  1. Yes with Hans Neilsen's Brovst team joining the Danish top league it's a no brainer for TVT, and as we know with Danish fixtures on Wednesdays, Poole was no longer an option despite as he says in his fb video Poole wanting him back. He's also signed up in Sweden and signed his UK contract (4.81) too - probably given to him by Garry May in the Poole pits eh Lewy?😉🤣
  2. Mervyn only put that plan together because of the intransigent attitude of the British League promoters,at the time. He admitted later that he shouldn't have done it and should have kept the old National League as it was.
  3. But Mick, you must admit you have a particular situation to keep in the public eye with an audience that is primarily committed speedway fans.
  4. The flip side of that particular coin is the Premiership team facing relegation would not go down because of a combination of changing racenights and the risk of smaller attendances!. Its been tried before and simply does not work satisfactorily.
  5. I wonder if the BSPL are talking to the new President of the WSRA to see if any 'encouragement' can be brought to the Eastbourne situation?! Just a thought............!
  6. I only really suggested Scunny because he is BSPL Chairman. I have no knowledge of his financial situation.
  7. So which Championship club might fall on their sword to assist the Prem? Not Glasgow or Poole! How about Scunny, run by the BSPL Chairman and already announced Pickering?!😜
  8. Don't you mean the 'British Premiership is on a downward slope'? The Championship seems to be doing ok with a lot of fight left in it, with clubs (even those in the lower half of the Championship) signing and announcing the likes of Pickering, Lawson, King, Nicholls and Harris. 2026 will undoubtedly by 2 senior leagues plus the NDL, with the Prem clubs having to make some major rider decisions in 2027 if the Poles bring in their new rule restricting where riders can ride.
  9. This will be all part of the story that'll be fed to the Council when the time comes, regarding sourcing a new 'home for the Pirates'!! Incidentally, in the recent 'Call for sites' by BCP Council to come up with its revised Local Plan (the original being turned down by the Local Government Office!), The Poole Stadium site was one of 118 sites (yes, 118!) suggested for possible development, This was a development suggestion by Cala Homes for 200+ homes!! This process will take some time eg. 3-4 years, even assuming the Council accept the proposal and include it specifically in the next Local Plan submissions. In the meantime Danny Ford is predicting a far more 'open' Championship in 2026 and he is 'excited' at the 1-7 he is looking at - even better than the 'strength-in-depth 7' in 2025!! Incidentally in his latest Echo interview today there is the suggestion that the BSN series will be an early season competition!
  10. The greater Premiership costs are purely down to 'top' rider wages and expenses and are therefore funded by a combination of wealthy owners and/or sponsors but clearly cannot be afforded by some eg Oxford ( possibly Sheffield too having lost their main sponsor and being up for sale). Clearly there is a limit to what the public will pay also.
  11. But where is the Premiership money coming from if no TV contract??
  12. Poole is different to Swindon though. He doesn't own the Poole Stadium site. He only leases it from the Council. Having said that, Cala Homes have shown interest in the site in the latest 'suggestions' to be considered in a revised Council Local Plan!! If the Council accept the 'suggestion' as a firm proposal and then include it in a new Local Plan, which will have to be approved by central Government, then that plan will go out to public consultation.
  13. As I've said elsewhere, why don't one of the Prem clubs run a second team, jointly underwritten by all 5. There is a chance that fans of the club could be attracted to attend both team's fixtures, rather than trying to attract new fans from scratch at a new venue?
  14. Well of all the riders advertised to be attending its unlikely to be Charles Wright or Brady Kurtz!!....or is it!??
  15. Delusion, or what?! I assume you mean the promoters of Aces, Stars, Lions and Tigers?!
  16. Not wanting to do something is not the same as not being able to nor afford to!
  17. Many people on here and elsewhere don't seem to have a clue about the costs of hiring a stadium like Cardiff for 10 days or so - and thats before the cost of laying a track and then dismantling it afterwards. The stadium would take into account any lost revenue (bars, hospitality, franchises etc) on the 'dead' days, aside from the days that speedway actually takes place in front of a (mostly) paying audience!
  18. At the end of the day, whatever options are decided, they have to be affordable for all clubs - and fans! Unfortunately not all Clubs have the same cost base - some own their own Stadia, some rent from supportive landlords, some rent from reluctant stadium owners. Some (a few) have supportive corporate main sponsors, many do not! Clubs must be allowed to operate at their preferred level (financially) otherwise more Clubs will be lost. To be 'forced' into one league or another just to suit the few would be wrong imo. If every club operated from the same costbase it might be different, but they don't and it isn't!
  19. Surely a promoter only ceases to be a promoter officially at the AGM? This is when a new Board Director will be elected.
  20. He's still listed as a director at Companies House but I know he wanted to step down! Maybe its something that can only formally be done at an AGM?!😇
  21. They set the 3-year points limit (40 points) at last year's AGM - subject to the same number of Championship clubs! Lets not forget that Scunny (Rob Godfrey) and Poole (Danny Ford) are 50% of the BSPL Board of Directors. They other 2 are Chris Louis and Damien Bates.
