  1. Correct. RH are riding at KL on Thursday!!
  2. Who have Rye House got guesting for Harris on Wednesday at BV??
  3. A bit unfair on Poole if Rye only have to take the 2nd meeting on Thursday to Heat 10!!!!
  4. Plus some riders have Championship commitments.
  5. Done deal with a 2nd rider so I understand - another 4-5 pointer so shouldn't get too many agitated for the time being. :-)
  6. Whatever the result tonight, Poole and RH both have home and away meetings against Kings Lynn this week which could be what settles the final play-off place!! I'd be very happy with a point this evening.
  7. Well done to the Pirates. I thought we'd pinch it by a couple of points which would have been enough in any case, but some determined riding from the skipper (to earn himself Rider of the Day award) was a joy to watch. As was Timo on his new Matt Ford engine!!! Cookie loves to dish it out but he doesn't like it when he's on the receiving end does he?!
  8. Maybe they are waiting for the results from Monday and Tuesday as they may make the Thursday fixture pointless?!
  9. I guess it'll be all a matter of timing then, as to when its announced or confirmed what the format of the leagues in each country is going to be, and where riders feel safer that contracts will be honoured!?
  10. and he won it I see. Hope the knee didn't swell up too much!!
  11. Isn't Pawlicki carrying a serious leg injury??
  12. Don't shoot the messenger - I was only sharing the story. Lets hope there is a viable Allsvenskan League for Valsarna to return to. Although with the British Premiership looking at going to a Thursday fixed night, not sure what will happen?
  13. Any updates on the injured riders? I note Lambert is due to ride in Latvia today?!
  14. Well if we don't get something out of Monday's meetings then our home league season comes to an early end on Wednesday 30th. OK KL home and away plus Rebels away still to come, might just give us a reason not to book any holidays in September!!?
  15. I think it will all be very much clearer for most teams after all the Monday meetings. At the moment I'm just pleased Poole are holding 4th place with a 4 point gap - albeit with some others having a meeting in hand.
  16. Unlike you Gav I don't have time nor inclination to go back and look at every post. Even though I no longer have a family that prioritises my time, I do have a life!!
  17. Oh the irony!! Talking about Swindon on the Rye House v Poole thread!!? 'If you're not intelligent enough.......then best not to comment at all'!!
  18. Gates open 0930 for the 11 am start. Expect a quick meeting on an ultra slick track so the team (and fans) can get on the M3/M25 to Hoddesden in time for the tv!! :-)
  19. It doesn't look as though Sweden will run a 2nd league next year according to this week's Speedy Star!! They are really up $#1t creek in Sweden and are having enough issues with their Elite league!! I have replicated most of the article in the 'International Speedway' section of this forum.
  20. The 'Sweden' round-up in this week's Speedway Star (w/e 26th August) paints a very bad picture of Swedish League speedway in the future!! I'll try to reproduce most of the article as follows:- 'The crisis in Swedish speedway continues and in the space of 24 hours last week, it was announced that 2 more clubs were in trouble. Elite League Piraterna were among the favourites for the title this year but have endured a poor season and will almost certainly miss the play-offs. With one round left (written before this week's fixtures) there is even the chance that the Motala club will be relegated. Following the team's poor performances, crowds have gone down to an average of 2500 which is 500 lower than budgeted. As a result Piraterna have been unable to pay their riders!! Meanwhile, Allsvenskan League Ornarna are in an even worse position and have confirmed they are withdrawing from any league racing after this season. ....Interest in the Elite league remains at a high level but teams are mainly made up of foreign riders and many clubs are struggling to make ends meet. Both Smederna and Indianerna should, in reality, have folded during 2016 but they were finally able to continue after what many regarded as questionable solutions. Speedway is experiencing problems all over the world but in no other country has the sport lost so many clubs and riders in such a short time. ....It must now be doubtful if there will even be a proper 2nd tier in 2018!'
  21. If you just have one home/one away plus a well-structured cup competition or 2 and 6-team play offs, it might just work. Start at Easter and go through to August BH Monday before sorting the play-offs in September and the final as this season in the first week of October. Otherwise if there are a handful of clubs who want and are able to afford the top riders then let them form a small 'Super/Elite League' in say April/May (with a play-off later in the season) and then those same clubs (without the top riders) join a Championship level, 2-division Championship league for the rest of the season.
  22. Aside from the obvious and understandable fan frustration over fixtures - I haven't seen anything anywhere that attempts to give any official explanation as to why most Premiership teams went several weeks in May/June/July without a home fixture. One might understand Swindon wishing to defer some fixtures to later in the season in the hope that they would have possession of a new stadium - but doesn't explain the situation with other clubs?!
