I think the SGP series should switch to Sundays, giving much more flexibility for all the leagues!! ;-) -

How Do We Attract A New Young Audience?
SteveLyric2 replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think the 'powers that be' and fans for that matter, need to decide what 'younger audiences' they want/need to attract?! A teenager wants many different things than a 5-8 year old for example. 18-25 year olds have much more disposable income than ever before and probably wouldn't think of spending any of it on a 'family sport or activity'!! Speedway has long been promoted as a family sport and over all this period attendances have continued to fall - for combinations of several reasons, not all applicable in every area of the UK. Its one thing to target young teenagers who want to become riders - and well done to all the academies and to the work Neil Vatcher and others are doing - BUT that does not address the attendance problem. Recognise that the sport is fast, dangerous, extreme at times and full of rivalries - both individual and club-wise - and use all methods of media (both pre and post meeting) to build on those aspects. Couple that with a period of reduced admission prices and special offers - not just for one meeting but for maybe a whole month or two - and not expect the officials/referees to dish out fines for the slightest misdemeanour on track. Get the riders on board - turn a blind eye to the occasional 'finger' to opposing fans, make sure all riders do a winners' lap and really crank up the crowd. Lets get real people. Know your audience or who you want your audience to be and go for it. -
The Pzms New Two Team Rule.
SteveLyric2 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Surely any rider (eg Aussies etc) who base themselves in UK will need to have a job in the UK to meet their work permit/visa conditions?! So will that mean riders who maybe have families based here, changing their base to either Poland or Sweden or will it mean riders choosing British speedway and one other?? -

What are the other sports where the 'Directors' of all the clubs share all the information from their annual meeting with the fans?! Just wondering........ -

The Pzms New Two Team Rule.

Just to be clear its only the Polish Extraliga that is planning to introduce this (they actually announced it as a possibility 12 months ago!) I can't really understand why though?! Has any rider missed a Polish meeting due to clashes in the EL or Sweden? I doubt it very much. NB. on a related topic Poole have told Hans Andersen that they will not tolerate clashes with his Danish League meetings next season - so he has to sort it out if he wants to utilise the 2nd year of his Poole contract. -
Kyle Newman. Take A Bow.
SteveLyric2 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
As suggested on the Poole forum, Kyle (and Adam) should be Poole's riders in the ELRC on 8th October - assuming its still on?! -
Just home from a corporate function. seen the result but none of the coverage yet. Well done to the Wolves - clearly the better team over 2 legs, despite all the rider absences. Should be a good final - but my money is on Belle Vue - as it was at the start of the season. My team Poole not consistently strong enough throughout. Bring on the Blue Riband and 2017's restructured format!

Hans Back Riding In Poland Today☺
SteveLyric2 replied to Crazy robin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Except that the rule is a BSPA/SCB rule for British speedway not Speedway in any/every country. Poole weren't allowed to permanently replace Andersen until 14th September (the start of the 7-day window) after they had ridden their final 5 league meetings using guests - something that the vast majority of fans complain about. If Andersen's injury had happened one day earlier than the cut-off date for team changes, then the Poole team would have seen 3 maybe even 4 changes!! Poole tried to propose that the day after Hans' injury on 28th August but were turned down by BSPA. -

But it has been explained in the Speedway Star!! Whether people agree with the explanation is entirely a different argument (as PR stated before it was made public)! -

Judging by the number of posts.threads on this forum alone - I doubt 'total apathy' fits the bill at all!! :-) -
Not sure 'booked to ride' is correct?! He was asked to be on standby and was happy to be so for the chance of any extra rides that came his way - after unexpectedly having his Swindon season cut short!!
