Poole Pirates Vs Redcar Bears 22nd September
SteveLyric2 replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
So Poole retain their 100% home league record, scoring 1000 match points overall with an aggregate for/against of +206 points. Not bad at all - onwards and upwards. -
If it is to be one league next year and if BSPL retain their 'Rising Stars' plan then every team will have 2 Rising Stars and 5 'senior' riders which imo would have to make the standard closer to this season's Championship strength! The number of fixtures (League and Cup) should give those 2021 Double-uppers a similar financial earnings opportunity as long as clubs don't go crazy with deals. Of course Eurosport would have to be OK with the format including doing away with Mon/Thurs fixed race nights so that every club can run on their optimum regular race night.

Ben Basso banged his ribs on his other side to the ribs he damaged in Denmark last week! The only way he will heal fully is with rest!! -

I think Redcar will run Poole close - but this season at home 'running Poole close' means a Poole win by10-12 points!! -

Yes I confess I was a little surprised myself. I think he aggravated a previous leg injury but he's declared him self fit and ready to go so fingers crossed. -

Anders Rowe is fit again and guests at 6. Ben Basso still 'hopeful'!! -
Poole may well be taking up a legal challenge against their landlords - Stadia UK who are the current leaseholders of the Council-owned stadium - who are trying to impose a massive rent increase on the Poole promotion without any negotiation!! Having solicitors as one of the club sponsors and also a partner of Matt Ford in his French business offers good support to the club's position who have always paid their rent on time and coughed up a 3% annual year-on-year increase without issue. The Council have publicly stated - on video - more than once that they want Poole Speedway to be retained on site at the stadium as they recognise the value to the town and they would 'get involved' if the leaseholders were becoming unreasonable. Watch this space........

If he'd been suspended then he wouldn't have had the r/r facilty granted last night at Leicester. The club are hopeful he will be ok for Wednesday. -

Also depends on whether Ben Basso has recovered? He hit his head and ribs quite heavily in Wednesday's Danish Final crash!! We have enough guest options for Number 6 who have decent experience of the Poole track, but I still think it'll be a close one, which unfortunately I shall be viewing from behind the glass in the hospitality area rather than my usual seat in the grandstand. -
....which is the reason Poole run on Wednesdays. Poole have gone with Thurs/Mons when in the Prem and a Friday and Sunday in the Championship recently - all of which have struggled to get up to a regular Wednesday attendance. In the summer Poole has lots of other attractions especially at weekends which are also 'change over' days for holidaymakers. The promotion sought the view of fans towards the end of the 2019 season and regular Wednesday speedway with a wider choice of opposition was easily the preferred option. Also at that time the greyhounds were still operating 3-4 days a week.

Maybe you should listen to Glasgow's Facena podcast, Plymouth's Garry May interview and note Kings Lynn's 2022 signings already. Plus Poole won't go back to Premiership if Mon/Thurs fixed nights are still insisted upon. Also lets not forget the Eurosport contract that presumably insists on a 'senior' league?

So with riders retiring and going to one league, presumably still restrictions from Poland, where are the riders going to come from?
