Poole Vs Wolves 16/8/17

With Timo dropping to reserve from 23/08 you never know it may provide the extra lift to see us on a bit of a roll for the play-offs??! -

No worries - we still have Agent Jonasson!! -
So it does appear that the '2 fixed race night' proposal for the Premiership in 2018 is a confirmed item on the AGM agenda at the end of this season. This was proposed 3 years ago to give those clubs that rent/share their facilities ample time to re-negotiate their speedway usage with their landlords!! With Swindon and now Poole firmly in favour of the move - partially in the hope of attracting some of the 'top' riders back to UK racing - it'll be very interesting to see what is finally agreed. At Poole, greyhounds take place on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays so any other 2 nights should suit speedway. Monday/Wednesday or Monday/Thursday would be my guess - assuming there is still the chance of Monday TV coverage?!

C'mon the Robins!! -
Well clearly based solely on this season so far Middlo is 'struggling' as the 4th best team manager as we continue to hold onto 4th place - whether we finish there and make it to the play-offs remains to be seen. So by the same token and using Gav's opinion if Leicester manage to avoid 8th place then Jim Lynch won't be the worst team manager around?! At the end of the day I'm much more interested in riders' and other team manager's opinions of Middlo - which are in the main extremely positive and completely respectful of what he has achieved and how he's helped to achieve it!! I'm surprised Gavan hasn't asked his mate Mark Loram for his opinion of Middlo??!!
-
If I'd been a team manager and had what Middlo's had to deal with off-track in the last couple of years, I'd have probably packed it all in - and thats absolutely without any criticism of his team management record. People (and their nans) - especially on here - are so keen to stick the knife in without knowing the slightest bit about what has actually been going on?!

Aarnio was withdrawn at Berwick last night with a suspected broken metatarsal but apparently is ok to ride at Peterboro today?????? -
Struggling with an injury he may be but it didn't stop him being out on the p!$$ with Rosco and others last night!!

Poole Pirates Vs Leicester Lions 21/8/17

So Monday sees the last meeting for Lahti in the 1-5. He drops to reserve in place of Starkey from 23/08 according to the latest BSPA averages (assuming they are correct?). Paul and James should be ok to keep Kyle at bay but the Lions trump card could well be Bates - who has had good and bad meetings at Poole previously. Mondays don't suit everyone - neither some fans nor riders - so I still reckon that Poole could sneak a narrow win! Leicester have hit a run of reasonable scores of late, scoring 40 points away from home on a number of occasions so I'll go for 49-41. -
Fixture Cut Off Date...has It Been Extended?
SteveLyric2 replied to Speedwaycrazy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The cut-off date has already been extended once from Sept 4th to 6th. I can't see it being extended again as there is precedent for it from previous seasons. Maybe make any outstanding fixtures a draw with 1 point to the home team and 2 points to the away team?? ;-) -
Matt doesn't make empty threats so following his programme notes from Wednesday I think he will wait to see how the team of 'also runs' performs in the final weeks of the season!!? There is also the chance that other promoters may throw an unexpected rule change proposal into the final AGM agenda simply to muddy the waters a little eg. change the points limit to what has already been discussed; change the league format due to the final club accounts for each side; re-assess averages for foreign riders; change the number of 'NL eligible' riders per team, etc etc.? I think if Woryna and Shanes can start as reserves, with possibly Klindt at 2 then the rest is open to debate at the moment. I'm sure (despite all that has happened and been said) that Kyle Newman would jump at the chance to return - BUT (and imo its a big BUT) would MF want it, unless the numbers gave no other choice or he needed another Brit/NL-eligible rider?? Lots of time yet!

I think you'll be lucky to get 4 out of your suggested team in the 2018 thread!!! -
I love Rosco to bits but is this simply a knee jerk reaction to the fixture pile-up - caused in no uncertain terms by a number of clubs going several weeks without fixtures, for no obvious reason. If any plan for 2 fixed nights is agreed upon and its a condition of being included in the Premiership, then why are we bothering with the Promotion/Relegation play - offs as it may not suit the winners (or losers)? I'm not going to get into the 'which 2 nights are best' argument as that has been well documented and is not easy for those tracks that rent/share their facilities with other sports.

Hans has done nothing more than just ok during his 2 year contract but as for 2018 forget it. There will be better options........ -
It might depend on which Polish teams are in the Extraleague next season??!!

Just goes to show that Poole supporters aren't all either retired or pensioners, I guess?! :-)

Monday's meeting is also being sponsored by Kyle's main sponsor Meridian Lifts just to add a lttle more spice to the evening. With the BT Sports cameras due at Swindon (v KL) it may affect the crowd numbers, however with Nilsson set to be back for Leicester (and Prezedpelski??) plus a strong reserve pairing - this could be another very tight meeting. -
Great to see Kacper Woryna absolutely smoking Zmarzlik and Pawlicki in the Euro Pairs!! lol Ooops sorry wrong thread - but I think I'll leave it on here anyway! :-)

In the Speedway Star version of the interview with Holder today (rather than the speedwaygp version) it states that Holder has no issues with a visa in 2018 and will be back ready to race in the Spring - after he has appealed. Agreed he wasn't present at the initial hearing but for some to simply say 'he didn't turn up' is pure argumentative speculation - and I'm one of those who agreed he should have got a ban but NOT to stop him from riding, bearing in mind he couldn't have re-signed for Poole this year anyway!!!
-
Quite right Starman!! Matt usually watches most heats from the main grandstand steps adjacent to the office and directly behind the Re-Run cameras.
-
It could be a good bit of reverse psychology talking about the team not being strong enough for the play-offs this year but also talking about contracts for next season?!

The article is repeated in this week's SS!!
