  1. But surely Douglas would have been more effective at 3 and taking points off their heat leader rather than potentially taking points off Morris?
  2. It's an excellent post. I'm not sure the riders think it's a God-given right to be in 2 teams tho, more of a necessity to make it worthwhile nowadays. That said, I think wages are probably the easiest way to cut back on costs.
  3. Who would have been driving the 2nd ambulance then? Pretty sure he'd have been a paramedic and not the local binman surely?
  4. Ooooh should interest the Peterborough riders that...
  5. Not sure tbh. If that is the case then let's hope we get some positive news
  6. Which suggests his season hasn't been as disastrous as people make out really
  7. Strange because when I spoke to him he said that he'd be happy to stay in British speedway because its better paid than Denmark and Sweden. Only the top league in Poland is better and he's not at that level yet
  8. I think Riss is struggling with the new tyres like a lot of riders, tho some do seem to have found a way of making them work. Sometimes when riders are happy and performing and then get a change like that it really affects them
  9. Yes I know, just surprised to keep seeing him at Birmingham over recent weeks
  10. Ahhh OK, my mistake. Have seen both of them quite a lot at Birmingham lately. Thanks for straightening that out tho Trackerman!
  11. He's spent a lot of time at Birmingham recently for someone who has no interest in speedway....
  12. Personally I think the first thing speedway needs to address are user friendly bikes. Bikes that riders can control on less than perfect surfaces, tyres that work on a wet surface, once you get the confidence in the paying public that a meeting will run to the end they may start to come back. As it is, the first sign of drizzle and everyone wants to give up! Unless it was monsoon conditions, I don't recall the issues we have now back in the day, and that was before dirt deflectors. Once the fans start coming back, then you can think about being more professional. Clubs need to be sustainable from the off and I think that starts with riders wages and equipment costs. Get back to basics and then move forward.
  13. I think its to do with Eurosport wanting to plan ahead on where to send trucks with equipment although I'm not sure what difference a day would make tbh
  14. To be fair, I think he's been pretty good all year. Has done this most weeks at Birmingham
  15. This meeting could be tougher than we thought....
  16. I'm sure I read somewhere that the Commonwealth Games only runs for 11 days so if that's correct then hopefully there will be minimal disruption
  17. As the promotion are in charge of both Sheffield and Leicester, Howarth will be where they need him more surely..
  18. HGould is right, the new stadium management have made life really difficult, especially on race day. Usually petty things that have caused major headaches for the promotion. The issue with the track was well documented but the stadium management had a hand in that regarding when access was available, and with limited but loyal helpers were doing jobs that the stadium should have been doing just to get a meeting on. Its not making excuses but that was the reality and things changed every week for no good reason. I feel for the Masons and for their own sanity it's probably the correct decision for them.
  19. Most of the stills and slow mo's are out of focus. Unless it's my eyes...
  20. I've been to Peterborough a few times this year and it's been fantastic, tonight it seems like the track has been turned into another Kings Lynn. Shale over clay please!
  21. Not sure who we're on about not but I guess it was the Jack Thomas scenario where he had a few guest bookings last week but didn't ride for Birmingham on Friday. As Jack only has one club, yes he would have been physically tired because he's not used to riding every night but as far as I know, the reason he missed the Birmingham meeting was because he'd gained a neck injury (still suffering now) and blew an engine to bits. Jacks an honest lad and whilst admitting to be tired, it seems to have been taken out of context somewhat
  22. Tbf, you can't disagree with any of these points. I've always thought that the team should be around 51-53 points to accommodate the better riders but we more or less forced them elsewhere with the lower average year after year. Now riders have to have a few 'poor' meetings to keep themselves in with a chance of a job next season...
