  1. The Darcy Ward Foundation is not simply raising money for Darcy himself. The foundation is aiming to assist other sports people (primarily but not exclusively) motor sports people who suffer similar debilitating injuries. It was originally stated that the DW 43 Foundation Benefit meeting would be held annually at Poole in addition to the ones currently also in Australia and Poland.
  2. KK summoned to stay in Poland to practice on Friday - after Thursday's Golden Helmet GP qualifier - as he missed official practice earlier in the week whilst riding against Wolves!!
  3. What price is parking at Blunsdon this season? Stadia UK increasing the charges at Poole to £2.50 for Speedway from April!!!
  4. Incidentally, I found out Wednesday that as KK missed official Polish practice earlier in the week whilst riding for Poole at Monmore, he was instructed to practice on Friday after Thursday's Golden Helmet qualifier and before Saturday's meeting.
  5. Ah yes I see Gav's back from his 'sabbatical' and straight onto the Poole threads!!! Nice hols Gav???
  6. Not sure if KK is available for the away leg or the Leicester meeting the day after. Results in Poland will determine that.
  7. Well I was more than pleasantly surprised with last night's Poole performance, having previously suggested that this 1-7 (Newman aside) were unlikely to make the playoffs imo!! The heat one 1-5 reverse added to my fears. As far as the track was concerned, with rain at around 5pm and the continued chance of showers all evening and the debacle of last Friday, much of the 'sludge ' had been taken off leaving a very slick and dusty surface, even producing the return of the infamous 'blue groove' which has not been evident for a couple of years!!! No holes or bumps in evidence around the track and the crowd were treated to a strong Poole performance especially by the reserves. As others have said, what a home debut by young Shanes. Looking forward to seeing him under the 2017 race format.
  8. He has a meeting in Gdansk at 2.30 pm on Saturday - so maybe a flight issue. Same reason why Lebedevs was not originally included in the Leicester pairing?!
  9. They forgot to install a 'Turn Left' sign on the 1st bend!!!!
  10. What would happen if Police find there is a criminal case for Sandhu to answer and he's then found guilty? Presumably Brandon Estates could claim for full re-instatement of 'as new' fixtures and fittings as well as costs/damages?!
  11. Welcome Lewis Kerr. Lets hope his most recent crash in his 2nd ride at Peterborough last week - where he failed to score - sees a quick recovery from his hand/wrist injury!!
  12. Despite now having nothing to do with the Poole programme for at least the past year, (apart from getting one each meeting!! ) I am told that they will stick with the same format as Wolves used - even though Wolves sent the correct format to the printer, but it came back with last year's!! ps. Is it Nigel Pearson that co-ordinates the Wolves programme?? As I believe he may have something to do with this season's Poole production?!
  13. Yes what about the criminal damage too??!!
  14. Lewis Kerr (5.98) would be an obvious choice unless MF is looking at Nicolai Klindt moving up and going for another temporary reserve? Someone like Joe Jacobs possibly?
  15. Don't say I didn't warn you?! Jack Holder and Kurtz for the Pirates.
  16. Kyle's injury seems very similar to that which Jason Doyle suffered way back when he rode for the Pirates. He never progressed until he had the op!! So what Brits are available with Kyle's average of up to 6.69? Lewis Kerr?? James Sarjeant?? If it didn't have to be a Brit then Lasse Bjerre or even Kacper Woryna would have been possibles......
  17. Chris Holder's latest comments about the KL track suggest he hated it as a visiting rider. He will not want too much grippy shale on it and certainly no bricks!! As for the Poole track, I can't comment from Friday as i wasn't there (for once) but photos from earlier in the day on twitter and facebook showed the track surface looking pretty good - smooth and dry!! However there was clearly a lot of water-sodden shale underneath from the torrential rains earlier in the week which the evening's cooler temperatures brought to the surface when racing began. As has been stated earlier, the track was worked on, repaired and smoothed out after the home defeat to BV on May 23rd 2016. Since then there has been nothing but great racing - even with positive comments from the likes of Chris Holder and others!! With the weather forecast looking quite good for the next few days the track should be in good nick for Wednesday's retention of the Elite Shield. ;-) It is Poole Council's stated intent to build several thousand new dwellings throughout the Poole area by 2025 (I think). One site of many that have been identified throughout the borough is on the edge of the Council-owned and Stadia UK-leased Poole Stadium site and which extends partially into the area currently used for lorry/car parking. It has been suggested that the stadium MIGHT be redeveloped for Speedway and Greyhounds (not football). This would mean giving it a different 'footprint' within the existing site - although there are no public plans available yet as to how this might be achieved. Any upgrade of the facilities would be welcomed by all - but I know MF is keen NOT to have to miss a season whilst any work does go on. There was any earlier proposal - with public plans - from renowned (if that's the right word) local property developer Eddie Mitchell to totally rebuild the whole stadium to include football - BUT THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN. (Mr Mitchell was at the time seeking a home for Poole FC who have now decided to stay where they are and are improving their own ground to meet FA requirements).
  18. Give it 2-3 years and the Polish aim to track only Poles in their top league will make everyone rethink their priorities!! The question for British speedway then is will it be able to afford any of the top riders 'slinking back' or will it give the British clubs the nap hand in only paying what they can afford - take it or leave it.
  19. The rules this season only state that the highest average rider must ride at 1 and the lowest average must ride and remain at 7. The 2nd lowest average starts at 6
  20. She is a ref remember!!! lol :-) Better than a Jimmy Krankie impersonator!! ;-)
  21. I do hope the scoring is 4320 otherwise its not a proper Pairs meeting!!
  22. Next season its likely to all change again. The Poles are talking about extending the 'priority' issue to their 2nd division meetings, due to a new TV contract!!? Added to that is the talk of restricting foreign riders to 2 per team in the Polish Extraleague. One things for sure we haven't heard the last of it!!!!
  23. Harris and Nicholls for the Rockets. I'll wager there will be at least one change to the 8 pairs named to date!!!!!!
  24. Christina Turnbull - more fans than Nicola Sturgeon!!! :-)
  25. I don't think many people really begrudge riders earning where they can - its the priority issue that is causing the problem. NKI states in this week's Star that he wanted to ride in the UK this year but couldn't due to the Polish rules. He feels riders should ride in as many leagues as they want!! Aside from the obvious risks of 'burn-out' (which NKI acknowledges), surely its all about the terms of the contract that each rider has with their respective club(s). If a rider can't give the kind of commitment to the club that offers the contract then the club shouldn't sign him!!
