Connor Bailey - Suspension
SteveLyric2 replied to BuxtonTiger's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
On facebook someone has posted a sort of update that Gillman Speedway have stated that he is back in their line-up for their meeting today/tomorrow, which suggests that someone in authority has restored his licence?! Don't know if its true or not -
They have. Almost every week!!
-
I think they've 'zoomed' it, as they can't actually meet up!!
-
Reading the various messages today on/from the BSPL and club websites I guess all promoters have been encouraged to be positive about starting as soon as is possible in 2021.
-
Good point. Its so long since I worked that I missed that advice!!
-
Riders will also have to live in the same tier as their clubs operate if travelling between tiers (or indeed from other countries) is still the requirement.
-
All very well if you have access to your track/stadium at weekends??!!!
-
...and yet there are still 20+ promoters/business men/fans (Including some in a younger age group) across the UK who declare their intention to run each year with some eg Eastbourne already forward planning for 2022 and beyond!!!
-
All clubs have stated their intention to run in 2021 - with the season fixtures commencing (hopefully) from Easter.
-
He is - along with his brother.

Somerset are supportive of the Glasgow position. A number of other clubs are supportive of 'the bigger picture'?! Poole have stated they are happy to go with the majority - presumably having sounded out possible replacements for Adam Ellis just in case?! Lets not forget the Promoters have been having regular Zoom meetings so they all know what the points options and/or team numbers are likely to be. Its simply that some are keeping their own counsel whilst others go public!!
-
Lets not forget the Rye House Stadium is remaining, just changing its mix of sports if the 'owners' get their way. As far as the terms of the lease are concerned there are differences to other stadia leases mentioned above on that 'speedway' is actually named as a 'must have' sport. Whether that carries any weight at all with the local Council or the owners remains to be seen. The Star article did mention that the Fan Group does have legal and Planning Reg experts on board!!
-
Just wait until there is a total ban on Betting Company advertising and sponsorship!! That is what is funding the Sky/BT coverage.
-
There was an article in the Speedway Star a couple of weeks ago that 'a Rockets Fan Group' were in discussion with the local Council on the basis that what the stadium operators were doing contravened the terms of the lease, which I understand includes the fact the 'Speedway must be included'!!?
-
yes.
-
They cannot meet as a group but have been having weekly Zoom meetings as quoted by Mr Dickson in the Star this week and on the BSPL website today.

Poole Pirates 2021
SteveLyric2 replied to Pirates Of Poole's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Matt has already stated he is prepared to run without the restaurant and glass grandstand facilities. Not sure if that means total closure of the glass stand or just the food and beverage areas? (That may create a challenge for him as to what and where the matchday sponsors as well as fans get to unless the Champs Bar is put to greater use - although obviously you can't see the racing from there?!). Presumably there may be an option for the Club to provide and pay for the staff necessary on a match by match basis? -
Mr Dickson (BSPL and Leicester) says today that discussions have already begun last week and a decision to be made for both top leagues by end December. Presumably individual clubs will already have checked with their riders as to who will not be able to ride so that BSPL have a clear picture of how it may affect the leagues as a whole.

Poole Pirates 2021
SteveLyric2 replied to Pirates Of Poole's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Thats up to Stadia UK - they still have the lease. Interestingly, depending on what Stadia UK may introduce, it gives the Pirates some additional race night options if required. -
In Kent's case its 6 of the 2020 1-7 (excluding Covatti) plus another.
-
Unless the points limit drops by 2 points??!!
-
Promoters have officially stated that they all aim for an Easter weekend start to the 2021 season. Incidentally with regard to rider availability Adam Ellis is a case in point - he has a team place in Poland, Sweden and Swindon so is unlikely to be available for Poole, even though its his closest track to his UK base!
-
The tone of several club articles in this week's Star seems to be discussing the best way forward for those clubs that may have to change their intended 1-7s due to rider (un)availability - due to Polish regs, visas, Brexit regs or whatever. There is even suggestions about going for 6 man teams if necessary?!

Armando Castagna article in SS.
SteveLyric2 replied to Fromafar's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I confess that having read the article I questioned exactly why the FIM exists?? They allow all the different country federations to set their own rules and appear to have no teeth nor appetite for dispute resolution, preferring simply to 'point the finger' at countries getting their own house in order - whatever that means?!.
