Kings Lynn Stars v Sheffield Tigers 19/08/21
SteveLyric2 replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I know of at least one promoter that put forward the "one league with teams of 5 riders (as Denmark)" proposal for this current season, although voted down at the time, I won't be surprised if it surfaces again at the November AGM?! -
Redcar vs Poole 20/08/21
SteveLyric2 replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Ben Cook won his 2 rides when guesting at Redcar before getting injured. -
Thats because both are Wednesday tracks and Poole have a home meeting on Friday 3rd September to allow for Brum to retain their Wednesday. Good co-operation between the clubs.
-
Has Chris Holder not signed yet then?
-
Good of Lee Kilby to 'step up' for the video, but apart from saying 'a lot of rumours are not accurate', he didn't actually say anything else relevant other than 'talks are continuing'!
-
So Bjarne will be the Gladiators number 1 on Tuesday v Brummies with Crumpy's average dropping from 12.00 to 6.98 (Yes 6.98!). I wonder if Plymouth will be considering any rider changes before the 28/8 cut-off??
-
Maybe slightly different when the broadcaster is BBC plus BT Sport!! And not forgetting that most RL stadia offer a modern, comfortable experience for the spectator!
-
Don't forget vans and rider insurance.

Never gets dark enough at the moment.

Adam Ellis' Championship average is only 7.92 so none of the 'big hitter' guests were eligible. Nicol has only achieved 6.07 but with Scunny reporting that 6 of their 7 riders picked up various injuries last night its not surprising they are using more than one guest plus r/r. Well done to the Scunny management for not asking the tie to be rescheduled!! ps. Adam is reporting both sore knees and a swollen wrist!!
-
So no statement yet - official or otherwise?!
-
Best wishes and a speedy recovery to Swindon boss Alun Rossiter who finally goes into hospital today to get his knee replacement op done.

I was answering the poster that said 'even the best supported Championship sides don't get more than 1000'! Presumably Eastbourne do loads of promotional activity in their holiday town? (Eastbourne still is a holiday town isn't it? Although I know Bournemouth was the place people went to retire and Eastbourne the place people went to die!)
-
Poole regularly get more than a 1000 every week when the stadium is fully open- and thats just in the main grandstand!!
-
I read this on Facebook! Is this just one customer? ...and approximately how much profit did you make yesterday or did you break even?

Poole Pirates 2021
SteveLyric2 replied to Pirates Of Poole's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Danny Ford and helpers have had a presence there previously. Maybe with all the issues at the stadium at the moment its taking up most of his time? The event is only on Fridays in July/August and Pirates have been due to ride away on a couple of those! -
Thanks for clarifying with regard to any stadium subsidy, so as the stadium is seperate I presume you pay a rental and with due respect you haven't answered the question - Do your Thursday race track evenings make a profit? I'm interested as many of your activities could be paid for by sponsors - which is fine. Many of your giveaways could also be donated - which is also fine!
-
I'll do nothing but applaud the IOW team BUT how much does it cost, do they generate more income than cost or are the Thursday night activities subsidised by other stadium events/activities?

How Well is Your Club Promoted?
SteveLyric2 replied to IainB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Any business would be doing a cost/benefit analysis of any activity. Poole are very good at getting local media coverage - newspapers/tv and radio often have interviews with Matt, Danny Ford or Middlo - as well as terrific pre and post meeting coverage in the main local paper including online -and have got much better at using social media including showing meeting highlights on facebook which fans then share accordingly. In the past they have also had a merchandising presence in the main shopping centre. Of course at the moment the number one priority is getting back to a solid financial footing at the same time as having a successful team - both of which are progressing well with increased crowds (when the stadium allows!!). I'm interested in the bus advertising concept as when I worked in the events and media industry we carried out some research as to who had seen a particular product advertised on the buses and more importantly who had actually made a purchase of that product as a result of seeing the bus ad? The results were very poor although if part of a wider awareness marketing campaign across various different media, then it may get better results - but at what cost??
