  1. I doubt we'll ever see the day when there's an independent body. Those with their heads in the sand can't see what's happening, the smart ones will get out (if they can) and many of those in for the journey but looking after their own interests will fail. Speedway will then be a part-time/ametuer sport in the UK and there won't be a need for an independent body. Question: Could BSI run the sport on an independent basis - would they be any good?
  2. I think we share common ground. The squabbles between teams/promoters do little but damage the sport - I'm not sure if I'm blinkered in thinking that an Independent body to run the sport is the only way forward. You'd hope such a body would work for the overall benefit of the sport and bring consistency. There might be a few clubs fall by the wayside but not as many if things carry on as they are.
  3. Essaitch, probably something Swindon would like to gloss over! On a more serious note the winter squabbles and self interest are damaging the sport - the sooner we have an independent body to run speedway the better.
  4. Yet many are happy to lay the blame at the door of the Peterborough promotion! Patchett has been trying to pull as fast one and doesn't appear to have the cash to buy either Anderson or Batchelor.
  5. Patchett can't afford to buy him - that's why he's trying to get him on loan and throwing a hissy fit!
  6. Saw some great meetings at both Waterden Road and Plough Lane. Agree it isn't the size but down to the skill of the riders. Bluepanther should take a trip to Mildenhall a small track where there's always been plenty of entertainment.
  7. A point well made.I fear the point of no return has passed - speedway is in a tail spin. Self interest = Self Destruction!
  8. Hans Anderson & Troy Batchelor to join Belle Vue?
  9. Classic! There's also some old bangers out the back - Bajerski, Sullivan & Monberg
  10. If the sport is going to get out of trouble it needs rules that are easily understood and transparent - time for Speedway to be run by an independent body?
  11. Might not be a bad thing. Not sure there'd be a significant loss of sponsorship as those who put the money up often do so because they love the sport or want to support a local team.
  12. I'd like to see clubs reduce the size and cost of programs - I don't need a 32 page glossy staked full of adverts for 3 quid - whats more pens don't always like glossy pages! I want an official race card/program I can write on, no more than 8 pages and I'd like it for a quid! If the track has got a lot of advertising make it bigger but don't charge me!
  13. Unfortunately promoters seem to be both blind and deaf to the long term future of the sport. I wish they'd wake up!
  14. What a shambles! How much would Swindon have to pay to take Anderson and Batchelor on loan for a season?
  15. I thought Frost wanted an Independent body to run the sport - that wouldn't jeopardise the sport indeed it probably would put right the current wrongs including the Asset system. It is regrettable that we will have to stick with BSPA self interest, BSPA inconsistencies and a slow death.
  16. Bad feelings all round for sure! I wonder how much of it kicked off at the BSPA Conference when the 2 rider in the top 20 rule was put in place? Never mind Peterborough you only had 5 riders in the top 20 and it seems you were planning to use 3 of them in 2013. Did the BSPA pull a fast one? Was the decision in the best interests of the sport or one that suited those who who don't put their money where there mouth is?
