  1. Rewind meetings resume on Weds 24th June with a 2015 Poole v Swindon meeting. Darcy's final racing appearance(for Swindon) at Wimborne Road!!
  2. Do try to keep up. No club will run meetings if there continues to be a ban on crowds. Thats been stated officially. As long as the social distancing reduces to 1 metre or below by August and/or fans are required to wear face coverings then there shouldn't be a problem for Poole or any other track with decent viewing options on all sides of their respective stadia.
  3. Missing my regular dose of live racing. Much confidence in this week's Speedway Star that mid-August will be a realistic start date - similar to Sweden - to give a 10-11 week season. Fixture formats for various start dates have already been sorted and agreed. Can't wait personally.
  4. Moggo did that too at Poole to great applause - promptly followed by the Poole tractor driver doing the same, which brought the house down!!! Great fun.
  5. The club stated in last Wednesday's rewind and on the website that they would be taking a break for a couple of weeks but would be back with some more rewinds soon. Probably avoiding the return of TV footie.!!!!?
  6. Not forgetting several British clubs are unable to race at weekends 'cos their stadia are also used for other sports!!
  7. I know Danny King has already had some laps on the Leicester track in recent weeks. It'll be good for the others to get some advance experience of the 'new' track as Leicester are another of the clubs wanting to race as soon as allowed.
  8. So its announced today that at least 5 of the 2020 Pirate team will undergo 'behind closed doors' training this month - but not at Wimborne Road?! I guess it will be at a track owned by the respective Speedway Promotion eg. Somerset, IOW, Kings Lynn, BV? PS. Edited for the over-pedantic' "practice"!
  9. Thats already happened at some other tracks too.
  10. Wednesday's (June 10th) Re-wind meeting is the 2018 Final 2nd leg in Norfolk - Kings Lynn v Poole - where Poole took a 1st leg 53-37 lead to defend.
  11. All found now ready for today's auction. Thank goodness.
  12. The lease is for Stadia UK to operate the stadium as a sports/leisure facility, specifically (but not exclusively) for Greyhounds and Speedway. If it doesn't do one and doesn't allow the other then its reneging on the terms of the lease and this would allow the Council to take the lease back or offer it to an alternative operator with similar leisure/sporting provision.
  13. If that is true - despite Stadia UK's statement that dogs will return as soon as the public are allowed to attend - then the Council will be within their rights to take the stadium lease off them.
  14. BSPL have already stated that competitive speedway will not happen behind closed doors - its not affordable for any club. but Danny Ford is still planning to resume when allowed - as are the likes of Edinburgh, Leicester Newcastle etc etc If by mid-July/August - like transport - it becomes a requirement for fans to all wear face masks to public gatherings and social distancing is reduced virtually to nil then whats the problem?
  15. My point was when the lockdown is lifted sufficiently to allow speedway/greyhounds and similar sports to take place with a 'socially- distanced crowd', so that advertisers, sponsors will get their brand seen by fans attending. Whenever/if ever the lockdown is further eased then its likely that the 2-metre rule will also change. Boris (and some other countries) are already suggesting 1 metre distance might be enough and that would equate to just a couple of arm lengths. Danny is clearly of the opinion that it can work otherwise he wouldn't have stated it publicly in yesterday's articles.
  16. If/when the Government decides that it is safe for sports like Speedway to return, with whatever social distancing guidelines are in place at that time, then surely the same will apply to greyhound racing. Stadia UK have said that greyhounds will return to Poole as soon as the public are allowed back in. That means stadium staff being back for at least 3 or 4 days each week, plus an extra day for speedway. The BSPL have said previously that speedway will not happen behind closed doors as it would not be financially sustainable' As soon as permission is given ie the lockdown is relaxed sufficiently then every club will look at their potential income streams to see if it will work. Glasgow have admitted that a great proportion of their revenue comes from fan attendance, however other clubs (possibly including Poole) might have stronger income streams from other sources eg sponsorship, banner advertising and programme advertising etc as well as revenue from admissions.
  17. Danny Ford today stating it is still Poole's intention to race this season if the sport gets the go ahead. If it does then August is the likely start date.
  18. Well done to the Glasgow promotion for making a clearly defined decision ---about Glasgow. As they rightly point out in the statement, every club is different with different stadium set-ups, access etc, quite apart from the availability of riders if and when the sport is given guidance to resume. Glasgow's stated main income source is from attendances (rather than advertising, sponsorship, food and beverage etc) so their decision is clearly made with that uppermost in their minds if social distancing continues as it is now - especially as their recent video 'In The Red' stated they are still losing £100k per season!!! They are not trying to force their decision on other clubs - but other clubs may well make a similar decision based upon their own circumstances but equally they may not
  19. So many Re-wind meetings featuring Poole this week - so I guess the viewing figures will go down then????
  20. Maybe the strong threat to take a certain person to court in what would mean very bad publicity to the wider world made the BSPA act accordingly!! Poole and Coventry fans will never agree on the issue - one can only look back and see the facts as published.
  21. At least Poole benefitted from the excellent Readypower (Rick Frost) sponsorship afterwards when it became clear where the fault was!!
