  1. Very interesting article/explanation of the Charles Wright 'non-facility' in this week's SS!!!!
  2. No meetings next week though. Won;t they be updated again for 1st August?!
  3. Woffy wants King in so unless Rosco has other ideas, I expect it tobe Woffy, King, Lambert*, Cook and Ellis. (*only if Lambert is fully fit, otherwise S.Worrall)
  4. Good meeting to watch and as others have said credit where its due - the track was in teriffic condition. Not sure why Bees fans give Woryna so much stick - he scored in 4 out of his 5 races - so much better than half his teammates!! Ellis must surely have the edge over Bates as Team GB reserve - more so if Bates is carrying an injury?! NB. Noticed the Sports hierarcy from BBC South/Radio Solent were in attendance last night so maybe some 'live' radio broadcasts on the August horizon???
  5. The meetings need to have a point to them. The occasional friendly at the start of the season might be ok. but a smattering of meaningless 'challenge' meetings during the season - unless both sides are packed out with riders not usually seen on these shores - will not attract fans in sufficient numbers!!
  6. Could be a bit of cloud mid-afternoon but the 'risk' of an isolated shower or storm appears to have been dismissed. Temps around 24-25 this evening so agree with SS it'll be dusty after heat 2. Also once the meeting has started you have to bear in mind what the riders want or don't want re what is done to the track!!
  7. The Buccs didn't work for a number of reasons. Even admission prices as low as £5 on occasion did not attract enough fans. The gulf between EL and NL just doesn't suit many supporters - and branding them 'Bournemouth' didn't help with the identity either imo! If it works elsewhere then great, although I am a believer in a system that having an EL and a PL-standard team with some riders appearing in both sides together with the right pricing differential could work in providing regular fixtures.
  8. I'd be surprised if it did!! His trip is not as long as originally intended - partly because his benefit meeting at Poole has been deferred to March 2017 when more of the top riders will be available to attend. Darcy is over for the World Team Cup matches and is doing a Q&A at Poole on August 3rd after Poole v Wolves meeting. He is also intending to fit in Poland and Sweden so don't think he'll be here much after that until next year.
  9. If thems the rules then of course MF and all other teams will stick with their original squad - subject to injury of course.
  10. Pretty sure the BSPA dropped their objection to Brits riding in the Euros and Pairs - hence Woffy being the 'reserve' in the Monster Pairs team. Their original objection was to try to protect British EL Saturday track fixtures - especially Eastbourne's - but that stopped when Eastie went NL. Doesn't really affect Leicester. The other thing used to be that One Sport only announced their dates after the International speedway fixture calendar was announced - but I believe that is no longer the case and the relationship between BSPA, FIM and One Sport is now much better, hence the Kings Lynn challenge meeting at the start of the season.
  11. Clearly growing in popularity - there are 2 threads on it already!!!
  12. Another day of this weather and there will be a 'hosepipe ban'!!! Dusty again I'm afraid although there is a very slight chance of a light shower tomorrow!!
  13. Somebody reckoned Woryna got injured in Poland yesterday? Any truth? Hope not - it'll be good to see him at his spiritual home!!
  14. Just as well they didn;t agree with you then. Both Matt and Middlo stressed there is no pressure on Brady this season - other than what he places on himself. Its a learning year - learning new tracks and learning about EL and European speedway.
  15. This a thread primarily about squads and the possibility of getting some top riders back. . I only repeated the headline from the Echo. Magic is saying that he is open to a return if the squad system is adopted for next season. What's irrelevant about it?? Got a couple of you within an hour though didn't it?! You seem to (purposely?) misunderstand the concept of squads!! Its nothing directly to do with assets. Every team's squad would have to be named at the start of the season. Any riders not named in a particular squad would be available for other teams to utilise throughout the season. The skill would be in selecting a squad that suits most tracks and that fits whatever points limit is in place. Not sure how you come to the conclusion that Poole can offer more money than other clubs - they don't at the moment BUT they do guarantee that riders get paid!! Don't see whats 'unfair' about it at all. Sponsorship is of course very good at Poole which MF works very hard at not just in Poole but often much further afield. ReadyPower, FIS Chemicals and County Crest Pallets for example are not Poole (or even Dorset) companies, but they want the best for their brand and that includes seeing the top riders.!!
  16. None announced - unless there was anything said at the end of the Coventry/Kings Lynn meeting?!
  17. "Say the 'Magic' word"! www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/speedway
  18. Well MF and Middlo are seeking CCTV/DVD footage to see the extent of the attack and to see whether an official protest should be lodged?!
  19. This happened as Bjarne was going back to the pits after the Kerr crash (with which he was not involved). One of Kerr's mechanics had a go at Bjarne, mistakingly thinking it was Paul Starke, I believe!! Reportedly Jon Cook also shouted some obscenities but things were calmed down when Tatum stepped in, got the actual facts, told the mechanic that his behaviour was unacceptable, and also apologised I gather.
  20. Following more specialist physiotherapy and another x-ray, Kyle is due to have an official practice at Peterborough today. If he comes through the practice successfully then he'll be back for Poole on Wednesday - but he will not come back unless he feels 100% fit to return.
  21. Decimal points aside, Nilsson is declared as 2nd in the Hammers averages with Lawson 3rd so no way would AJ be allowed an r/r ride. Similarly at Poole on Wednesday Kim was not allowed an r/r ride for Eddie!!
