Holder on 7.16 but still within the 42 points.

Couldn't agree more BW. There will always be the 'haves' and 'have nots' especially in speedway, so why not let those clubs that want/can afford the top riders (through deep pockets or good sponsorship or whatever) run in a top league, whilst using the basics of what JC has outlined above for the other lower league(s). If the senior league only has a few clubs - lets say 6-8 for arguments sake - and therefore insufficient fixtures to sustain a whole season,(which would suit many of the 'top' riders) then let those clubs also run a 'B' team with only the 6 point and below average riders using the standardised machinery (Gerhardt?) and a price differential for those fixtures..
-
So thats Somerset, Swindon, Belle Vue and Poole that the Holders are riding for then?!?? ;-)
-
One of the problems with Miedzinski - despite how well he rode for Poole last time - is that he seems to be very injury prone. Very much like Kildemand, who was another in the frame mid-season!!
-
Does it really matter how BT get their audience figures? If they are happy then that is surely a big plus to start negotiations. Rather than clubs relying on some sort of TV cash pay out they should be concentrating on using TV to get more (and get more out of) corporate sponsorship, which in turn should benefit riders as well as the clubs.

I expect Chris Holder must have signed an agreement for 2018 somewhere as that club would need to 'sponsor' his visa application for his return to UK. Somerset did try to sign him at the start of 2017 but there was going to be too many missed meetings due to GP/Polish commitments. PS/NB. Has anyone given thought to Piotr Pawlicki returning to Poole? A 7.32 average from his stint at Wolves in 2014 is bound to be reduced plus he's no longer in the GPs. He'd be a good mentor/partner for Woryna too!

Certain people (riders?) keep saying that British tracks are more dangerous than elsewhere!! Where are the facts to back that up? There have been far more serious and bad accidents on foreign tracks than in this country - ask Darcy Ward, NKI, Nicki Pedersen - or Jason Doyle for that matter.
-
Thanks, but no 'more guests' comment more recently than Feb last year?!
-
Just out of interest, where has this 'we need more guests' comment come from?? Reportedly from Buster but where and when was it stated, cos I've missed it.
-
If JC's summary of current finances is accurate - and I have no reason to think it isn't - why is there all this strong talk of an expanded senior league of 10-12 clubs, on fixed nights which might attract back some top riders?! It seems to me that those clubs in the 'doo-doo' (with some suggesting possible closure) are all in the Championship - so maybe its there that costs need to be reduced even further to a realistic level.
-
Chris Holder could not have signed for Poole after KL sacked him. A club cannot sign a rider from the previous year's 1-7 if they are not included in the current year's starting line-up!! People were just going way OTT. He wasn't included in this season's line-up for a number of reasons - only one of which was his high inflated average!! Incidentally, other than in yesterday's Peterborough press release, nowhere official or otherwise including the SGP's official media spokesperson has made any mention of Jack Holder being a GP reserve.
-
Its interesting how many Poole fans on here and several media pundits now think that Chris Holder will be returning - on the strength of the statement that MF assisted him with his ACU appeal - seemingly having settled their previous differences?! After MF's late season outburst about 'rider attitudes' and 'teenage-like sulks' and the 2018 team looking little like the 2017 line-up, its also interesting to see where the changes will come

I thought CVS had already stated in the SS that he's stepping down due to ill health?!
-
So if clubs have a list of 'registered' riders (assets by any other name), does that give the club an increased value? If not, then what value does a club actually have - especially if they don't own their stadium or even equipment? In other words if a club owner wanted to sell the club to another owner, would the value of said club (ie the selling/purchase price) be enhanced by having a strong list of 'registered' riders as 'assets' of the club?
-
Can't disagree with that sentiment, as it may apply to at least 2 or 3 riders!!
-
Tony R was on £180 a point. plus a few other bits and pieces that most of the other top riders would expect as part of their 'deal'! As for the Greg rumour, lets not forget that Gordon Pairman would probably have some influence in either Poole or Glasgow camps?!!
-
Greg's average when he rode for Poole in 2013 was 8.77 I think. I wonder what it would be reduced by - whoever he may ride for?
-
Don't shoot the messenger. I merely shared the chat going on amongst several of Poole's sponsors - many of whom still sponsor Adam (Just look at his kevlars/cap/covers) - over the last few meetings. If its true, it may merely be a financial agreement between MF and Jon Cook, with Lakeside considering coming back to the top league and MF no doubt looking to build his asset base with riders still competing. It doesn't necessarily mean he'll ride for Poole in 2018 As with most teams' 1-7s it'll come down to numbers as it always does.
-
No multipliers or dividables. NKI will come in on 9.04 - his effective average from 2016
-
He's probably cheaper than Holder!!!
-
Understandably non-committal So who is Adam an asset of now?
-
The article by Peter Oakes in the SS last week says "He (Holder) would be an absolute snip on his current 7.16 green sheet average and it will be a major surprise if Pirates boss Matt Ford, who helped Holder prepare his appeal, doesn't ask him to be back at Wimborne Road in 2018". Also earlier in the same article, "The (ACU) decision will allow him to get clearance for a work permit that was threatening to stop him living in England". So Chris still intends to race in the UK - unlike some that have suggested otherwise - and the work permit application will need to be sponsored by a UK club.......... I think with Kurtz, C.Holder, Shanes and Woryna there is ample opportunity to sign an 8.08+ heat leader and some strong 2nd strings within the rumoured points limit. (ps. I don't think Hans will be in the team)
-
So back from a week out of the country and not much hard news it would seem - other than Chris Holder's shortened ban and 50% reduction in fines by the ACU. Interesting to read that Matt Ford assisted Chris with his appeal, so it would seem they've resolved their past differences!? I think they will await the AGM before announcing the Number 1

There was some talk about appointing a new Chief Executive for the BSPA from outside of the sport?!
-
Is that with additives or without?! Or does it depend on the size of the tank?
