Plymouth Gladiators 2022
SteveLyric2 replied to jbell1995's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Let's hope it's the right package?! -
...and that was due to off-track issues rather than on-track performances, although his assessed starting average of 4.00 only increased to 4.05 by the end of season so a fairly good decision to let Plymouth have him I reckon(eh Lewy?!). Talked the talk but couldn't walk the walk.

So if the final place does go to Lawson, the Poole 1-7 will be something like this (including the 2.5% reduction for the Brits):- 1. Worrall 9.05 2. Ben Cook 5.52 3.Lawson 8.40 4. Z.Cook 4.25 5. King 8.99 6. Kemp 3.58 7. Ablitt 2.00 Total = 41.79 If (as some have rumoured) it might be Ellis on 7.47, as long as he's not in Denmark; or not now agreed a deal - originally refused! - with Brum; or is not doing Championship at all until Europe fixtures/contracts have ended?

Oxford Cheetahs 2022
SteveLyric2 replied to CowleyCheetahs's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Strange that Danny Ford of Wednesday track Poole is on the BSPL Management Board and party to those decisions?! -
Many would say that working together to keep the weakest link competitive has been the downfall of the sport

Either that or a meat-free diet!?
-
So its the Cook Brothers confirmed.

2022 championship predictions

He was excellent in Monty Python! -
Peter Oakes and Russell Lanning seem to care - on a regular basis too! You do have to actually read the the right papers rather than just look at the pictures!!
-
At least £2!!!
-
Terry Russell seemed very confident of speedway running in 2023 in last week's Speedway Star interview as well as having a 'pop' at the FIM and Polish Speedway!!
-
Kemp I reckon.

Scunthorpe Scorpions 2022
SteveLyric2 replied to IronScorpion's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well he has to be the best rider somewhere I guess?! -
With Coventry team manager Rosco admitting it!!!
-
Of course you are correct with the 12 meetings. I was having a senior moment with all the Poole stadium stuff going on!!!!
-
Any other suggestions for reducing your club's income?

Poole Stadium - possible future redevelopment
SteveLyric2 replied to Jason.C's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Just to add that this has the full support and encouragement of the Poole promotion who cannot (at the moment) show their hand officially' I've sent my comments along similar lines as above but re your last sentence I have also added a bit about any new stadium redevelopment should be under a different leaseholder ie NOT G.I. (Personally I cannot see why the Stadium is not specifically mentioned by name as the Dolphin Leisure Centre and Lighthouse theatre are? Although I still feel that the soon-to-be-announced Poole Town FC proposals - currently under a confidentiality agreement - will have a lot to do with it!!) -
Well done Jason - I saw from Facebook that you'd done this (with thanks from Matt too.) I've already posted my comments on their consultation document, So Come On Poole fans please add your comments on the Council document and show the politicians what supporting a successful Speedway Club is all about!!
-
Not just late season - Chris, Jack and Brady were in the Poole pits more than for their Premiership and other clubs for most of the season. Expect them to continue with that support (Jack spannering for Ben/Zach - if confirmed?)
-
That should keep STEVEHOLS54 happy!! and when he's done 12 meetings he becomes a Poole asset.
-
More coming later this week according to today's Echo report of Danny and Steve's return...........!

Targetting teenagers and those into their early twenties will do nothing unless the message and/or incentive is relevant to them. Apologies to Brum fans as this is a general speedway malaise - even those clubs that still attract decent crowds - BUT promoting the sport as a 'family-friendly' sport will more likely turn off any potential teenage audience. With teenagers described earlier as 'hunting in packs' then build up each fixture as a 'dangerous, thrilling spectacle' with possible vendettas against the opposing teams. Create some tensions in the local media between riders of each team and get the riders to be involved in some 'handbags'-type arguments. A bit of occasional booing amongst the fans would add to the tensions which must then be covered in the media.

The big difference being that when attending McDonalds you know exactly what you are going to get and are in decent surroundings. At speedway meetings that cannot always be guaranteed week after week

The deadline to respond to this draft document is 7th March!! Its interesting - not to say worrying - that the stadium site is within the 'regenerating the town centre' area, but without any specific reference to any scheme, other than introducing tall buildings north of the railway line, whereas sites like the Dolphin Leisure Centre are specifically mentioned for 'enhancement'!! You have to subscribe to the BCP local plan website in order to respond to the consultation document and with the rental agreed with G.I. only for one year, I feel a mass lobbying coming on at some point soon.
