  1. 3 of those 5 TV meetings are away, so BT clearly banking on getting an increased attendance at those meetings - as usually happens when Poole visit!!
  2. When Middlo had his previous money nicked by the Reg Fearman promotion, he left speedway altogether and didn't even visit as a fan until the likes of Joe Screen and Steve Johnston were staying with him at Baillie House and enticed him back. Matt Ford took over later and asked Neil to become team manager and promised to hold a benefit meeting for him while he still owned the club. Its not a 'testimonial' as such, its a 'benefit' meeting proposed by Matt Ford (first mentioned at the recent fan forum to unanimous applause) which I'm sure will be well supported by riders, fans and sponsors - and rightly so.
  3. No doubt he'll find his form against Poole on Monday?!
  4. Well he must be pleased with how his reign started at Poole last night!
  5. At least the Easter Monday start time has been changed to avoid the footie clash!
  6. The interval is a contracted agreement with the stadium owners who take all the bar/beverage/food revenue - although why they didn't call it when Kerr came down and was being attended to in heat 10 I don't know?! Other than that despite the delayed start the ref and the presentation ensured the meeting was completed well within 90 minutes which was just as well as I was in severe danger of freezing my proverbials off!! ......But I guess thats one of the risks for those that do actually attend meetings regularly.
  7. So not far from the truth - except for the lack of entertainment factor on a very chilly evening in front of an 'average sized' crowd! The track was smooth and slick and the racing processional. Well done to the Stars for getting their act together better than the Pirates in the latter part of the meeting. As others have said this sort of result happens when your number 1 doesn't score - as KL found on Monday. All the others rode to or exceeded their averages so early days yet. 2 away meetings next week before the Good Friday morning meeting will be interesting to judge further.
  8. Simply following the lead of last year's title-winning team.
  9. I note Speedwaygb have used this as an example of 'great heat action' on their website. A tapes to flag 5-1 for the Aces! Great?!
  10. I'm sure Poole will keep it close for the entertainment factor. Nobody really wants to see a one-sided meeting with little racing and loads of Poole 5-1's do they?
  11. Surely if a fanbase is so low - the only way it can go is up?! or so Yazz says.......
  12. Jack had bike issues in his first 2 rides - nothing to do with a foot injury. In normal circumstances i would expect him to get double figures. All the negativity about the Stars after just one home meeting I find a little surprising?! But I bet they looked nice and professional in their team kevlars...........!!
  13. So tonight sees the first track action of the season for the Pirates against a Stars side wanting a quick recovery from their performance at Ipswich. Teams: Stars: Lambert, Riss, Proctor, Kerr, Jorgensen, MPT, Andersen. Pirates: Holder, Grajczonek, Klindt, Worrall, Kurtz, Covatti, Busk Jacobsen. Several of the Pirates have had track action elsewhere, and with Stars wanting some 'revenge' for last season, I guess it could be quite tight. Thoughts?
  14. How strange?! I thought it was only Poole's track that had potholes!!?? (Incidentally Josh G said at P&P he hoped any holes were still there at Wimborne Road as it gave a good home advantage!!)
  15. I expect the local TV cameras will be there on Wednesday for the official practice and/or on Thursday for the first home meeting!
  16. No it doesn't but equally it doesn't alter the fact that letting people in free or next to nothing does nothing to build long term attendances or the financial bottom line.
  17. Well having turned down 4 approaches whilst waiting for whether Poole may use him later on, that only leaves another 2 possibilities!
  18. Not true. Team manager can name his top 4 riders of which 2 can be voted for in heat 14. The other 2 would then be in heat 15. Alternatively he could keep the top 2 for heat 15 and nominate another 4 for the heat 14 vote. (At least thats how it was explained today).
  19. Maybe the rumour that Gomolski was on the way was confusing the wrong Kacper?! It was announced at Poole's P&P today that Kacper WORYNA had turned down 4 approaches from Premiership clubs - the most recent from Peterborough a few days ago!! He will only return if its to Wimborne Road!!
  20. ...and thats worked so well at the other clubs hasn't it?! Matt Ford today confirmed that last season saw a substantial increase in the number of (paying?!) young fans!!
  21. Confirmed Clegg replaces Nicholls this evening.
  22. I'd be more than happy if Covatti continues to score 7 points - from reserve. As for the Darcy 'story' - anyone would think he's the only rider to ever have a go about Nicki Pedersen - 'awful rider....average human being'!!?!
  23. All the main club sponsors at Poole are featured on the riders' racesuits/jackets and bikes, as well as any individual rider sponsors - just as they were last season.
  24. He's only posting about Poole riders on a Poole thread. Quite right too imo. Bore off yourself!!
