How long was left on the clock when Douglas stalled and had to go away from the tapes to restart his bike ? -
Sheffield vs Ipswich 13th May
Charlieboy replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well done Ipswich best team on the night. Sheffield have too many passengers. You can’t fault Kyle for effort but it’s points that win meetings. I think the trouble is he’s captain and got his testimonial coming up and the management have been very loyal to him. Big decisions ahead if we have any intention of retaining the league title. It’s definitely not happening with the current 1-7. -
Don’t think there are enough free dates to have replays as the season generally gets squashed into the final says of October as it is so what about 3 super heats using 6 out of the 7 riders ?
-
Borefest for most of the meeting. Only came alive after Pickos superb team ride to block mountain and allow Holder to up on the line for a point. Dont think the track was prepared for passing. Probably due to the stock cars last week. Gate 3 is a total graveyard If your not a GP rider then your basically going to run a last. I think Belle Vue rode better as a team and were unlucky on the night but that’s speedway. When you need your top boys to come good they did their job.

Sheffield v Oxford 02/05/24
Charlieboy replied to 4thbender's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Good performance from the Tigers against a very solid Oxford side who will definitely be in the playoffs at the end of the season. Brilliant performance from Cookie and good to see he’s conquering his demons. Another entertaining meeting at owlerton especially when Josh Pickering was on track. That lad is worth the admission money alone. Looking forward to the meeting with the Aces next week -

Solid team performance tonight from all 7 Sheffield riders. Good to see Dan amongst the points. That should give him some confidence. -
Meeting cancelled due to stadium availability

Quite happy that these 2 lads are at reserve. I hope Gilkes comes back fully fit and was impressed with Edwards in the meetings he did for us. With the team average been increased would it not be an ideal time for all teams to have 2 up and coming reserves ? More races against each other plus racing against higher average riders too. Just a thought.
-
Looks a decent 1-5 on paper but we’ve got nothing to compare it to until others name their teams Think we might struggle at reserve but time will tell.
-
I’d be happy with that. Those 2 lads have made good progress since they came here and barring serious injury I think they will be top riders
-
Personally I’d like us to be able to fit one of the Cook brothers in instead of Kyle. He’s been a loyal servant to Sheffield but I think we need to freshen it up if we want to have a chance of winning the league again. Can’t see Kyle upping his average any more.

Big loss for Sheffield. Heard he wasn’t coming back a few weeks ago but was hoping the info was incorrect. Been brilliant for us home and away. Thanks for the entertainment Tobi

Ipswich v Sheffield play off final 1st leg
Charlieboy replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Allowing Lambert to ride is how you interpret the wording of the rule as with many rules. I don’t understand why they couldn’t just add lamberts rides last year to his then average so he’d have an updated average this year. Why are play offs not added to the riders current average. I think all official matches should count. League /Cup/play offs. The changes we made had to be made because it’s a numbers game. We couldn’t just change one rider In my opinion I would have kept Kerr as he’s a better performer at Ipswich and Wolves. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter what anybody thinks on here because we can’t change anything. -

Jack wasn’t fit enough to come back In because of his injury. He wouldn’t have been able to ride in all our meetings. He was only just able to manage his GP last 2 rounds with long gaps in between. The GP tracks are easier to get round than Wolves and Ipswich with their tight bends. End of the day guests are used by every team and you are always going to try and use horses for corses whichever team you are. I don’t like them but it’s the nature of the beast Sometimes they pay off sometimes they don’t. I don’t think Harris and Lambert scored more than Jack and Tobi /Wuffy would have done so we didn’t benefit from that. Ellis could have had one of his better nights and scored what Noddy did so Jye was probably the difference replacing Vissing who still hasn’t returned from injury. -

So keep an injured rider and use guests as he was injured at the time the transfer window shut ? Use guests to cover. That would go down well on this forum with all the abuse sheffield have had in the play offs with using guests -
You can’t beat been there with live sport when those 2 play off comebacks were achieved. Absolutely remarkable nights of entertainment. I always felt Wednesday had a chance against Peterborough but wasn’t confident last night especially with Emil and Doyley and I expected king and Rew to see them over the line. The track held up well despite the rain and none of the riders complained. Great attitude from both sets of riders to crack on and get to the end. If a result had been called after 10 heats we’d won anyway and we would have been robbed of some really good racing in the latter heats.
-
Brilliant performance from our all star Tigers. Well deserved tonight coming from 18 points down. Track held up well after all the rain we’ve had and an exciting meeting. Lambert and Bomber didn’t score more than the lads they replaced would have done. Last heat decider good for tv. Rather have won it with the original 7 but can’t help injuries and over the season everyone uses guests and benefits. Well done to all the riders for giving their all. Hopefully next season we don’t get all the injuries and we can defend our title with the original 7.
-
Looks like there’s going to be a lot of supporters /fans / keyboard warriors who never go having some sleepless nights this weekend. Stop taking the sport so seriously. Guest riders have been in use for donkeys years and the sport can’t survive without them. FACT. We can’t run squads. Not enough riders and too expensive. Are Sheffield expected to use 2 juniors to make up the team ? That will definitely help Wolves get a healthy crowd. Not. Just accept what we’re been fed. Pay to watch or don’t go. Simple. Enjoy your weekend everyone

KO cup final dates Witches v Tigers 2023

It won’t be a tie. Ipswich did a job on Sheffield and I expect them to win quite easily. The 6 points will probably be wiped out early. -

Ipswich top 2 had an off night by their standards but other lads stepped up to cover and kept their team in it all the way through. Fricke had a big off night. 6 points nowhere near enough to defend and will probably be wiped out in first few heats. Expect Ipswich to win by around 14 points. Sheffield need to concentrate on the Wolves meeting and hopefully pick the right guests. -

Nobody mentioned dropping riders. The original post mentioned Kyle Howarth being injured and I replied to that stating all the original sheffield riders had been injured. That is fact. If Ipswich have been fortunate enough not to have the amount of injuries we have then they have been lucky. If you’re not happy that Ipswich have not replaced out of form riders then take that up with your club instead of sniping at other clubs when team changes are been made. Too many people on here are obsessed with other clubs changes. Anyway I will be there tonight supporting the 1-7 that we put out on track. I take it you will be following you your team on the speedway updates -

Don’t know not sure but they don’t ride for us now. But they have all been injured while riding for sheffield like I said.
