  1. Do you like losing at home or away for that matter? No over the years I've seen Sheffield lose quite a few meetings at Owlerton, but the difference is how a team can suddenly become so poor. Also I've missed several meetings through illness and holidays so I've had no benefit from a season ticket this year!
  2. Looking at how busy the car park was last night it should've been a real good crowd. However when leaving, again it could be seen that a local car dealership had quite a few vehicles sitting in the car park! Did seem to be a few Scunny fans on the home straight from the cheers for the victorious Scorps, but what has happened to Sheffield? Are the heat leaders trying to get their averages down so they can get a team place next year?Be interesting to see how they fair against the Bears next week, should be a close contest as they've been poor all season! As you can tell I'm not impressed with the recent form of the Tigers and WILL NOT be re-newing my season ticket next year what ever the team is. Anyone else notice how this form is mirroring the promotions team in the Premier League? Whats happening? Rumours are already circulating about the Lions will it be Sheffield next?
  3. Would he be a rider that was recently sacked by Leicester (under the same promotion)? After heat six none of the Sheffield riders seemed to get a decent gate and when they did get away level with the Lakeside boys they just seemed to get blown away in the first/second bends. As has already been stated, the Hammers riders wanted it and adapted to the conditions whereas the majority of the Tigers just weren't up for it at all. So much for 'Onwards and Upwards' how disappointing. So much for the new pairs Champions, the Lakeside pair did them 2 - 0 last night on their own shale!
  4. Bjerre wasn't in the reckoning for the original team pre-season until the rider that was approached (believed to be Lawson) signed else where, so could well be him. Does Broc Nicol qualify for a visa? Don't know much about him other than the article in S S last year, or was it earlier this year? Heard that Georgie Wood was seen at Owlerton a couple of weeks back at the last home meeting against Redcar, that's a long way to travel to watch a meeting! But I thought I heard Eastbourne didn't want their riders riding in the Championship this year. Might be something on the website or in S S this Thursday, seems most Sheffield news is released on Thursdays!
  5. Think it would be something like 3.23, seen he's been riding in Poland, exiting rider, but he'd need some decent machinery under him.
  6. So it is! It's a mistake on their web site, should've trusted my own eyes! Well I can wait for the HD channel
  7. It states on the Freesports that site that it's on Sky Channel 424, we've got the full package on Sky (including BT Sports) and channel 424 is an unavailable channel. (It doesn't exist!) Is it going to 'go live' on this channel next month?
  8. Vest on! If I'd known it was going to be arctic up there I'd have put 2 pair of socks on, me thermals, a jumper, a woolley hat and me tweed overcoat. Still think I'd have been cold! Perhaps that was part of Lasses problems yesterday, couldn't get his engines warmed up!
  9. Morris was a cut above the rest tonight, he certainly knows the fastest way around your track and must have decent machinery under him. Bjerre was an embarrassment tonight and as you correctly pointed out didn't complete a lap never mind a race! Don't know what was going on with him this evening, but he needs to get his gear sorted out and quickly. Garrity did a good job for Sheffield tonight apart from heat one where we set off on a 5 - 1 and ended up with a 2 - 4! I think Wright was having a go at him for (a) not letting him through to have a crack at Morris, although Jason was infront of him from the gate, and (b) Jason went out of shape on bends 3/4 of lap 3 and nearly had them both off! Pity that it's still winter up there in Newcastle, my feet were like two blocks of ice, and having a delay for the sun going down (in riders eyes) well that was a slap in the face!
  10. Personally prefer Howarth to Garrity, you know what you're going to get from Kyle, 100% effort no matter what his scores! However Jason is still sponsored by Sheffield Window Centre, so I suppose he owes them a good performance.
