Ipswich v Sheffield play off final 1st leg
Roger Jacobs replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It still irks me that people say Lambert was “only signed for the play-offs”. BV used Lambert because Fricke was injured, no other reason. -
Ipswich v Sheffield play off final 1st leg

Here's the reply I received from the BSPA Office: "You have quoted the rule yourself and it does not mention 'assessed', it says 'have an established MA' and Robert Lambert DOES have an established average, from 2019, he just hasn't done enough meetings to update that for this season. Without appearing to be too long winded, that rule is with regards riders who have never had an established MA, hence it does not mention 'assessed'. I believe other riders in a similar position have guested this season, but nobody has queried that? I don't want to drone on but what if a rider is riding on his converted CL MA and has that * by his name, have they ever not been able to guest? Next season that box will be changed as it is obviously misleading when it suits!" Reading that last sentence, I wasn't sure wether to laugh or have a fit of hysterics -

Has anyone with a * next to their name had a guest booking? I haven't checked. As mentioned, I was informed by the BSPL Office that Lambert can ride because his 2019 average is considered to be an Established MA. -
Apologies if you are self-righteously offended. I can't see the point of putting "I think it's x or y" when there are anoraks (who have bookmarks or saved copies of documents) who will confirm if you actually ask a question. In an age where some people believe whatever's posted without bothering to seek verification, it's better to ask than just waffle. The problem we do have, of course, if that even though there are Regulations, the BSPL has twice in the last couple of weeks decided to interpret the wording in a specific way, and also use an average that's not in the Green Sheets.

"b) a rider may ride as a guest (in an official meeting) at a track only once in an 8day period (within that league) unless he is replacing the home teams #1 or is an NDL rider guesting for the home team" Although the BSPL has decided that "NDL rider" means NDL only (that's why Joe Thompson was prevented from riding two weeks in a row at Foxhall). This rule is close to becoming obsolete - these days, very few teams ride home matches consistently every week.

Belle Vue vs Ipswich play off semi 1st leg
Roger Jacobs replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
From Sportowefakty: 18:43 17 . Run interrupted. The fall of Bloedorn. An ambulance appeared on the track. The German got up on his own. Heat 17 was the Final - it was "Rerun All 6" and Blödorn took part. -
They're not trying to be too smart for their own good - they're not trying at all. They write Regs without any thought, and without any testing/wargaming. PS: "Proven long term injury" isn't simple or clear. If they were to have such a Regulation again, it should state a minimum time. To paraphrase the well known quote: A week is a long time in British speedway.

There's no complaints about guests per se, it's just the promise of transparency is so often ignored. Read the Regs and then explain why Lambert can guest ... the BSPL has decided what the Regs don't say, and what the Green Sheets don't say, allows Lambert to guest. How many professional sports do that? Where's the transparency, let alone the scrutiny? Accepting what we're being fed is not the answer, that's why so many people have walked away from the sport over the years, while the Happy Clappers are taken for cash cow mugs.

For what it's worth, I can't see anything in the Green Sheets that says his previous MA is not applicable? Even so, it does say his average is assessed. However, as I stated earlier, the BSPL has decided that Lambert does have an Established MA - the one he achieved in 2019. Anyway, the BSPA argument is that although 012.4.2 Guest Rider says "c) the guest must be in a current team declaration and have an established MA” it does not say he can't have an assessed average. Again, as I stated earlier, I haven't checked if anyone else with a * next to their name has been used as a guest.
