  1. Not retired according to the Star this week - just disappointed at not getting a team place anywhere - yet!!?
  2. Sam Masters going like a train in Mildura this morning!!
  3. Quotes in Speedway Star say "Riders on the Aces retained list haven't moved elsewhere and are still waiting for more news although some potential newcomers have been spoken to about joining the club"!!
  4. Towards the end of January according to a BSPA statement in connection with the Coventry situation!!
  5. What about meetings on Mondays - Sky meetings or otherwise - and those that start at middayish??
  6. Perhaps because its got feck all to do with a Poole thread!!!!
  7. More pontification from the Sandhu camp then?! Surprise surprise. For them to suggest the Speedway doesn't want Stox is ludicrous. What they are playing silly buggers at is the terms of the lease offered by Horton!! Having gone from dictating the terms (when they owned the stadium) to accepting another's terms under a speedway-controlled lease is what this is all about! I don't know the terms of the new lease offered by Horton - they may be unrealistic, they may not. For Sandhu to claim he only took the equipment that was his - without any regard for the damage caused - to use at a new stadium ie equally ludicrous. Even if there were real plans for a new stadium somewhere, it wouldn't be ready in time for a 2017 season anyway so why rip the equipment out now? If Stox are to run at other existing venues then they will already be equipped and the Brandon fixtures and fittings would be superfluous in the short term. Lets hope the Council (Cllr Stokes?), Brandon and Horton can come up with a deal that suits the speedway and also gets the equipment reinstated as promised by Sandhu.
  8. JD put some pics on facebook in the past couple of days - pics from the gym and some very tough workouts, primarily to test his lung capacity I believe. Everything went well and according to his recuperation plan.
  9. Dare I suggest that view is NOT shared by Matt Ford!!!
  10. Chris Holder was the first to refer to them as potentially the new Turbo Twins during last year's Aussie Championships which Brady won! They have both grown up together in the Holder/Ward circle of riders, with Darcy sponsoring Brady and Chris obviously assisting his brother, which they will continue to do in 2017. Lets just hope that the 'Turbo Twins' nickname remains the aim for their future on-track aspirations and performances. Nobody - least of all the majority of Poole fans - is looking at them as a replacement NOW for the originals. Its all about potential for the future.
  11. That well-known 'deprived' area of Birmingham had so much European (slush)funding cash over the years , they could afford to throw money around at whatever they chose to.
  12. Whether any 'extra pressure' from one or two forum fans has any effect on either of them - I doubt very much!! For their club promoter to refer to them as potentially being 'the new Turbo Twins', does put a little pressure on them - and why shouldn't it??!! Riders should have pressure on them to do a decent job, ride to their abilities, improve and increase their averages. Nothing wrong in that - its how most sports work! In any case, what is said publicly is often not what is said privately to the riders themselves - unless they are underperforming?!
  13. At least it was the very same Darcy that went on radio last year and promised that all Leicester's 2016 riders would get fully paid!!
  14. Although I realise there are some anti-Speedway Star posters on here, there is an excellent 4 page article by Peter Oakes in the current edition which attempts to analyse some of speedway's issues from the new 'branding' and what is behind it, to should we revitalise the British Championship by making it a 4-round competition? whilst also looking back at how the sport has evolved or regenerated itself in the past. For me its interesting to note that we continue with 30+ teams across 3 (hopefully competitive) leagues. OK, the top end of the league structure may be 'declining' by way of not attracting as many of the top star riders, but does that really mean that the whole sport is in decline?!! IMO the sport will always continue in some form or other, if not in the current form. Hopefully there are still more than a few promoters in it for the longer haul who will try to be a bit more realistic with their pricing policies!?
  15. Sorry if some Bees fans aren't interested, but this Poole fan sincerely hopes - and truly believes - that Coventry will come to tapes at Brandon in 2017!! There, I've said it.
  16. Are you an escort of some sort?? Subject to injury, Kyle will have another season of improvement - particularly as he will not be worrying about whether he is getting paid for his Championship (PL) efforts!! Maybe that's why he's always done a little better at EL level than PL in previous years? (No doubt Gavan will give his contrary opinion?!)
  17. I should try reading the Speedway Star Thumper - they have quite a bit of 'official' info!!
  18. Judging by the article in SS this week, Manchester Council will have a major say in who the new promoters are (stating the obvious there!!) so I would imagine they will prefer someone with top level Speedway and solid business experience, along with a recommendation from BSPA/SCB.
  19. Don't many people also work on Saturdays (and Sundays)?! The last thing they may want to do on a Saturday evening is to take the family out to Speedway - or anything else for that matter!! If they do, there are many more family-friendly activities than a speedway meeting!!
  20. RIP Bryn. Bryn was one of the first non-Poole speedway people I met - back in the day when I also used to smoke!!!
  21. I think that's the least-likely option!!!!!
  22. Not sure why people expect 'news' over this holiday period?? Its highly likely that if further negotiations are still ongoing that not all the participants are available to continue until the new year!! Just to add to the rumour mill - I heard that ex-BSPA Vice Chair Jon Cook might be overseeing the new promotion which might still include Mr Carswell?! But maybe that's who FF was alluding to?!
  23. Well done to Jack Holder, finishing runner-up in Kurri Kurri's 'Jason Crump Invitational' meeting yesterday!! 1. Sedgeman 2. Jack Holder 3. Davey Watt 4. Mason Campton
