Sad times. Lets hope that everyone reads the whole statement which gives all the reasoning rather than reacting to just the headline and trying to 'point a finger'!!

Everyone is going to try to get the KO Cup meetings on as early as possible so there are bound to be some fixture switches.

Matt Ford did say that he could get a consortium of local businesses together if the lease became available!! Not sure if that was realistic or just a 'media sound-byte' when Stadia UK stopped the greyhounds?! But he does still have local contacts and is still reasonably well in with the Council. As far as housing development is concerned there was (under the old Poole Council) a plan to develop part of the stadium site which would include the lorry park through to the empty office blocks on Wimborne Road, providing I think approx 500 dwellings. However I'm not sure if this is still a plan under the new BCP Council, who have this week announced that their housing targets do fall short of what the Govt requires!!

The financial barrier for Poole Town FC to return to the stadium is that they would have to repay £thousands to the F.A. that they've received for ground improvements at their Tatnum ground. £Thousands that they don't have as evidenced by the continued appeals for assistance to keep going. Similar reasons for not groundsharing with AFC Bournemouth.

Reading CVS' programme notes from last Monday I would think that any meeting that can be realistically deferred to after June 21st with no crowd restrictions is almost a certainty!! Not just at Wolves either...........!!

Definitely not!!

Well its only my opinion having spent much of my working life in local events, hospitality and leisure industries. Even now retired, regular Friday/Saturday meetings would rule me out due to other obligations. To get families to bring their kids along to anything on a regular basis in this day and age would be remarkable for any popular event/activity let alone speedway. For holidaymakers it is well known that Fri/Sat is 'changeover day' for hotels/guest houses, campsites etc. A midweek fixture is traditionally much easier for holiday makers to plan into their week's stay!

Wednesdays have traditionally been Poole's home night. Fridays or Saturdays would see speedway competing with a host of other attractions at a time when people traditionally go out and spend their money on other things - and there are plenty of other options locally despite what some may think.! The occasional weekend meeting may work if announced and well planned in advance so as not to clash with any other attractions. As things begin to recover from lockdown and other sports/activities/entetainment return to normal, many take place at weekends and will risk splitting your audience.

I don't disagree with any of that except the 4th para. Danny and volunteer workforce were working at the track a couple of weekends ago, so a start has been made albeit a small one. How about starting a 'crowd funding' to help with the cost of the extra marshalls? Or maybe the supporters club (R.E.F.) might like to donate as they have continued to take member subscriptions right through lockdown?

Not surprised at the call off bearing in mind the reduced capacity had to be outside ie no indoor viewing/catering/bars etc.

I guess the phone option is reliant on having someone in the office 24/7?! Thats of course if every club actually has an office 24/7 rather than just on matchdays!

Am I right in thinking that Birmingham are using a different ticketing company/system to many of the other clubs?

Football aren't allowing away fans! If any have booked to come down then I hope they've booked a 'flexible' reservation.

Its Matt that has been doing the negotiating!! Believe it or not there are communication links between France and UK!!! A number of other clubs are operating a similar 'block' approach - I guess it depends on exactly what reduced capacity each club is operating to and who sets that capacity? Its just as well Matt retains good relationships with BCP Council as I hear that its mainly down to their pressure that the stadium will open at all!! Anyway all season ticket holders have been emailed today (or if no email then a tele call in next 24 hours).

Personally I think its a great shame not to be able to call on 5 others from your bubble/2 households! What we don't know is who set the 30% capacity? I can't imagine it was Matt/Danny!! So some fans will unfortunately be unlucky for hopefully this one meeting. Lets not forget that more stadium stewards will be required - probably as a condition of the Council - plus the question of who pays for them? Also still no clarification about the glass grandstand/bars/restaurant/loos etc? Still more info to come in 48 hours.......

Great news - yes the Pirates are back at home on 9th June vs Berwick. Bring it on.

So 18 months or so ago Glasgow announced they had pulled out of league racing as they couldn't afford to run with reduced numbers attending. Now it appears that due to Scottish rules they can run behind closed doors?! Presumably this is due to the Govt grant/cash handout (rather than a loan) ??

The Berwick home fixture is the only scheduled home fixture before the Govt lifting of Stage 4 Lockdown on June 21st! Bearing in mind Poole's decision to drop to the Championship was primarily financial, perhaps its just not viable to run with a reduced crowd. Poole still have to find the money to pay the riders for the away meetings!!