  11. Not like Shaun Leigh at all. What I'm alluding to is 1. After a minutes silence to pay respect to Ivan Mauger, one of, if not the greatest speedway rider of all time, Godfrey gives an anecdote about a time he made Ivan pay £300 to use the training track, a totally inappropriate story when paying homage to a legend. 2. When interviewing Damien Bates on the centre green he tried to belittle him and failed miserably. 3. Again towards the end of the meeting he spoke with the guy who sells the raffle tickets and there was reference made regarding 'organ grinder and monkey', when Godfrey declared himself the organ grinder. It was part of a question as to why the raffle wasn't conducted during the previous meeting and the explanation was that this guys mother was ill. Godfrey then asked how she was and was told, she's feeling better but was still in hospital. Godfrey then said "I don't care anyway!" from those that were listening to this in my vicinity there were gasps and looks of shock. If that's his sense of humour then he needs to get another, because he's just not funny, embarrassing but not funny!
  12. Some fantastic racing last night resulting in a deserved win for the home side in the end although they were challenged all the way through. Just a pity about the clown on the mic, he needs to get his hand in his pocket and get a proper presenter!
  13. This could be one of those seasons where the unexpected can and will happen from time to time, with there being so many decent teams in this league this year. I thought the Ipswich team was one of the best this year and was surprised at the result against Peterborough (as no doubt were most, if not all, Witches fans) so I'm readying myself for a few more shocks in the coming months, when the weather gets a lot better! As for tomorrow, the forecast is for rain up to 11am, but it's going to remain overcast for the rest of the day, so it depends how wet it is already. The track staff at Owlerton are brilliant though so there's a good possibility that the meeting will take place.
  14. Think you're spot on with that, saw a Development League meeting there two or three years ago where the rider went into the air bag more or less in the same place on the track, although in that instance the bike went in first and the air bag went straight up and away, the rider followed and hit the solid wall, sustaining injuries as a result. There's just no give behind the air bags, not ideal, but that's the design of the track!
  15. So what was his 'problem/issue' when he walked out on Sheffield last year, as I understand he'd had quite a bit of sponsorship and a decent deal put his way? He was quite happy to continue riding for his National League side and take guest bookings for Championship sides as well. Think he's left it a little late to make his decision this year (for both his teams), compared to his early decision last year. No matter what his reason(s) is/are this time I think he'll be lucky to get signed again in the future, although it is reported that he's quit the sport!
  16. Read it again, Lynch was only involved on the phone with the people who were really building the team. In saying (about Hans Anderson) "absolutely brilliant, get him in.", doesn't exactly fit in with being 'heavily involved' with building the new team. With the riders they've got it didn't need Jim to give his opinion did it?
  17. Whilst you're talking about team managers, what about the comments made by Jim Lynch in this weeks Speedway Star. 'Shocked at losing his position at Beaumont Park'. Well most team managers in any sport who finish bottom of the league are sacked, didn't he know that! And what about... "I do also have to say that I don't think I was supposed to win that last match against Sheffield." So the riders didn't do that then, talk about blowing your own trumpet! He then continues stirring up the controversy again with, " I do wonder if the plan was that Sheffield would come up to the top league and Leicester would stay on Saturdays - so maybe inadvertently I got in the way of that!" No Jim if that was the plan I'm sure you would have been made aware of it seeing as you're a top manager and can so influence the outcome of meetings. What a total d1ck head!!!!!!
  18. With Vaculik riding there that's a possibility. Could he manage both Sheffield and Leicester now there are different race nights?
  19. If the stance on not letting riders without a Championship average from 2016 ride what about Brady Kurtz or Rohan Tungate, or would they have to have keep their averages from 2015?
  20. Not my preferred option, Scotty did ok for us in the playoff final and was ok in the league meeting he rode for us, but I think he was well under par in the promotion meetings against the Lions. Think it's only a matter of time before Kyle is signed up for next year (Hope so anyway!)
  21. Could Georgie be named as our number 8 if no other Championship team sign him? To stand in for Smith or Shanes if they've other commitments (approved by the FIM). Really good to see the promotion looking to make improvements where possible, but liked Georgie, he tried his best, even when he was outclassed and all that travelling. If he keeps up the effort he showed this year think he'll be one for the future - good luck to him and wish him all the best where ever he ends up riding next year. (So much more about him than that mardy-ar$e JPB)
  22. Howarth Bjerre Wright Proctor Bates Smith Wood That any better?
  23. Think they're going top heavy, but can't see it being either of those two, but can see Wood being the number 7.
