  1. They'll both be fine at Leicester/Belle Vue.
  2. There were some personal issues with Chris - most of them off track - which affected him especially in the first half of the season. Davey Watt also had personal off track issues to deal with. They only become Pirate issues if/when they start affecting performances as Davey found out to his cost. MF certainly had words with Chris mid-season. Whether they can be classified as a 'falling out' or not is pure conjecture. I prefer to go with Chris' father, Mick Holder, who has confirmed there is no issue between MF and Chris other than speedway's numbers game which has disappointedly meant that Chris didn't fit into Poole' preferred 1-7. I'm as pleased as Chris that he has a place in UK speedway and delighted that he is professional enough to say the right things to his new fanbase. Whether his off-track situation affects his on-track performance we shall have to wait and see. I hope not.
  3. Chris'll be back at Poole full time in 2018 - no worries!! ;-)
  4. I have to smile at all the 'Matt Ford broke my story' boo hoo theorists!! If anyone thinks that every decent newspaper sports journo doesn't have direct contact with all their local speedway riders - they need to think again!! lol Maybe today was chosen to 'break the news' as there's another 'story' scheduled for tomorrow? Incidentally having got past the Kyle Newman and Chris Holder articles in the Star this week, there's an interesting 'Talking Point' in the Peter Oakes section about the media benefits of 'drip-feeding' speedway news rather than releasing everything in one go!!
  5. This thread has had the effect of restoring my faith in the Speedway community!! Well done BSPA.
  6. I hope Gavan reads this week's Speedy Star - a 2 page article on Kyle's progress plus a nice colour front cover photo that he can put on his bedroom wall too. Many happy hours ahead for Gavan!!
  7. Not sure it'll be Klindt that'll be the concern?!
  8. The Polish ruling was initially rumoured/reported/translated to be Extraleague plus one other league!! This was later changed to Extraleague plus 2 other leagues (one of which must be the rider's 'domestic' league - UK in the case of Aussie riders)! This was always going to have a greater effect on those Danes that had secured a Polish Extraleague place.
  9. Matt Ford said at last week's quiz night interview that Shanes would be under no pressure - just to go out and enjoy his racing. James also repeated that understanding in his interview. NB. Kyle won't be starting at reserve!!
  10. I'm sure Kyle will be over the moon to be the subject of so much debate especially on his birthday. I'm sure he's done little else today other than regularly check back on this thread. Or maybe his dad is doing the checking............!!?? :-)
  11. Yes but there are 'big bucks' and then 'bigger bucks' when he realised he'd have to drop one of his foreign team places!!!
  12. Why can't the Colts and the Storm ride all meetings at the NSS. Horton has said several times that the Storm are not financially viable at Coventry. Maybe its just a way of two promotions sharing any financial risk?!
  13. I only took the final PL averages from the BSPA site to illustrate the error in Gavan's (many) posts on the topic. Ippo have got a 2016 heat leader starting as a 2nd string in 2017 I gather - but I haven't checked all the averages so may be wrong. I'm surprised Gav mis-read my original post - something that he always accuses others of doing!!
  14. I knew there was something I liked about that river!! ps. Kyle Newman (PL) 2012 = 5.31 (reserve) 2013 = 5.32 (2nd string) 2014 = 6.51 (H/L) 2015 = 6.84 (2nd string) 2016 = 6.31 (H/L) Going from reserve to Heat leader in 5 years and putting 1.00 on his PL average despite various serious injuries is pretty good, steady progress really.
  15. Whats that got to do with anything? Its all online these days - same as the EDP and Coventry Telegraph.
  16. When the promotion/relegation thing was first announced after the AGM, wasn't there also something about 'parachute' payments (similar to footie) being considered for the relegated club?
  17. AFC B are likely to have the main Echo back sports page today and tomorrow with them at home to Leicester City this evening, so as one or two have said its a good use of sports media with a speedway 'story'!!
  18. Nice bit of a story to keep Poole Speedway prominent in the sports pages whilst AFC have the advantage this week!! Matt simply demonstrating what he stated at last week's quiz night interview. It seems to have worked on here too!! :-)
  19. Can anyone advise what the situation is with Mr Carswell??
  20. Surely Leicester fans don't yet know for certain what the race night will be under the new promotion?! That could have a bearing on what riders make themselves available.
  21. Not just Horton who hasn't signed - its also Brandon Estates the owners!! They are the ones that have called in the police!! nb. Beat me to it CB252
  22. Season ticket prices announced - £269 for 18 meetings; £220 for concessions
  23. I would think that the new promotion will include an existing promoter of some standing plus someone with a previous BV connection. 'Guarantees' as far as running speedway only will be made by the BSPA I guess. The council would then need to appoint specialist venue operators to maximise the return from all the other 'non-speedway' facilities eg Conferences, small concerts, hospitality and other sports etc.
  24. I didn't think Australia had a domestic league anyway!! Very unlike SCB to get it totally screwed?!
