glasgow plus a couple of others (unnamed) with similar aspirations - plus a new Cup competition which would have the full backing of the BSPA, unlike previously, and a possible sponsor!! Clearly there would have to be some financial stability for those clubs in the senior league - also mentioned in the article - but lets not get ahead of ourselves as MF is yet to seek the views of Poole supporters to get their overview and preferences, which may be entirely different to any of those expressed on this thread/forum, including mine!!

Lakeside V Poole Friday 1st July
SteveLyric2 replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Just to be clear, despite the knowledge way back in January that riders would be missing, if Lakeside had stuck with Bjarne, would he still have been missing on Friday?? If Poole's meeting on Wednesday hadn't been rained off, he would have been in the Poole side not Denmark! Poole had a similar problem to Lakeside with Bjarne's fixture clashes but have worked with him to reduce the clashes down to 3 fixtures - not sure if Friday's was one of them as I believe they were concentrating on home meetings?! As for Buzckowski - he didn't 'rather decide he would ride in a re-arranged Polish fixture'!! It was the Polish Championship and he would have been banned if he hadn't taken his place. -
Do the likes of Mercedes and Ferrari actually sell or expect to sell more cars as a result of their Formula 1 involvement?

Oh well..........!

Lakeside V Poole Friday 1st July

With the track becoming 'dangerous' after the 2 hefty rainfalls, Poole would have been quite happy to call it after Heat 10!! :-) ;-) -

Why should it be any surprise that there are 'likes' for Poole posts, by Poole fans on a Poole thread? ....and that you have actually gone back to count your 'likes' as if it actually justifies your existence?! -

Don't usually come onto the forum this late in the evening, but couldn't resist just to see which posters were saying 'it wasn't really a Poole win because of the team they put out'!! I wasn't surprised having read all the posts!! I refer to my opening post #4 above - no issues for me at the meeting going ahead - its the home promotion's prerogative whatever the rights and wrongs. Well done to the Poole Seven this evening - that's six riders plus Middlo (great idea that afternoon phonecall to Eddie ) Great performance in difficult and challenging circumstances. -
Can I wish the new supporters club every success. In broad terms it seems very like Poole's R.E.F. (Riders Equipment Fund) with many similarities in aims and benefits/discounts. If I may make one small suggestion - I think £10 for an annual membership is incredibly cheap!! The Poole R.E.F. has its own bank account with a membership fee of £5 per month payable by direct debit. One benefit of this is that money is still raised over the winter months as well as during the season. Poole riders have regularly benefitted from substantial monies over many recent seasons. Just a thought and no criticism intended. Well done to the fans,
