Swindon v Belle Vue. Thursday 27/09/18.
SteveLyric2 replied to Sidney the robin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Kyle Howarth and Jye Etheridge are both listed in the Redcar Silver Helmet meeting on Thursday! -
The article says that the stands will be taken down when the expected planning permission comes through. The pits will also be moved. None of which affects work on the revised track shape to start immediately. Lets not forget that the landlords will also want facilities for greyhounds to be in full working order asap!!

Can't allow both Sheffield and Leicester in the same league with the same promotion!!!

Happy Birthday today Chris Holder.

Who amongst the current Premiership clubs would want a further watering down of team strengths? I can't think of any, not even Leicester.

Excellent 2-page interview with Matt Ford by Phil Lanning in this week's Speedway Star, giving some insight into MF's possible future. In a seperate article, Middlo reckons that MF has already started his team building plans for next year, so Promoters must have a pretty clear view of the format/changes for 2019 - as long as they are agreed at the AGM.

Crikey - all sorts of entertainment and atmosphere then!!?

Quite correct Iris123. Phil Taylor attended Wimborne Road on a few occasions as a guest of Matt Ford. It was back in the days of Sky when Premier League Darts was at the Bournemouth International Centre during the speedway season. Matt, Middlo and a few riders and sponsors usually had a table at the front of the stage for the darts. Steve Brandon was the 'Floor Manager' for the darts as he still is for BT for the Speedway.

Jason Done (Waterloo Road) was/is often at Belle Vue, even getting some BV posters into one episode I recall. Also didn't Matt Ford bring a rock star celeb to a recent BV v Poole meeting this season? Can't remember his name..? Several of the current and former AFC Bournemouth players are regular visitors to Poole - probably going back to when MF was on the AFCB Board.

Brady showed what he can do when not up against the World Champion. He won't be up against him as much in the home leg as new averages are effective from 1st October so his confidence should improve riding down the order and on a track that has been prepared for the riders.. Back to last night I'm not sure why in heat 15 Poole didn't have Josh and Nicolai as they'd already ridden as a pair in 3 earlier heats scoring 4-2; 4-2; and 3-3. Still well done to both teams.

....and Virgin Media Channel 553.

With all these NSS-related posts do I assume that Poole 2019 will be based there? Its almost as if this forum should offer the opportunity for a new thread 'Who has the best track' in the Speedway Discussion section?! Oh hang on a minute......................................................................!!!

A Nations League for Speedway ?
SteveLyric2 replied to Bavarian's topic in International World of Speedway
Where it might fall down is when it comes to rider pay rates!? If the majority of riders expect to get paid as per Polish rates then unless the FIM or whoever coughs up the megabucks it'll never happen - a bit like the 'World Speedway League' a few years ago. -
Is Speedway still viable in the UK?
SteveLyric2 replied to JamesHarris's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I was interested to read about some attendances in this week's SS. Against all the doom and gloom merchants on the BSF, Leicester are reporting very good crowds - despite languishing at the bottom of the Premiership (and with claims of poor racing!!) Somerset have reported no drop in crowd numbers by switching to Mons/Weds plus increased numbers as the season has progressed and their success has been recognised.. Belle Vue fans reckon that numbers have increased progressively through the season. Poole's crowds whilst dwindling at the start of the season have now picked up considerably once their play-off place has been assured - and the club is financially stable.. Swindon and Wolves? - Both owners have intimated they wish to continue in the sport's top level and don't want to be dictated to by the Championship teams!!. That leaves Kings Lynn - top of the Premiership and presumably wanting to defend their 'title' next season?! What about their crowds in their best season for years? Not sure what any of that means in the overall scheme of things.......?
