So is Cook 8.79. Doesn't Bailey have British parentage and therefore a 2.5% reduction?
-
Yes maybe, but its not the amount its the guarantee of actually being paid regularly!!
-
If its to be near the town centre where on earth could the site be? They are hardly likely to put it in Poole Park!?
-
Turn the track through 90 degrees, knock down both stands and replace with something far more suited to modern day viewing for both sports, add more terracing and community facilities - job done! Where's the man with the money and time to get it all done so that speedway doesn't go missing for 2-3 years?!
-
Oh well I'll bite. Poole aren't in limbo!! They are just in legal negotiation over the imposed rent increase and not naming riders until its sorted. Nowhere has it been said that Poole won't run - but it may be a reasonable negotiating position with either the Council and/or the Stadium management to give the impression that racing is under threat?!
-
Interesting - and possibly unrelated - news item on the local radio this morning that Poole Town FC (with a new chap on board who has Football League ambitions apparently) are looking at a new 'community stadium development' and have already been in discussions with developers and the local authority to move things forward.? Goodness knows where the site might be and although these things will always take a lengthy period of time to progress it'll be interesting to keep an eye on any updates - and whether it will/might impact on the future of Poole Stadium in years to come?!
-
There is also the Day Nursery on site which uses the Champs Function suite. No idea what they are charged.
-
He may have been no problem at Plymouth because Garry May was well briefed as to what the issues were!!
-
Matt has just appeared on BBC South Today, repeating his radio interview from this morning. The dispute with the stadium owners is as much to do with justifying the imposed rent increase when Gaming International have let a number of areas of the stadium dilapidate as well as withdrawing the catering/hospitality facilities.
-
True plus some other stuff!!
-
The deal with Plymouth was agreed between the clubs before the parting of the ways was announced - which was less to do with on-track scores and more to do with things off-track!!
-
Just to be clear, as has been stated before, the parting of the ways with Zane Keleher was very little to do with his on track scores, more a case of off track 'not biting the hand that feeds you'!!
-
Matt's comments in the fuller radio interview this morning went on to say that the club will be seeking full council support after the Council leader publicly stated how important Poole Speedway is to the town's infrastructure and Tourism offer. With the local Echo spacing out the speedway stories I would imagine they will pick up on the 'dispute' in the next couple of days or so.
-
Matt Ford quoted on BBC RADIO SOLENT Sports round up this morning that no rider announcements will be made until 'dispute with stadium owners' is sorted.
-
It was the Speedway Star quoting the BSPL confirming Basso was/is a Poole asset and as the deal was done after the Edinburgh v Poole Cup Final first leg then I guess the emphasis on a fee - purchase or loan - will fall to Glasgow unless Glasgow only want to pay a loan fee and Panthers are prepared to buy him. I guess the BSPL's Board Director Danny Ford will keep everyone posted!!
-
Matt never announces until all 7 are signed and sealed - its been the same for a number of seasons - and then its 'drip-fed' to give the media maximum opportunity for coverage over the 'off-season'! As far as the rent situation is concerned, there is still an issue and its more down to various people's availability for a 'sit-down' rather than being a 'major' stumbling block!
-
...or maybe not til after Christmas!!!!?
-
Where has it been stated that Covatti is considering UK racing again?
-
I read that as the last thing being the final rider?! Maybe its a paperwork thing, visa or something taking a bit of extra time. As we know from past experience if one final piece of the jigsaw doesn't fit or is missing then it can throw the rest of the team-building into a re-think on points available etc.
-
Aside from what may or may not have been said publicly (and my recollection is that Ben did say he would love to return if the fixtures could be sorted out?!), the only people that actually know for sure are Ben and Matt/Danny Ford - plus possibly a couple of his Poole sponsors. So we've read Danny's comments and now we await the Ben interview in a forthcoming Speedway Star. Then it'll be 'make your mind up' time! PS. As much as I dislike giving £2.50 every meeting to Stadia UK, I do however still use the stadium car park as the old legs aren't what they used to be!!!

Yep.

Scunthorpe Scorpions 2022
SteveLyric2 replied to IronScorpion's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Take him to Poole - a decent meeting on a more than decent track with the guarantee of a grandstand seat or if a bit cold a seat in the glass-fronted 'restaurant' stand! -
Danny mentioned it as a possibility (which he claimed Ben was aware of?) to avoid some of Basso's Danish commitments in the Speedway Star this week!! The forthcoming interview with Benjamin should make for interesting reading...........
