  1. Merge the EL and PL then charge £12 including 8 page race card/mini program on cheap paper. Need to give the promoters a chance of making some money! Track rental, medical cover, stewards take up a huge chunk of the admission money, will need to get rid of over paid Heat Leaders (perhaps a wage cap or income/wages cap could work) and reduce/stop flight re-imbursement. Do nothing and the sport bleeds to death!
  2. so true but not good for the sport in 10-20 years time - not enough youngsters watch the sport. Be interesting to know the average age of supporters, I think it might be close to 50!
  3. Spot on! I think it's fair to say what's left of the hardcore are too embarrassed to promote by word of mouth - no wonder Speedway is on it's knees!
  4. He knew who you meant, it shouldn't have been an issue for him ................. but
  5. Tonight's line up looks more like an old fashioned 2nd half!
  6. Indeed it would and that's why it'd need good independent governance. It would need to be by exception, with no fault attributed to the riders, evidence they have done everything possible to get to the track etc. An independent adjudicator would then decide.
  7. The answer is "Yes"! and it ins't solely about BV on Monday or simply calling off meetings it's about the structure and governance of Speedway!
  8. The simple answer is HONESTY! At another level it is a set of rules/regulations which are put in place, monitored and enforced by an Independent Body rather than a bunch of promoters with nothing but self interest at heart. If having an independent body means the weak fall by the wayside then so be it, at least the sport will prosper! How many promoters are interested in what the paying customers would prefer - you've only got to look at the decisions they make.
  9. So why wouldn't BV put out a CLEAR statement saying: it was a splash of water from a leaking pipe, we decided not to repair it and ultimately made the wrong decision? I guess that would be too simple, assuming it were true! As for the consequences (assuming BV have done wrong) most will damage the sport and/or the fans - the best result from this would be an Independent Body to run the sport! But a burst water pipe is!
  10. If it wasn't flooded at the time why would he take a photo of every part of the track?
  11. If all Speedway Promoters had the balls we would have had an independent body running the sport by now. As it is the sport is in terminal decline in the UK. p.s. don't you just love bitter and twisted fans!
  12. Swindon to win the League by 20 points but Poole or Kings Lynn to pip them in the Final!
  13. Classic! But be careful you'll upset the natives Of course he's having a laugh! Keep reeling them in 500cc
  14. Shame he didn't go further and criticize the promotions who fail to invest and 'steal' others assets.
  15. Without an independent body we'll be lucky to have "professional" speedway in 5 years time.
  16. Indeed it isn't, one of the components to make it fair would be a salary cap or minimum/maximum points payments.
  17. This should be a cracking meeting - it always surprised me the meeting wasn't covered by Sky as part of their GP package. It falls on the August Bank Holiday Weekend so it might be wise to book up hotel/B&B accommodation early to avoid disappointment. We've booked in with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution who have their Colllege in Poole. They have rooms available to the public with all profits going to the RNLI. THe accommodation is only a short walk from the track. Trip Advisor carries good reviews - worth a look.
  18. Awesome! Well done to all involved. I had a quick look at the history - was looking for mention/pictures of Barry Thomas. Barry taught me to ride a Speedway Bike at his Iwade Training School in the late 70's.
  19. Richard Lawson would be an excellent guest for KL or any other team at Peterborough. Should be an interesting encounter given your top fours experience of the EOS track.
  20. I would also imagine the Panthers didn't want the two rider in the top 20 restriction and would have opted for a strong top 3 this season. With Panthers having five in the top 20 is it any wonder the other promoters decided on this ruling? Perhaps the BSPA should have purchased the 3 riders Panthers could not use this season!
