  1. No body is talking about building a new stadium. Poole Council's house building plans - across the whole of Poole - recommend a reduced number of 430 homes (from the original 550) to be located on land that overlaps onto the lorry/car park of the stadium. As the stadium site is designated for leisure use and the Council and Poole Tourism are very firmly supportive of Speedway continuing (MF did a presentation to them all - yes all - last season), they have now involved Stadia UK as the current stadium leaseholder in producing plans to 'upgrade' the existing stadium facility for the continuation of 2 sports - Greyhound and Speedway racing!! From a fans perspective such an upgrade would see the old main grandstand pulled down and replaced with something more modern - and likely modular. Replacement offices and bars underneath the grandstand and on the 3rd/4th bend should also be included together with improved covered terracing. This may mean a slight change to the track - both in size and position?! However there are currently no plans in the public arena(sic) so further comment is pure speculation. However this is being driven by the Council so expect the pressure to be kept on and MF to be kept fully informed. Matt and the Council are keen for there to be no interruption of either sport if possible so expect a 'phased' approach.
  2. As you are into comparisons Gav the cup match saw Pooles 1 and 4 score paid 22 whereas last night 1 & 4 scored paid 14. So putting it simply Belle Vues 1-7 last night was better than Poole's 6, inc only 2 heat leaders. But no complaints from me. As I said in my earlier post, Belle Vue won fairly and squarely on the night.
  3. KK will complete his 4h/4a on 26th July. He's only done 1 home Poole meeting so far. His 3 meeting away average is 7.14 so some decent home scores should get him back to 8+ points.
  4. Well lets take stock after last night's meeting. Firstly it is confirmed that Hans has NOT suffered a neck fracture as first feared. GREAT NEWS. He will give his Swedish meeting a miss tonite but intends to race on Friday in Denmark!! To be beaten fairly and squarely by 4 points, by (imo) the best team in the league, is no disgrace when missing one heat leader and only having 5 functioning riders, although I questioned the balance and riding order of the team when it was announced last night along with some of the r/r selections??!! Well done Belle Vue. Klindt is clearly unlikely to be fully fit for the foreseeable future but his 6.21 average after last night doesn't leave too many decent options!!!? The Poole Aussie boys were clearly out to show Mark Lemon the error of his Team Australia selections!! :-) Starkey scoring 9 points and having the race of the night, more than did his job, along with young Shanes - we've just been spoilt having Nicolai at reserve!! KK returns for the Kings Lynn meeting on 12th July - but will there be another change by then - or later?? Whatever the state of the track - and it was quite poor last night - I doubt that there will be any major work carried out on it until the Stadium developments/changes/improvements are made clear by Stadia UK - especially if any changes involve a 're-positioning' of the track and/or the stadium?! Having watched the meeting live and then the TV version this morning I was pleased with the BT approach but totally annoyed by Pearson's commentary as well as his continued banging on about Tai in his Matchday programme column. No bias there is there??!!!!! I'm sure MF will have got all the reports on last night from his 'team' as he was unable to witness it first hand due to a prior commitment!! Onwards and upwards. (ps. At least I gather from 'sources' that we could already have next season's main sponsors sorted!! ;-) )
  5. Apparently the same part of the wrist that he broke previously!!
  6. Plenty of gaps in the fixture list to arrange holidays so no excuse to miss any meetings!! But hey if the season ticket doesn't work for you then so be it!!
  7. What 'known form' is that then with Klindt carrying a badly injured and heavily strapped knee as well as riding in the main body of the team for the first time this season??
  8. Belle Vue website has Klindt at 4!!? If thats true then it could prove decisive in heat 14 as his injured knee will have been through the mill by then - especially with the extra r/r ride as GZ is missing!? 42-48 win for Belle Vue I feel. Also local Echo says gates to open at 6pm - that's 30 minutes earlier than usual.
  9. Sounds as though you've found the ideal place to conceal any food or drink prior to being searched!!
  10. Outvoted year after year by those that just want to weaken the product!! Thanks for your rat's arse of a comment!!
  11. I assume you mean the 'in-form' Holder? Jack!!
  12. Such a surprise this morning to see so many posters from different clubs agreeing with Matt Ford's pleas to have a higher team building average!! :-)
  13. Where on earth do you get that figure from SCB? The 'old' main grandstand has a H&S limit of 1200 (it holds more '1400', but H&S rules!!). plus the standing room at the front which can be 4 or 5 deep for the whole length of the home straight stand. The 'newer' glass restaurant/bar stand with 3 levels can take approx 1000 (300 in the actual restaurant) and the 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th bends can all take 6-8 deep at least. The official declared attendance for the World Cup in 2004 was 7,131, of which 2,200 were in the temporary seating brought in especially.
  14. To be honest, when I first heard that Lions had signed Kyle Newman (5.26), I assumed it was to replace Garrity (6.00)?!
  15. The main reason Doyley has improved to the level he has is down to the successful surgery on his shoulder which he kept putting off whilst at Poole - plus he has a much more settled private life!! Poole never had the full benefit of him during his tenure due to the recurring injury. and some of his off-track antics (which are quite common amongst youngsters of his age)!! Doyley was upset at continually being 'overshadowed' by Ward and Holder, and ended up voicing his opinion somewhat too publicly, hence the swap with Janowski which at the time was seen as good business and suited both riders and clubs. Anyway not sure what any of that has to do with Poole 2017??!
  16. Havent seen anyone having to give up any food or drink at the main Grandstand entrance!! Some bottles have been opened and the contents 'sniffed' but then given back to the fan. Not sure if thats the same at the other entrance into the restaurant stand as I never go in that way?!
  17. Oh don't you start C4G!! As for Monday Nicolai is due to practice in Denmark today and is 'hopeful' (although very worried) about returning to race on Monday. Worst case scenario is that he starts but can't complete the meeting. Would prefer that he gives Monday a miss and we use r/r for his new average of 6.36. The track will be fine if its anything like Wednesday v Leicester - which considering the heatwave was unexpectedly (by me) a briliant race track. ps. the security searches are being carried out on the instruction of the County Police - so I assume its the same around the country. Its not just bags, jackets and pockets its also a full body scan with the electronic beeper scanners.
  18. 7 x 3-3; 3 x 4-2; 3 x 5-1; 1 x 1-5; 1 x 3-5; plenty of decent racing with particularly Riss and King finding the track eminently suitable in heat 15!!
  19. Klindt's 'real' average from his 3H/5A meetings as a reserve is 6.70. He's been given a new average of 6.36 which I can only presume takes account of his next anticipated home meeting score as a 2nd string whilst carrying an injury?!
  20. With the reduced admission prices including kids free, a big (ger) crowd is expected. All newcomers and many regulars should be prepared for the long queues while pockets and bags are emptied and searched!!
  21. Yawn. My week's holiday - chosen not enforced - was such a welcome break, but now back to reality!!!
  22. Zengi is/was on a minimum 28 day cover for KK. He's been given a 'new' average - effective 23/6/17 - of 7.79, which would see him drop to Poole's 3rd heat leader spot on Monday's TV meeting - whether that sees him score more readily we shall see?! KK was last night rumoured to be returning in July on his revised average of 9.23 which would see the team reshuffled again with KK replacing Brady at 1
  23. That's a fair point re Riss even though it was only r/r - still a facility!!
