  1. I see Len Silver has Leicester booked for his 2 teams' practice.
  2. The return of greyhounds to Poole Stadium - as with Speedway - is based upon the same 'go-ahead' from Government, so that the furloughed stadium staff can return to work.
  3. Re-wind 2003 KO Cup final v Coventry Bees - home and away legs on the next 2 Wednesdays July 1st and 8th.
  4. Given that clubs are looking at a mid-August start to a truncated season, why are those against any racing this season assuming that the social distancing rules from 4th July will be the same? Its another 6-8 weeks further on when its just as likely that social distancing will be minimal eg .5 of a metre as long as everyone wears a facecovering. Many clubs are offering branded club face masks already so its almost that they've been given a nod from the politicians on the Speedway Parliamentary group?!
  5. Every club will have its own challenges to overcome should speedway be allowed to start with crowds in August. Similarly each club will be working to its own budget and bottom line, so should know how many paying customers would be required to make it viable. If a club has covered all its match-day costs by sponsorship and advertising then only a small number of fans would be sufficient.
  6. Damien Bates BSPL Vice-Chair is speaking in similar vein to Stuart Dickson in his interview with Nigel Pearson on Speedwaygb.co.uk.
  7. Good interview on BBC Radio Oxford this morning featuring Nik Budimir - the potential stadium developer whose intention is to make the stadium facility usable 24/7 and is asking the people of Oxford (Cowley) what other regular sports/activities they would like to see at the stadium in addition to the 2 core sports - speedway and greyhounds!! Karting, Cycle speedway were mentioned as well as indoor activities including conferencing, dance classes etc.
  8. Interesting question as to who is responsible for ensuring social distancing (and its cost) for speedway in stadia owned by other landlords?!
  9. Scunny was also open for practice yesterday. Bomber was there.
  10. At least they've lifted the lockdown of those 'shielding', which by their general age range would likely mean well in excess of 50% of a speedway club's regular attendees
  11. Is the Thistle still open? There was talk some while ago about a complete demolition and re-built hotel/apartments etc?! Also several decent restaurants on and around the quay area. Ranchos Steak House is good on the quay.
  12. Wait for the next announcement. Speedway is aiming for mid-August. See the Stewart Dickson interview on Speedwaygb.co.uk
  13. Sandbanks Hotel is very good as are its sister hotels the Haven Hotel (also in Sandbanks) and the Harbour Heights in Canford Cliffs. The Sandbanks has a very good on-site Chinese Restaurant - assuming nothing has changed due to the Covid??? The club recommends the Hotel Du Vin in Thames Street, Poole. Food and accommodation top notch (but top prices too - particularly August Bank Holiday weekend I imagine.)
  14. Very smart new blue/black team kevlars on show today at the practice in Leicester. Can't see them clashing with any other SGBC Club thank goodness. All individually sponsored by fans and/or local companies, with their names on the back! Very smart but I guess will need some dusting down after the session today.
  15. Did I hear correctly? Polish tracks are now allowed upto 25% capacity?!
  16. In case you haven't read this week's Speedway Star I think you'll find that Rob Godfrey is already ahead with the appropriate lobbying to and by those in Government authority.
  17. A rewind meeting on Weds 24th June - Poole v Swindon from July 29 2015. Darcy's final appearance at Wimborne Road, whilst on loan with the Robins.
  18. Rewind meetings resume on Weds 24th June with a 2015 Poole v Swindon meeting. Darcy's final racing appearance(for Swindon) at Wimborne Road!!
  19. Do try to keep up. No club will run meetings if there continues to be a ban on crowds. Thats been stated officially. As long as the social distancing reduces to 1 metre or below by August and/or fans are required to wear face coverings then there shouldn't be a problem for Poole or any other track with decent viewing options on all sides of their respective stadia.
  20. Missing my regular dose of live racing. Much confidence in this week's Speedway Star that mid-August will be a realistic start date - similar to Sweden - to give a 10-11 week season. Fixture formats for various start dates have already been sorted and agreed. Can't wait personally.
