  1. Not sure where you get ex-journalist from?? Never was, never have been. I bow to yours and Wikipedia's obviously superior knowledge. The article I referred to was from last September re Lemo's proposed 'Farewell' meeting (rather than testimonial - my bad) which he decided to postpone due to darcy's injury
  2. I must be looking in the wrong place or on the wrong website as I can't find him. any chance of a link?!! How ever I do have an article relating to his testimonial plans which clearly states he' was contracted to Poole for the entirety of his racing career'! Not to worry, eh?!
  3. Just to be clear GI have yet to submit any plans for improving/redeveloping Poole Stadium. These are due to be submitted in September to include an upgraded stadium for only Speedway and Greyhounds but NOT football. The previous plans to re-locate the stadium within the same footprint of the Council-owned site, were submitted by Sandbanks=based property developer, former AFC chairman and (as of today) NOT major shareholder of Poole Town FC - Eddie Mitchell. His plans included bringing back Poole FC alongside the Pirates and the dogs, but crucially also including 500 dwellings (surprise, surprise exactly the number of homes referred to in the Poole Council plan!!) This scheme is NOT happening!! Matt Ford has been involved in discussions with Clarke Osborne and the council to ensure that whatever the improvement plans include - they should not disrupt speedway from taking place. However I think most Pirate fans would like to see a new grandstand plus an upgrade of the 'terracing' on both bends 1-2 and 3-4. We continue to live in hope and with a little trepidation.
  4. Strange that Speedway Star were still referring to Lemo as a Poole asset in an article a few weeks ago?!
  5. I thought Neil Machin and Dave Darcy were Leicester's official co-promoters after the owner's ban?! They are still listed as such! Has something happened to change that?
  6. Is that Lemo, the Poole asset?! What's wrong with the Jack Holder signing, which Chris4gillian says is 100% correct?!
  7. Maybe one of the conditions is for the Bees to get a strong team for 2017 - as per Horton's statement today!! ;-)
  8. Oh well at least we know what the weather is going to be like on 8th October!! ;-)
  9. Not so!! Under the new Allardyce regime England are looking at a 'friendly on September 1st - the rearranged date for Poole v Belle Vue. Unlike the planned Poole v Leicester meeting on June 20th which didn't go ahead due to an England clash, the September 1st meeting should be one of the meetings of the season with a good crowd whatever.
  10. It was virtually an EL team that won the 4s!! ;-) Why would the 'top' riders want to get involved in a weekend of 'away' meetings?
  11. We're talking mainly about home fixtures - you know that's where clubs take the majority of their income from - not away meetings!! If Poole had no away meetings it was because the home club did not want to risk a lesser crowd and reduced income than would normally be the case for a Poole visit, if there was a clash with the Euros!! As I've said before, something similar is likely to happen every other season (in the even numbered years) when there is either a Football World Cup, Euro Championship, Olympic Games in the same time zone etc etc.
  12. I don't see Kerr as a good example of Stars 'long term planning'. Where is Kerr riding again?
  13. I thought Lewis Kerr had quit Team Revolution or was it lewis Bridger you were talking about?
  14. If he hasn't actually said that - I bet the rules are amended or added at the AGM as none of the SCB officials could name the rule in question.
  15. Its about running a business and having a robust business plan. No point in also running NL if it doesn't at least break even!! As for training schools, its a little difficult when you haven't got full access to your own stadium facilities and anyway investing in assets and getting them trained up in competitive action at other clubs is much better planning - both financially and future team-building wise. All power to those clubs that can and do provide training facilities. Also to Neil Vatcher (part of the Poole family ) for all his work with the younger Brits. Long may it continue.
  16. Congratulations to Adam Ellis being named as the U21 Reserve for Team GB.
  17. Very true - but you wouldn't name the SCB Chief Graham Reeve or the SCB referee Dave Robinson without being pretty clear on the facts!!!! NB. No comment from Jon Cook or Kelvin Tatum I notice........................ Probably just licking their wounds.
  18. Bates and Harris were informed before last night's meeting that they weren't in the TEAM GB 1-5. Maybe that affected their performances worse than Nicholls and Worrall.
  19. I've said before, Horton only signed him to spite MF as Woryna was lined up as Poole's no.8. Kacper's heart has always been at Poole due to the family connections with Poole, but felt he was ready for a full season which Poole weren't able to guarantee this year. He has a skull & crossbones logo on all is kit except his Bees kevlars which Horton wouldn't allow. However he ends this season its not the last you'll see of him in the UK leagues.
  20. Just as well Team GB got a pass straight to the final then!!!!!!
  21. I wonder what Bates was like on his first visit to EL tracks?!
