Are those scores taken from programme fixture/results lists or from the actual racecards themselves? A league table up to and including 11th September 1997 carries what appears to be the correct points totals for Belle Vue, Buxton and St. Austell. However by 2nd October the points totals have been amended, and the differences are carried through to the final league table. However the three sides had already met, so I'm left with the notion that results have been amended after the event. For the record the differences are (my totals v official totals): Belle Vue - For 792 v 798 & Against 972 v 967 Buxton - For 960 v 948 & Against 890 v 901 St. Austell - For 957 v 963 & Against 877 v 871

The match finished 52-44 but it appears that some kind of alteration was made to the result after the event. I'm expecting the score to have been adjusted to 42-44 but would like someone to confirm this and provide the reason for the adjustment if possible. Thanks.

There were junior matches staged on 26/04, 17/05, 14/06, 05/07 (full scale), 26/07, 09/08, 16/08, 30/08, 20/09 and 04/10 (full scale).

Thanks. I'm not so sure of the second set of results though. By all accounts Belle Vue won 10-07 and Butt was unbeaten on 6, Collier on 3 and Heyes 1. Strangely though the Teesside scorers appear correct. Any ideas?

I've been researching the Scottish Junior League for longer than I care to remember. The main goal was to gather the heat details for every match, meaning access to marked programmes was paramount. Consolidating the averages was the second stage of the operation. With press coverage going from the sublime to the ridiculous, some seasons (and tracks) have proved harder to nail down than others. I have a completed programme from the Glasgow match. Heat 9, Mauger replaced Broadbelt, broke the tapes, and Broadbelt came back in.

I've actually got a second scan of the programme and what is written in could pass for Stansfield. Unfortunately the writing is so bad I can't be 100%. As you say Alan Stansfield was definitely around so there is a good chance it was him. Just need this D. Appleton now.
