Poole Pirates 2021
SteveLyric2 replied to Pirates Of Poole's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Yes he is as Hume is 5th in the averages and moves up into the 1-5 with Steve Worrall also going to 1.!! Plus with Stefan Nielsen's average now at 4.79 it gives a couple more guest options if needed!! Its a shame that the +5% home guest rule doesn't apply to reserves - although the BSPL listing (issue 22) seems to differ - unless they have relaxed this ruling for this truncated season?! -
So how many new houses have been built and occupied since speedway last ran there in 2019? I thought there was a ban on any more new builds?
-
Nowhere at the moment - its for next season so expect some 'noise' during the close season, unless its all settled amicably!! (or semi-amicably) Danny Ford is 100% positive that Poole will be racing next season - and beyond!
-
...a bit like the 'anti-Sergeant' starting tapes!!!
-
That's only because Chris Jack and Brady are at Wimborne Road most weeks!!
-
Also looks like Swindon may well be back in 2022 so more riders will be in demand.
-
Well at least 3 of those now look more positive then negative to run in 2022 so maybe enough for 2 leagues still or at least a 7 or 8 team Premiership?!

Poole Pirates Vs Redcar Bears 22nd September
SteveLyric2 replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
So Poole retain their 100% home league record, scoring 1000 match points overall with an aggregate for/against of +206 points. Not bad at all - onwards and upwards. -
If it is to be one league next year and if BSPL retain their 'Rising Stars' plan then every team will have 2 Rising Stars and 5 'senior' riders which imo would have to make the standard closer to this season's Championship strength! The number of fixtures (League and Cup) should give those 2021 Double-uppers a similar financial earnings opportunity as long as clubs don't go crazy with deals. Of course Eurosport would have to be OK with the format including doing away with Mon/Thurs fixed race nights so that every club can run on their optimum regular race night.

Ben Basso banged his ribs on his other side to the ribs he damaged in Denmark last week! The only way he will heal fully is with rest!! -
First season in NDL then?!

I think Redcar will run Poole close - but this season at home 'running Poole close' means a Poole win by10-12 points!! -

Yes I confess I was a little surprised myself. I think he aggravated a previous leg injury but he's declared him self fit and ready to go so fingers crossed. -

Anders Rowe is fit again and guests at 6. Ben Basso still 'hopeful'!! -
Poole may well be taking up a legal challenge against their landlords - Stadia UK who are the current leaseholders of the Council-owned stadium - who are trying to impose a massive rent increase on the Poole promotion without any negotiation!! Having solicitors as one of the club sponsors and also a partner of Matt Ford in his French business offers good support to the club's position who have always paid their rent on time and coughed up a 3% annual year-on-year increase without issue. The Council have publicly stated - on video - more than once that they want Poole Speedway to be retained on site at the stadium as they recognise the value to the town and they would 'get involved' if the leaseholders were becoming unreasonable. Watch this space........
