Poole Pirates 2021
SteveLyric2 replied to Pirates Of Poole's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
...and one of Glasgow's remaining fixtures is home v Leicester, which could be a win to either team! -
Any truth in the whisper that Scunny have objected to Poole using Ryan Douglas? Just an unconfirmed whisper...........??

Plymouth Gladiators 2021
SteveLyric2 replied to Marksman's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think Plymouth can be excused if they paid retainers to any rider, given that they weren't accepted into the Championship til the last minute and had to put together a relatively competitive 1-7. The Promotion seem very pleased with how things have gone (presumably including finance) so as long as it worked for them............... -
So which riders are now rushing to Scunny now that the Redcar v Leicester meeting is rained off?

Ah didn't realise it was a tongue-in-cheek comment? So difficult with some of yours. Never sure if you are serious or deluded or seriously deluded.......?! -
No different to any other season!

I thought your Team Manager Garry May said in interview that it wouldn't be one league! -
Steve and Danny (both track specialists) can each take a r/r ride. It will however be a steep learning curve for both Bens and probably Havvy too! At least there are a few more options for a decent guest next Saturday as r/r is always a risk in case of further injury as we experienced at Brum!! Lets hope there are no more positive tests for riders or mechanics!

Ah yes Danny King and Steve Worrall 16 and 14 points respectively!!

Kent have all sorts of Council restrictions imposed on their stadium use eg curfew - insisting on 1830 hours start time; allowed race days; plus I cannot see Len Silver opting for top-tier racing at considerable extra cost. As for foreign leagues they don't seem too bothered about sticking to their allocated race days - Poland run whenever they want; Sweden run Tuesdays AND Thursdays etc Also there may be some stipulation from Eurosport as to what days are preferred for their live sport schedules.
-
Depends a lot on whether the 'top' league retain fixed race nights of Mondays and Thursdays? That would probably rule out a number of clubs moving up or returning to the 'Prem'!! The '2 Rising Stars at reserve' is something proposed at last seasons BSPL AGM for both leagues, so assuming they stick with it shouldn't be a surprise for any club?! That would effectively mean teams of 5 'senior' riders!

The Plymouth Promoter (Mark) said in video interview after the meeting that he was sorry that the track was far too dusty and there was hardly any overtaking??!! -

Didn't the commentators at BV on Monday say they were at Wolves next Monday?! -
Cut off dates for leagues

If there is to be an October lockdown (denied today incidentally) its suggested it will be during half term which is traditionally towards the end of the month -
Sheffield may have a stronger case to replace Stefan as using guests once you get to the play-offs will be a nightmare in the Prem as you can only use a guest from a non-play-off team!! (plus Sheffield have a man on the BSPL Management Committee so 'in the best interest of Speedway'!)

Strongest second tier ever?
SteveLyric2 replied to ruckerroo's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The stature of the riders makes very little difference to the standard of racing. You only have to look at the last SGP!! -
I have been told by a current promoter (no clues as to who?) that running in the Championship is about two thirds the cost of running Premiership. He did give me the actual figures but this is not the place to share!!
