There was some determined (hard?) riding from a few riders last night, yet it was only Poole riders that hit the deck!! -

So let's reset after last night. Well done to a determined Oxford team who clearly weren't fazed by the track or the opposition on the night. There were some fast race times by both teams. Congrats to Killeen and Ben Cook, clearly the best 2 riders on show. My only criticism of captain Cook was him choosing the wrong gates in heat 1 (its an ongoing niggle of mine). Others have already stated the problem areas but those riders just need to get fitter and get going again as there aren't any options. Hopefully the result will give them the necessary 'kick up the posteriors'! Moving on........ -

A bit overcast in Poole today - as forecast- should make track prep a bit less pressured. -
....and Perry. I predict Vinnie will be back for the play offs!
-
....and in a larger pond than the Premiership!

Update on Vinnie: Nothing broken. Needs to rest with physio, so its a bit of a waiting game, likely to be out upto 4 weeks! ( but we know what speedway riders are like). -
Also all the youngsters and newcomers attending this season (I bring 4 newbies as well as my usual 5!) don't have a clue about 'top' riders, or who rode in the past or the difference between Prem and Champs! They simply want to shout and wave and get behind the guys in the red and blue helmet colours!!

Their race track is similar to the wide open spaces of Polish tracks!

If Premiership fixtures were on Wednesdays and 2025 were to be Poole's final season and Matt sold the chateau then it might be an option? But it won't. Imo the issues that Premiership teams are experiencing this season, with foreign riders not turning up or feigning injury despite riding abroad the day before a UK fixture will only get worse.

Indeed. -
Does this mean promoters know what the 2025 points limit is?

It hurts!! Unconfirmed reports suggest he might need an op. I've asked Dan but not replied as yet. -
Berwick v Workington CL 10/08/24 7-00pm
SteveLyric2 replied to Normski's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
When the original draft fixtures were circulated, clubs were informed that any rearrangements had to be scheduled before 31st August 2024. Clearly as the season has progressed and with the poor weather and forecasts, the 'cut-off' has been extended by a week. -
A good result for the Gladiators. Does that give them a chance of the play-offs?

Bearing in mind their location, I think the Berwick promotion should be applauded for getting all their home fixtures in within the 'end-of-August' deadline. I wish certain other clubs would take note. Its hardly their fault that the team has been blighted by serious rider injuries. -
No referee reviews at Glasgow then! (Sorry, couldn't resist!)
