  1. Well that went on a bit!!!! Well done to Plymouth and Leicester. Definitely would have won if MPT hadn't withdrawn. No excuses but the track was so slick and dusty. Danny King made the wrong choice of gates 1 and 3 in heat 1. Anyway onwards and upwards.
  2. Good luck to Eastbourne -----the South Coast rivalry is sorely missed.
  3. Poole reckoned it was 30% cheaper to run Championship rather than Prem. This is partly due to doubling up (or down) riders accepting a lower pay rate in the Championship as they have the comfort or financial cushion of a Prem place. It doesn't just apply to heat leaders either. There will always be stronger and weaker teams in whatever format the leagues take. Even bringing back some sort of rider control can only work up to a point and many riders won't be told where they can ride. A way forward is to have one league with 2 regional divisions plus an NDL.
  4. Such a shame. Is there anyone who is friendly with any of the Newcastle United FC staff, management or ex/current players? It would be nothing more than pocket money to any of them to help out?!
  5. Riders will go wherever there's a guarantee of being paid.
  6. So August 24th. Loads of holidaymakers in Dorset, local schools still on hols. A huge crowd in attendance,
  7. Loads of Tigers and Monarchs fans travelled to Poole last season!!
  8. No, the Czechs changed their visa rules the day after Poole declared him in their 1-7 hence why he never rode and was eventually replaced by Basso,
  9. Looking forward to a well supported Wednesday night of speedway - as usual!! Sensible to hold it towards the end of the League fixtures so that the riders with the best averages can represent their clubs.
  10. The Echo have printed it today. 'It could be on a usual Poole race day as a Wednesday should ensure the best riders availability' and probably in the summer. I wonder if it will dislodge Middlo's proposed testimonial meeting date in late August?
  11. As predicted track specialist (this season at least) Howarth guests. The reserve match-ups will be interesting with Ablitt up against his best mate McGurk. Hopefully Danny King has his machinery sorted out now after his 15 points max in the heats at Mildenhall yesterday - even though Richard Lawson won the Final!! Wednesday is the last meeting before the averages are sorted for July with likely Steve Worrall going to Number 1 for the Pirates
  12. ....apart from a load of drunk Poles!!!!!!!!!!
  13. I really can't see how a track like the NSS would be better to host the Riders Championship. Judging by the last BV meeting on Eurosport they struggle to get a decent crowd for their own meetings - and thats despite them challenging for the Prem top spot!!
  14. Isn't the number on the front/back of their kevlars/jackets a bit of a clue?!
  15. Away fans are always more likely to travel for 'team speedway' be it 4's or League or Cup rather than domestic individual meetings
  16. Just as well he can't be used in away meetings this month!!! I guess it'll be Howarth or Pickering guesting at Poole the next day?!
  17. Danny King changed bikes after his first races so I hope he sticks with them and sends the other (new?) one back to the tuner!!!
  18. If you see his interview on PirateCast.Live he is fully fit. It was his machinery that took the biggest hit when he crashed against Edinburgh. Just as much of a concern is that both Cooks didn't exactly cover themselves with glory last season when Poole and Plymouth visited Scunny.
  19. Didn't think you could re-sign a rider once he'd gone?!
  20. He's in the team according to the Poole website preview. Havvy as Poole Team Manager.
  21. ....even if the foreseeable future might only be another 2-3 seasons........?!
