Ipswich v Poole; Supporters Cup; Thurs 16/05/19
SteveLyric2 replied to SteveLyric2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Buster's decision to finance 3 Premiership clubs was to ensure that there was a Premiership as the sport moves towards the end of the current BT Sports contract and - as was announced at the time - implored all the 7 clubs to work to their own minimum 'break-even' budgets in order that there are no more 'financial casualties' at the end of this season. Every club will have its own budget suited to their own very localised situation with varying sponsorship, costs and attendances in order to remain solvent this year. If it means that a one league structure is the short term future so be it - although not sure what level the sport would be at in that scenario?! -
It did to begin with, but I guess after all the announcements of the new site www.poole-speedway.com across all social media platforms, in the local press, in the matchday programme and from the centre green presenter, it was felt ok simply to close the old one!!

Not withstanding the availability of the stadium which might dictate the day that speedway can be run!? -
Who is going to pay the costs of those changes? Not Buster thats for sure.

....and you don't have to be on twitter to get the twitter updates!

Oops he didn't keep still enough for me to get his name right. Sorry Tobiasz!! -
Poole travel to Foxhall with 3 team changes - Scott Nicholls and Tomasz Musielak for Brady Kurtz and Nicolai Klindt who are both in a prioritised Swedish League fixture; and Garry May for Neil Middleditch!! With the Witches on a strong vein of form winning away at Peterborough last night and almost getting a deserved win at Poole last week, I predict another close one - 48-42 to the Witches.

along with a lot more serious injuries on the Polish tracks!"!!

Craig Cook: what next?
SteveLyric2 replied to Hamish McRaker's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Over the seasons CFS have sponsored him I'd imagine the figure amounts to a 6 figure sum!! -
You're right - maybe different year, different rules? Different (non-injury) situation - don't know?!
-
Thorsell didn't start the season did he? Therefore Nicholls had to be a re-declaration rather than a temporary fix surely?!
-
I would think the BT Sports Executives are much more delighted with their Champions League and Europa Cup contracts this morning!! Directly opposite to how Sky Sports are probably feeling!

Mainly on Cook's chips I would imagine?! -
Why would anyone take notice of what the Ipswich management say when you diss everything the Poole management say at every opportunity. Poole came close to losing last night because yet again in the main they couldn't gate. The 20 point home win over BV proves they can be comfortable at home. However in the return Cup fixture at Foxhole next Thursday I fully expect the Witches to come out the winners. Happy to be proved wrong but we'll see. NB, perhaps some of the supposed confusion in some of the updates (although Poole twitter updates were spot on as he sits directly over the start/finish line!) were due to the difficulty in recognising which Ippo riders were which due to the confusing team kevlars - also not helped by the faded yellow helmet colours looking very similar to white!!!

2 or 3 years ago CFS used to attend every week and sponsor at Poole - meetings and riders - but had a falling out with Matt Ford and vowed never to come back. and they haven't - even when Swindon visited. I hadn't heard about the CFS/Cook split which is why I had previously stated Cook would never sign for Poole (although I don't think MF gets on with him either!?) -
Swindon. V Peterborough. 06/05/19.

There would be uproar if they dropped Shanes through lack of form - a bit like when Poole dropped him mid season. Remember what you said then Gav?! -
Poole haven't won away at Swindon or Belle Vue, but still top the league at this early stage. Seems your opinion has the usual factual inaccuracies in it Gav!! In the league Poole lost away by 2 points at Peterborough, picked up 2 points from the DRAW at Belle Vue and thrashed the Aces at home by 20 points. No need for changes yet.

Only because he hasn't got a SGBP team place (yet?)
