  1. Probably. with Doyle and Batch living in UK there would be no air fares. I wasn't really looking for comparisons merely to ask what you thought they would demand?
  2. Is that the similar feeling to when you thought KL were going to win something??! As far as not hearing anything since, Danny Ford has been quoted in the local press that team plans are well under way and we're all looking forward to the new challenges in the Championship!
  3. Just as a matter of interest, how much individually do you think those 4 riders would demand in payment? eg Signing on fees, points money, mechanics, vans, air fares, accommodation etc? What would be your ballpark estimates?
  4. Exactly right but it has to be sustainable. The last thing any club or indeed the Premiership itself wants are 'one season' wonders!! And thats no disrespect to any team that may be considering it.
  5. Costs - or more importantly operating to an acceptable budget - are the most important. No money = no club so loyalty and points limits won't mean diddly squat!!
  6. I| thought the management were pleading for more fans a few weeks ago?! Also would Thurs/Mons suit the Glasgow faithful? OR is it the lure of the Eurosport money?
  7. I think you could lose the last 4 words of your post and still be correct L-C
  8. Aussies - Brady and Todd Kurtz Tony and Steve Langdon NZ - Gary and Glenn Allan. GB - Kelvin and Neville Tatum
  9. BK is heading northwards but not sure its to Sheffield?
  10. Honest question - Can Sheffield also run on Mondays for TV meetings? Assuming of course that Mondays are the chosen day for Eurosport?!
  11. Strangely 12 months ago it was suggested Bech would be riding UK in 2019!!? That went well too.
  12. Although in general terms it should be good to retain riders from a winning team, one danger of setting the new points limit to that of the winners is that it might well deter clubs at the bottom of the league from carrying on in the Premiership if they believe they will not be competitive - not from any lack of riders but a lack of finance to afford the top ones. Its a careful line to tread in order not to lose any more Premiership numbers. Clubs who are unable to consistently perform well at home will lose fans no matter who is in their 1-7. If they get consistently hammered away that will also have an effect on home attendances and therefore income - unless they have some sort of financial benefactor. But those tend only to be a temporary solution.
  13. Berwick make it perfectly clear in this week's Star that they are planning for the Championship in 2020 - unless they have new owners, which is unlikely.
  14. Quite strange this is being suggested now that Poole are out of the picture, having suggested the same or similar over several seasons!!!
  15. They probably will at the AGM - but in Poole's case the loan fees will more than cover the £5k.
  16. That is usually at weekends when they have even more variety of sport to broadcast. Midweek speedway should be better served in 2020 - except when the Olympics, Para Olympics and Euro Footie championships are on?!
  17. I'm having too many senior moments lately. Must be the Gavan effect. Sorry. I was having a conversation on another forum about whether Josh could stay at Poole!?
  18. 7.57 but heavily rumoured to be moving south!!!
  19. Every title-winning team has made a similar argument about increasing the points limit in previous years and not only been turned down but effectively shouted down for being so stupid as many clubs would simply not be able to afford it - even though they don't all pay 'silly money' to riders. If it or something close to it is agreed at the AGM, will Buster be increasing his budget at all the clubs he has an interest in in order for them to be competitive? Its more likely to drive clubs away from the Premiership than attracting more to come up - even with the incentive of a Eurosport £50k per club. £50k per year sounds a lot but some riders get that as a single signing on fee in Poland and I'm not just talking GP riders!!! Promoters have been rightly criticised in the past for simply paying out their Sky monies to get the top riders, rather than investing it in their own club's infrastructure, Surely thats a very similar outcome to what TR is suggesting.
  20. The final averages of the 7 Premiership teams is approx 42.5. Also the average of the top and bottom clubs is around 42points+. If the average of the top team is taken ie 46+ then its not simply a question of rider availability for the other 6 (or 7) teams building to that level. Its also about cost!! All clubs operate to their own individual and varied budget based on their very different fixed and variable costs as well as income. Comparisons with other sports are frankly ridiculous as there are many players of a similar standard around and plentiful monies around to be able to afford them. In order for the successful teams to not be penalised too much then maybe the points limit should be increased by 2.5% with the same 2.5% discount being for ALL British riders?
  21. For a person of your calibre I'd have thought they would have at least provided a limo!?
  22. Many many apologies. Don't know why I said Wolves? A senior moment. The shield should have been Poole v Swindon but obviously can't be so Poole beat KL in the Shield so it should be Swindon v Kings Lynn.
