  1. Not quite sure how a discussion on setting up donations for Bomber has turned into a who was better - Andersen or Holder' debate? Poole won nothing in 2016 or 2017 when Hans was in the team. Not saying that was down to Hans or any other individual rider but it might well explain why the promotion went for a very different 1-7 this year. One thing is for certain - if Chris Holder had managed to get his visa sorted and was included in this year's Poole side - then the attendances would have shot up far earlier than they now have with Bomber! ( and I'm not a particular fan of Holder either)! Anyway almost £800 donated for Bomber so far by 53 fans - not bad for the week after the SRBF collection at Poole
  2. Not comparing him with Holder, just don't agree that he should have been a cert for the 2018 team. As I say each to their own.
  3. Well I happen to be in the camp that doesn't agree with you about Hans - but each to their own I guess.
  4. New averages for September will be calculated and published after 23rd August as usual. Its only team changes that can't happen after August 12/15th - unless there is a season-ending injury when the BSPA MC will make a decision based on what is best for British Speedway.
  5. Maybe he didn't have as many fans as he and his sponsors thought he had??
  6. Not just some Poole fans - the Bookies and a number of track pundits/reporters had Poole as firm favourites at the start of the season.
  7. Fans at all clubs will have their favourite riders - as indeed do sponsors! If a fan wants to give something to a rider then he/she will - including in this specific case setting up a Just Giving page for Chris Harris' repairs independent of what the club or the supporters club (REF) may or may not do. (Incidentally Chris knew nothing about this until informed by another supporter and promptly offered some of his merchandise to be given to selected donors.) Clearly as at Sunday evening 50 donors feel the same about Bomber and have so far raised £758 As for Stefan yes he may well 'deserve' a collection, but by the same token he probably had some financial support from SRBF which wouldn't have been available to Bomber. I guess if some fans or sponsors feel strongly enough about Stefan or any other rider then we can expect a number of Just Giving opportunities to crop up.
  8. Sad news, met him and worked with him on an indoor meeting. RIP Bob. Bob Dugard and Barrie Chuckle - sad day.
  9. ...I don't understand. Thats exactly what the REF does - donates to Poole riders if they get injured or suffer major bike damage when riding for Poole.
  10. ...But not Poole ones?! (Thats a question not a statement.) PS Great to see the Just Giving page for Chris Harris' bike repairs is now over £600. I believe the plan is to let it continue for the coming week and then present the proceeds to him at the Meeting on Monday 13th August
  11. As long as there's some dirt on the outside like last time so Hans gets nowhere by sticking to the white line, should be another comfortable home win. Plus it'll be Leicester's 3rd away meeting in 4 days next week so they may well be even more demoralised than before - unless they get something from Wolves and Swindon?!
  12. Many of us contribute monthly to the REF in addition to their Winter events. All monies are donated between the riders over the course of a season - usually £500 at a time.
  13. The Just Giving page for Bomber's bike repairs (started by Sully) has already reached £280 from 20 contributors. Minimum donation is only £2.
  14. Not sure that would be possible after this week's SRBF collection and the current suggestions of doing a collection (as well as a Just Giving page) for Bomber?!
  15. It might be more credible if you got your averages right 'cos the current 1-7 certainly did not add up to 46.anything at the start of the season!!
  16. Poole can't fit Holder in on a like for like replacement unless its for Kurtz or Harris because his average (7.16) is higher than all the current 1-7 and the team total is 42.26. Can't see that happening. He could go to Somerset to replace his brother or Doyley!!?
  17. Ahh but was it by a Poole mechanic (who are there every week)or a Stars one?? Nobody seems to have ascertained that?!
  18. Just as a matter of interest, has anyone actually confirmed it was a Poole mechanic/official that spilled the oil on the track? Just asking................
  19. Not forgetting the chips on the shoulder and the mushrooms for fans to shelter under.
  20. Have you heard about VAT? Plus every club will have a different cost base which would make a 'standard' budgeting formula virtually impossible for every track.
  21. With many speedway tracks looking like a tip, its perfectly ok to mix oil in with shale as long as its not spilled in the pits or public areas where someone could slip over on it!
  22. Nothing wrong now with the Poole track - apart from some 'thin' shale, but as several riders including Kyle Newman commented it was in very good nick with fastest race times recorded. Even Robert chalked up the fastest away rider race time this season!! In any case the Stars will have their chance to get their own back at the end of the month.
