Sheffield Vs Somerset 30th June Championship
Charlieboy replied to TigerAl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Can't see zaine been fit after that bad crash hopefully he's not out too long.Options are very limited for guests so looks like we will be weaker once again against Somerset. Can't remember last time we rode them with 7 fit riders.Full day for me too ,owls in the park then walk along for a cracking speedway meeting between 2 good sides. -
Sheffield club statement on website. Not intending to close which is good news?

Congratulation to Somerset on winning but glad our lads got 2 ND place after our inconsistent run of form this season.Hope that gives the lads confidence after the poor performance at Scunthorpe on Friday. -
Yes I appreciate population size and nearby towns etc but we've probably 8 times the unemployment too.My point was people have limited resources for leisure.A lot of people will follow a winning team no matter what sport it is,while some are just die hard fans of any one sport ,speedway fans for example. What effect has Scunthorpe United getting relegated had on support..? I bet the crowds were well down.Where as in Sheffield the 2 football teams have 50,000 plus fans between them for home games ,when the steelers are winning 7000-10000 fans etc.Not sure what the rugby ,netball ,basketball etc get but the more sports teams you have in one area people have more choice where to spend their money.Scunthorpe has a relegated football team and a speedway team with a good race track.I don't know how much rob Godfrey has promoted the speedway but if he had done as much as our promotors have he would surely have bigger crowds.I would guess that your biggest crowd is when we visit so if we close down then you lose your biggest crowd.Lets hope we don't close down so we can continue our on track rivalry.

People seem to forget that sheffield speedway have to compete with 2 major football teams,as well as the ice hockey ,rugby, basketball, netball ,concerts at the arena and numerous other activities in Sheffield.Families only have a certain amount of money for leisure.Scunthorpe ,Kings lynn and Poole for example should attract better support in their areas as they have less competition for people's cash.Plus the main fact is speedway is dying on its backside. The gap in fixtures doesn't help.If the fixtures were home and away twice with more regular meetings people would keep in the habit but like I've said in Sheffield there is plenty more to do.I think if the sport is still running in 5 years I will be surprised .

Scunthorpe Vs Sheffield 21st June Championship
Charlieboy replied to TigerAl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well that was a pasting.josh auty was excellent entertainment. His races with howarth were quality.Zaines crash was a bad one, lifting coming off bend 4 and trying to get off the bike but unable too before smashing into the fence.Hope his injuries aren't going to be too bad and he's back soon.Nicol deserved more than 5 points for his efforts.Josh McDonald was impressive and deserved his good win .Howarths bike looked tired, drew looks way down on power and confidence ,King won a couple and Proctor looks a shadow of the rider he was.Quite a few races won from the gate.Deserved win for Scunthorpe.Dont know where we go from here, track up for sale and poor performances. Will we be bothering to make any changes or let the season fizzle out ???? -
Scunthorpe Vs Sheffield 21st June Championship
Charlieboy replied to TigerAl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Hoping we can put in a decent performance tomorrow and come away with at least a point.Could be our last ever meeting at Scunthorpe if we don't get a new owner so it would be nice to get a win.Hope Ty can score a lot more than he has tonight for Kings Lynn.We need everybody to be firing at the same time for a change so the result depends on how many tigers turn up. -
Not totally surprised with the decision as rumours started before the season started.I will be dissapointed if we do close down but I can't see anybody been interested in buying a speedway club in this current climate unless somebody buys it to run elite league on a Thursday especially with the new facilities been ready for next season. Thanks to the Bates family we have had continual speedway for last 6 years and won some trophies. They have worked very hard and deserved more support but as with most clubs crowds are down.Speedway in general is dying thanks mainly to promotors running it for their own needs and I think if it survives another 5 years it will be remarkable.Good luck to the promotion with the sale but I won't be holding my breath for someone to come in.

Sheffield Vs Leicester 9/6/19 Championship
Charlieboy replied to TigerAl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
There were several races with passing from memory .only Drew from the sheffield team didn't pass anybody I recall.Heat 13 was a decent race too.Howarth getting passed Nicholls and then Nicholls repassed him and team riding to hold him off.It wasn't a classic meeting but entertaining with several passes. -

Very entertaining meeting against a good Leicester side.Ryan Douglas was top drawer for Leicester but all the sheffield lads chipped in for a change.Good home debut from Josh McDonald a return to form for Ty and a top performance from Danny.Heat 14 was a cracker ,after 2 laps I feared the worse but Zaine got passed mountain then Broc rode a stormer to get the vital 3rd place.Heat 15 Danny did his job AGAIN and we won.Well done to all the riders for making it a good meeting. The track was better today so well done track staff . -

