Bjarne 2nd top-scored with 11+1 in the away defeat at Holsted!! (Masters only scored 5) -
Lee quoted in Speedy Star as 'fully expecting to be back at Swindon for 2022'!

I think the start of the Swedish League has been deferred to June!

Belle Vue v Sheffield, Monday May 17th 7:30pm

Surely a change of normal rules for a less than normal season?! Maybe for TV meetings as the last thing TV would want is to see a couple of 'wobblers' (no disrespect to NL riders) in addition to the rising stars. -
Belle Vue v Sheffield, Monday May 17th 7:30pm

The big question is whether both teams will have a full 1-7 or if guests will be in demand. Should be interesting bearing in mind 5 of the 6 Premiership teams are due to be racing that night! -
Eurosport have the contract for both British speedway plus GPs from next year 2022. When the contract was initially announced there was talk of Discovery/Eurosport setting up a 'Speedway Channel' in the longer term, so I guess their presentation will be very professional.

All incoming Aussie riders will have to quarantine. Several are leaving it to the last possible minute in case the govt reduces the quarantine period. Thats also why some clubs don't have fixtures until end May or early June.
-
....and reduced regularity of flights!

Govt housing targets always affect local council decisions. (The occasional brown envelope also helps too!)

Poole Pirates 2021
SteveLyric2 replied to Pirates Of Poole's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Depending on how much attendances are restricted from May 17th, Poole only have 2 home meetings currently scheduled before the next significant date of June 21st when all/most restrictions of lockdown are likely to be lifted if current progress is maintained, so it may not be a huge problem for the club. -

Why would the glass grandstand be used during the day? -
Maybe just maybe someone was trying to make a story when there isn't one!!?

Poole Pirates 2021
SteveLyric2 replied to Pirates Of Poole's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The debate has been whether the glass grandstand/restaurant/bars/loos are to be open and if so how much it may affect the weekly rental. Way back Matt Ford had said he would be prepared to run without the glass grandstand being operational - but I'm not sure that would be easily achieveable. -

Danny Ford in the Echo today confirms that Poole have NOT taken any of the Govt loan cash made available to English Speedway! Also, advance ticketing arrangements and pricing to be announced in the next couple of weeks, whilst confirming that all season ticket holders (those rolled over from 2020 plus new ones for 2021) will get automatic entry to all qualifying fixtures.. -
Poole Pirates 2021

The club confirm that they will still be using Middlo and/or Havvy as team managers - Middlo having weekend business commitments. Havvy also planning to be at some of the Pirates home meetings. -
Where has it been stated that IOW had problems with sponsorship? The reason they have withdrawn from BSPL is due to rule changes for the National League inc points limits, without any chance to vote or comment. As IOW have said they have even sounded out joining the French league and are planning a full summer programme of meetings.
-
Surely they don't need to make any statement until the 2021 AGM requires all clubs to give their intention to run in 2022?!

More concerned with the podcast maybe? -
Got mine by RM this morning as usual (well 9 times out of 10). Its a good read too. New SCB regs and interview with Stefan Neilsen.

Peterborough Panthers 2021
SteveLyric2 replied to Noodles's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
One of the worries for Panthers is the issue seemingly likely to affect those Danish riders' availability and their ability to travel back and forth as required. Hans and Bjarne expressed their concerns in last week's Speedy Star. -
Missed - but very expensive - opportunities?
-
I think you would be ill-advised to travel to any away meeting without having a pre-purchased ticket - at least up to June 21st! Some clubs eg Plymouth and Eastbourne + probably others have announced their advance ticketing policy on their websites and will/have likely announcements in their respective local media. Other clubs are simply waiting a little longer for final confirmation on attendance numbers/ social distancing/facemasks.

correct. Although it also depends on the number of new Covid cases between now and then?! ps. I hear there's a meeting with Stadia UK tomorrow.
