  1. All very well considering changes, but where will the replacements come from??
  2. Marketing and selling a 'once a year' gp ( even with attendances falling!) is an entirely different proposition to weekly team speedway for 6/7 months of the year. As far as your scattergun approach to 99% of the populous is concerned any marketing expert would laugh all the way to the bank.
  3. Poole got Basso in on a 2year sponsored work permit intending to use him in 2022 as well. It then became apparent that Glasgow had approached him and even though Poole were prepared to work around his Danish fixtures he chose Glasgow. So Poole negotiated an asset swap with the Facennas - Basso for Lawson.
  4. OK assuming that all those things need correcting (and they are not just your continual drum banging) I ask again what would be the themes and messages of a national marketing campaign, and who would be the target audience of such a campaign?
  5. The track wasn't fine - but fair play to the track staff for getting it into a raceable condition in the extra hot conditions. (Looking at the forecasted temperatures for next week, goodness knows what conditions will be like - at least its nice and smooth now though!) PS Could somebody please contact the handful of Glasgow fans on the first bend and ask them to return all the shale they must have been covered in and taken away with them......!!
  6. As a serious question - to all those budding Marketing experts on here - what would be your themes and messages in a National Speedway Marketing and Publicity campaign?? Answers on the back of your nearest 'fag packet' please.
  7. Judging by the photos of the track prep on facebook this morning, there has been plenty of water put down. Whether the track can hold it in this ultra hot weather is the key - along with whatever they've decided to do with the starting grid?! Hoping that if Danny wins the coin toss he goes back to choosing 2&4 in heat 1.!!!!
  8. Bearing in mind Havvy has virtually no use of his left arm/hand, its hardly surprising he doesn't bother with a programme!!
  9. ...plus a full practice session tomorrow (excepting Zach who is in Poland) so I think we just have to accept the track is likely to be hot, ultra slick and dusty for most of the meeting.
  10. Well Craig Cook has pulled out of a guest booking tonight at belle Vue and if he rides like he did as a 'home track specialist' for Team GB on Saturday then I doubt we'll have any problem. Referee is Christina Turnbull who will also be watching for any rolling starts............!!
  11. So its now the day before the regular Tuesday home meeting and still no preview on the Plymouth website?! It hardly promotes the fixture when its left til the day before to mention it officially. It should at least be updated over the preceding weekend.....
  12. Whichever Prem club they could sign for, there are only 5 other teams so 'racing in so many meetings' shouldn't be an issue!?
  13. Still got KO Cup meeting(s) to schedule in!!
  14. Yes but the reduction of speedway clubs has been as much to do with stadium closures as it has been the fault of speedway promotions!! You surely can't blame the speedway clubs at Coventry, Lakeside, Somerset and Swindon for example! They would all still be racing if the stadia were available.
  15. ....and yet the sport still continues as long as there are stadia that agree to host it!
  16. So as well as Bomber's bike issues, Danny King got a puncture in heat 15 as well.
  17. Monarchs top 2 scored exactly the same as Pirates top 3 - that where the difference was. Well done Monarchs.
  18. You can get the magazine on subscription. Not sure if all the detail is in the online version www.speedwaystar.net
  19. So BSN are reporting that the KO Cup draw will be done this evening as both teams are still in it!!!!
  20. Piratecast Live with Christina Turnbull available to those who couldn't/didn't tune in last evening... Great interview! That hour felt like 10 mins!! Great in depth answers to questions like about all 4 back and why not all 4 back and riders jumping the start and if they penalise themselves should you let the race carry on or not. Worth watching whatever club you support imo. If anyone wants to watch it back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhSPQPJMk2Y
  21. Speedway Star carries scores, reports and news from all the European leagues/competitions every week - along with Grasstrack news. Incidentally, the Sun have a new(ish) weekly column on a Tues/Weds called 'The Inside Track' which covers all motor sports and has included a few bits and bobs about speedway (Dan Bewley; Woffy etc) The Star also have Peter Oakes as a regular contributor.
  22. If there is to be any future for competitive speedway in UK, it will be via a team structure and competition(s) imo.
