Good point tonight against a very good wolves team that won at Ipswich recently. Going to be tight for that 4 th place lay off spot
-
You forget mr Bates is on the committee along with mr Godfrey who were part of the rising star idea. The new speedway rule is isolation for 100 days not 10. That should give us time to make team changes using old averages to suit as Ipswich did with cookie. Watch this space. No doubt Anders will be getting another call soon.
-
Bates out with covid so Tom Brennan steps in. Hope to see the tigers gain a point tonight with ex Wolves rider Kyle Howarth back at his old track. We need everyone to play their part with no passengers in our team for this to happen though
-
Straight swap for Bates !! I think we should be in for him next season if Swindon don’t open
-
I’d be up for him signing but not sure bout the fee. We could throw Bates in to the deal
-
It’s British speedway so it’s possible
-
Not really. I saw a very entertaining meeting which we won with some very good racing especially from one of your riders who made the difference to us winning and moving above your team in the league. Happy days. Nice to see some British potential at last. I can actually see us using Anders again to be honest and will be most welcome. The only WHOOSH was as he passed Brennan on the line which actually was the difference between us drawing and winning
-
Not a case of fingers in ears or attending meetings mate. Get real speedway is on the decline because all the promoters are in it for themselves. The 70s and 80s are not coming back it is what it is. Look at the stadiums look at the age of the people attending the sport is on its arse and will get no better. Open your eyes to the results Ipswich lost 3 at home thats 9 points your not getting. Anders Rowe helped us get 3 points last night and your blaming the poor lad for Ipswich not making the play offs ??? Look at the world it’s riddled with covid and your worried about a guest reserve. Jesus get real !!!!!!!!!
-
Yes it was a very good entertaining meeting but it makes me laugh when people who didn’t attend try to make out we won because we used their rider ? Guests are the norm and every team is affected by it
-
Yes I understand your point but it depends how good your number one is. I would hate to cover jack holders rides with a below par bachelor etc where as crump is more on a par with other Ipswich riders. As I’ve said previously we have lost meetings when having guests ( Sedgeman) springs to mind when he couldn’t be arsed and we have won meetings also with guests but I bet we’ve had more bad than good guests in my lifetime. I think we have more guests now than I can remember from the 60s and 70s
-
Definitely but its been happening for years not just recently that’s why it’s in a state
-
RR is ok unless you get another injury on the night then uour down to 5. We had it at Glasgow a few years back and won surprisingly but it’s far from ideal. No body runs a number 8 now so it puts more pressure on the other riders and machines. We’re stuck with guests I think for the foreseeable. Last night was a very good meeting and people who didn’t go are commenting on it just to have a snipe. Speedway is speedway and if you don’t agree with the rules and it upsets you that much people don’t have to go. I am just glad to be watching speedway this year after the 18 months we’ve just had but some people just like to bitch for the sake of it. The Bates and Peter Mole have done a cracking job since taking over and if it wasn’t for them I think we would be another track short.
-
Can’t believe all the sniping from the bed wetters on here about guests. It’s an evil necessity for the sport as every true speedway fan knows. Every club has benefited with a horses for corses policy from it in the past. James Greaves always threw a sicky when he was supposed to be riding at sheffield and his team always scored double figures from the guests. We can’t afford to have squads so what other way is there ? At the beginning of the season the rising star list came out. I don’t think Bates should be on it and didn’t want him but he was and we selected him. In the 4 star group were Bacon Bickley Brennan Greaves Mountain Rowe Shanes Ipswich decided to go with Kemp as the rising star and Rowe at reserve. Last night we selected a 4 star rider from the list. Personally I think each team should pick 2 rising stars at 6and 7. Peterborough have a massive advantage at reserve and look well set up. As for Rowe costing Ipswich a place in the top 4 while riding for us when there’s half the season to go ???? So Ipswich have lost 3 at home so that’s 9 points dropped but it’s Rowes fault for guesting for us and earning himself a few quid. Hope you enjoy booing the lad next home game. Good young British prospect who I wouldn’t mind riding for us.

