  1. The delay is because of the need to declare teams for upcoming matches. Teams *could* be riding in the immediate days after the new average is achieved, which could then affect the declared line-up(s) and the printed programmes.
  2. And that new Basso average has reduced any replacement options by 0.85.
  3. No, I haven't seen that option. Probs worth contacting BSN to check - they're normally very quick with replies.
  4. I check here: https://britishspeedway.co.uk/2022-premiership-declarations/ They messed-up the Ipswich averages in Issue 7, and had to issue an amendment!
  5. Indeed, Basso's new average, which keeps him at reserve anyway, will come into effect 7 days after completing 3 home, 3 away (it was 4 & 4, but has been changed this season, along with the decreasing number of matches for the monthly Green Sheets).
  6. Ipswich and King's Lynn also met multiple times in various competitions. People have very selective memories, because in general the sport was in a healthy state, and there wasn't so much competition from TV, the internet and ever rising costs.
  7. In cricket they have a super over to decide the outcome of a knock-out competition.. In the NBA they have 5 mins of overtime, and repeat the 5 minute periods until a team has more points (they don't introduce a different scoring system). As with many BSPA/L decisions, it's poorly thought out, and cheap. If British Speedway wants to modernise, it needs to do a darn sight more than tinker with the regulations ...
  8. I suppose the best thing about this new regulation is that it'll be all over the national news, and for the next Premiership matches there'll be 10,000 in attendance, hoping for a draw
  9. Individual meetings have to produce a winner, that's why they have run-offs or finals. If a draw in a league match isn't tense or exciting, then we might as well not bother.
  10. But the draw was drama and excitement. Why should either team get another chance? A draw is a result.
  11. You can't read too much into the Green Sheets. The starting set were based on last 20 matches (or minimum 4 home, 4 away). For June, they are based on the last 18 matches (or minimum requirement). As an extreme, two very good or bad scores could have been dropped from the overall figures - and BSPA confirmed it's last 18 matches, i.e. not necessarily 9 home and 9 away. For July it's down to 16, August 14, September 12, and the Final averages will be based on the last 10 matches. Some figures could well change dramatically over the next 3-4months.
  12. There was quite a rivalry between the Witches and the Pirates back in 89-90 in the National League. They were the days of the one-lane-motorway that was the big track at Wimborne Road. I recall seeing the Witches get absolutely thrashed there one Wednesday night, and the Pirates fans just loved it - despite it being a tediously boring gate-fest. We ended up nicknaming them the Poole SASCC ... which stood for either: "Speedway And Side Car Club" ... or: "Smug Arrogant South Coast Consultants" Definitely never any hate - that's an awful word, which is misused far too often, entirely out of context.
  13. KL by 10, maybe 14. Nothing below Doyle (possibly Riss) to trouble the Stars, who are much more solid.
  14. There's always a lack of support on the terraces at Ipswich, unless there's a very big attendance. The vast majority of fans stand around the top of the terraces on the first & second bends, and on the seating high above the back straight. Viewing is poorer lower down because of the stock car catch-fencing.
  15. They have 10 league fixtures to schedule between early May and end of August ...
  16. Acceptance of mediocrity only encourages the BSPA to think even less about the paying customers who keep their businesses afloat.
  17. Aces using R/R for Fricke, and Zach Cook as the guest for Blödorn. Etheridge is planning to return from his collarbone injury. Witches using R/R for Starke and Sedgmen as the guest for Riss. https://ipswichwitches.co/raceday-preview-belle-vue-premiership-a/
  18. Riss is not in the starting list ... Fricke and Blödorn are ... https://www.fim-moto.com/fr/documents/detail/starting-list-fim-speedway-grand-prix-world-championship-qualifying-round-abensberg-ger-06062022 Congreve gets a place! Edit: After being reprimanded most severely by Racers & Royals, I now realise there's also a GP Qualifier at Debrecen, at which the aforementioned Herr Riss does indeed have a place.
  19. Totally different track (to anywhere!), probably different engines.
  20. The new Green Sheets should now be based on the last 18 matches, so a few more older scores will have dropped of the calculations. I don't follow them closely enough to know the impact. Next month it will be down to 16. As mentioned previously, it's the last X matches, irrespective of home or away, i.e. not half of each. By October, it will be the last 10 matches - at some point I'll work out the likely number of home/away for each team.
  21. For some reason, Iversen got a new average on 26th May. Lawson will be #1 as of 1st June.
  22. Big Cat Diary is the authority, but has gone AWOL after tonight
  23. Yes, cheers - I looked again and found the solution (and edited my post). Also, see my reply to Daniel Smith