Hoping for a win but not going to be easy against a very strong Leicester .We still waiting for all 7 to click on the same day and we can't afford any passengers. We need to be on it from heat 1 and hopefully Josh has better luck on his home debut than he did at Brummies. He was looking good coming from last to first down the back straight before been dumped in the fence and getting his bike wrecked. -

Zaine was a bit untidy coming over the start finish line but from our view on first bend had got it under control before shanes clipped him. After the race shanes stopped at the pit gate and walked towards Zaine shook his hand as an apology,so I think shanes obviously clipped him,not intentionally though !, -

Well done to the brummies ,very entertaining meeting and kept interesting throughout with the close scores.Morris was excellent after his early bad crash and Paco won more races last night than he did in several meetings for us.Cracking opening ride from King then as I saw it Stoneman T boned Josh.Stoneman went into the bend to fast and tight from where we were stood.Id like to see a video tho to confirm that.Heat 3 Morris locked up and was hit by shanes. Looked worse than it actually was.Heat 6 Zaine defending his position and shanes knocked him off should have been excluded.Proctor was excluded for a lot less contact a couple of weeks ago.Comical heat 9 when captain Howarth doesn't appear within the 2 minutes then comes out with no gloves ?? Gifting 5-1 to Brummies.Heat 11 I think Drew gave up his position to Paco a bit easy ,he needs to get a bit tougher.Expected a bit more after his great heat 8 win.Heat 12 good gate from Brummies with proctor chasing hard on the outside but getting nowhere near.Heat 13 similar Tigers gate and Brummies can't get near.heat 14 same. Then last heat decider was always going to be about who makes the gate. Was hoping our lads would do it but the brilliant Morris was not going to be denied.Stand out riders for us wereDanny and Broc and it might have been better if josh had won heat 2 when coming from the back and getting a confidence boosting debut win but as usual in a rerun the rider who was at the back pops out and wins rerun. Can see Brummies getting stronger at home until Paco moves into top 5 then they might struggle. As for us ,it's going to be a short season again.Disappointing as the side has got potential . -

It's about time the sheffield team clicked into gear.It would be nice if all 7 put a shift in at the same time. Not confident we will but will be going there to support the team in hope we can get a win. -
Very rarely I go on other sites but I wouldn't point out spelling mistakes because frankly I can't be bothered.I read loads of threads but don't post an opinion on them all.People who post on forums are usually concerned supporters about there club, people in the know or just general dicks who know nothing and spout bile. The reply to my general question falls into the last category in my opinion.
-
Thank you for the civilised answer that's all I needed to know .Broc is now in the team andJosh at reserve.Hope I've spelt civilised right or the spell check Bobby will be correcting me again.
-
Thanks for pointing that out.One spelling mistake in 585 posts ? Must try harder obviously if we have got an English teacher checking for spelling mistakes.Looks like some people need to get a life.Obviously not much else to do in Scunthorpe when they have to come on a Sheffield thread.
-
Thought it was quite straight forward question to ask as with speedway there are that many sub section rules open to mis interpretation.I only wanted to know if josh would be at reserve or in the main body of the team for tomorrow.Oh well as they say you can't educate pork !!!
-
Thank you. What don't you understand about the post ? We started the season with Broc and Zaine on 4 point assessed averages.Josh comes in tomorrow on assessed 4 point average. The question I asked was are Broc and Zaine still on their assessed average. .Have they got to race 4 home and 4 away in the league or is it a mixture of shield, cup and league meetings ? Some teams manipulate the rules on riders averages .I mentioned Rob Godfrey because he's the chief at the b.s.p.a. Hope you now understand my English

How fit is Howarth has he done some practice ? He came back too early last time Hop he’s fully fit and josh settles in straight away -
Does josh start at reserve tomorrow ? We now have 3 riders on 4 point assessed averages.Have Broc and Zaine rode enough meetings for a proper average. It used to be 4 home 4 away is that still the case or does it depend on which club you are ? Or Rob godfreys discresion ?
-
Does josh come in on a 4 point average

Sheffield v Scunny 02/06/19
Charlieboy replied to Cue Ball's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think drew needs to be a bit more aggressive.A few times this season he has gone into the first bend with a rider at the side of him and he's shut off giving away his position. He's no doubt got talent but at the same age Robert lambert wouldn't have done that.. Hopefully it will come sooner rather than later and he will kick on.