Good close meeting. Some good racing 2 nd half of meeting especially Kyle howarth and Anders Rowe twice. Great to see Rowe and Brennan having a great tussle. We need to replace Sedgeman and Wright sooner rather than later. Bachelor 2 good rides 2 poor efforts Holder top class Ellis good meeting Belle vue deserved their point for their efforts. Thank you to Anders Rowe excellent effort from a guest. Your welcome anytime
-
I remember some very good meetings at Hyde rd with close racing and close score lines and I think it could be close tomorrow. A big improvement is required from the other night or we will get hammered. One or two of our riders need to take a look in the mirror and decide if they want to be here because the effort at Peterborough was way short of what we need to get in the play offs. Only Bachelor is not getting regular racing so there’s no excuse for time on the bike and with Bates owning Leicester there no excuse for not getting extra practice I appreciate it’s not the same as racing but at least it’s bike time. Hopefully a big improvement from the tigers and a win

Cat Fight. P'boro v Sheffield 28 June
Charlieboy replied to Col's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well that was a big disappointment. Lacklustre from 2 ex panthers. Sedgeman riding round middle of track as tho he’d never seen the place. Batchelor poor heat 1 then howarth stopped him 2 nd time out not a number ones performance. James wright struggling. Team changes needed if we want to win anything. Bates although not rode tonight is a liability. Hopefully new averages out after Thursday and changes to follow -
Pizza Hut is now Dunkin Doughnuts. Restaurant food is good and a decent view. Could be a close meeting we need all our 7 to turn up. Hopefully Batch can improve on last weeks score

Sheffield v Ipswich 24/6/2021
Charlieboy replied to Baldyman's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Glad Jack Holder turned up and produced the goods. Don’t know what happened to Batch he looked hot in heat one then looked like he was on a lawn mower rest of the night. Sedgeman started well and dropped off while Adam started slow and improved Kyle and James backed up well but Kyle bickley was never going to get amongst the points in this company. Ipswich well deserved a point -
Could have but they didn’t and would Nicol have beaten Nichols we either support the young riders or scrap the policy we’re using simple
-
We’re not pushing Bates we are stuck with him. I didn’t agree that he should be in the rising star category. Should be 21 and under only for me
-
So he expected Flint to beat Nichols ? We are either pushing the rising star are it’s just a convenience??
-
Rising star just lost out heat 14. Palin replaced by oostergaard Peterborough 14 points up match won so why replace a rising star with a Dane ? Only in British speedway

Wolves v Sheffield 7th June 2021
Charlieboy replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Wolves look a very strong outfit with several riders capable of increasing their starting average and worthy winners tonight. Without Howarth we were basically a 3 man team. We’ve got a very long tail and can’t see us winning the league with the current 7. Bates looks far from comfortable on the bike Wright is off the pace and Sedgeman is inconsistent. Changes are needed but who could we bring in? Mountain would have been a better pick than Bates I think but we’ve missed out on him. It’s not easy with limited availability of riders. -
Sheffield v Wolves 3rd June 21

Right decision by the ref Douglas was out of shape so Holder had to lay it down. Douglas nearly had him off down the back straight on previous lap. Decent opening meeting. Glad to see Bachelor back on song Holder was brilliant Ellis looks a very good signing. Howarth Sedgeman and Wright chipped in with good points but a bit concerned about Bates. He doesn’t look comfortable on the bike and seems to be struggling at the moment. I expect Monday to be different and Wolves to take the points. Very impressed with Becker he looks a good prospect. Nice to get our first win Well done to all the lads -

Could be a close meeting tonight that could go either way. Hope we’ve got a 7 man team and we definitely can’t carry any passengers. Wolves have a few that can ride well at sheffield. Masters Douglas and Schlein can get amongst the points Morris is decent and with Broc at reserve who knows. If we’ve got to carry our number one again it might be a bit too much for our lads
