I think they should declare this seasons Premier League null & void........... and really p!ss off the scousers!!!
-
Good to see some TV news coverage of Speedway tonight, even though it was local (Look North BBC), covering Nicki Pedersens introduction to the fans at Owlerton last night. This is what the man brings and it shows how important having riders like him in Britain is.
-
The Monday ones will be probably be away meetings
-
Jordan Stewart will never ride at reserve for you, he's a rider that's improving all the time and will more than likely beat most teams second string riders home and away. As for Auty he's been at Sheffield, good Championship rider, seems to have a bit of an attitude problem and for the first few meetings he was in this year he was struggling to finish a race never mind win it! Todd is more of a team man and he's with The Drillermans outfit so had to be here really. Just hope he gets some heat 2 wins at home. Morris.... well lets just hope he settles at Owlerton, only seen him have one reasonable meeting here and that's when we finished bottom two years ago!

Richard Lawson?
-
No, but have you seen Zmarzlik, Madsen and Lindgren ride this year? Oh and where did they finish in the SGP series?
-
There's posts on the Poole site saying Holder has visa issues so probably won't be riding in Britain next year!
-
There's also the fact that more sport is now available on TV through SKY & BT these days, so people don't have to leave the comfort of their armchairs to watch it.
-
At least they'll be riding Thursdays again, apart from probably one Monday when they might be on telly.
-
Most of his early season scores were very poor, infact he didn't have a decent score until towards the end of May when he started to hit some form, which was mainly when he was guesting for other teams.

CLRC - 1st September

It's been like that for the last 2 years (at least), the thing about the race times is the fact that at least one rider has the confidence to get going. Perhaps it's the fact that it is a 'fast' track and has become "gate and go" as the rider at the front blats on and the other three haven't got the speed to catch them, never mind pass them. That's why I was asking. The thing about yesterday is you've got (supposedly) the best 16 riders in the league, so you should theoretically have the best chance of close racing (which did happen in the last few races). But again if all the riders have the top equipment it equals them up and again the first man out of the gate can wind it on and as long as they keep a good line none of the others will be able to pass them. As with Riss in the final, King passed the other 2 but couldn't get near him. By all means take this to the NSS (sounds like they'll have to if they want a paying audience) it should even it out, but with riders doubling up they'll still be somebody with home track advantage. -

What was wrong with the track then? It didn't look any different to what it has all season. The first half a dozen heats all had times that were up there with the best of the season. Didn't notice many riders lifting or struggling in the bends. If I remember correctly there were only two fallers, Auty who went too wide in bends 1/2 and hit the fence and Morris who lifted in bend 3 and went into the fence. Both down to them as far as I could see. Who were the riders complaining about the track? I saw Morris on at the Clerk of the course after he came down saying there was a problem, but what? He never has liked riding Owlerton. It's a good job Schlein wasn't riding or there would have been more hold-ups! The only track grading that was done was with the chains, no blade or 'wonder wheel', so all they did was spread the shale on the surface, which did appear a bit lumpy. Seen a lot worse surfaces in the GPs', but you don't see them moaning about it, they just get on with it. Granted they're on a lot more money and there's more at stake, but they do what they're paid to do, entertain. The only time the surface did look dangerous was when the track staff unhooked the chains from the back of the tractor and left them on the back straight, had to move them 'tout sweet' before the next heat started about 20 seconds later! -
Before he was injured I'd have said he'd have scored a boatload, but Broc is coming back after quite a lay off and as far as I know this will be his first competitive meeting since that injury, so I don't expect him to be pushing for 21 points. I do hope he does score heavily, but I don't expect it to be a close affair looking at how the other six have ridden technical tracks this season. However I do live in hope of the unexpected!

Probably why they put it on the fixtures page as 'provisional'. Thanks for that I can now make plans accordingly! -

About 4.5 miles north of Owlerton, we didn't have any rain to talk about until 4.15 ish and it really came down hard until 6.30 pm. It just goes to show how localised precipitation can be here in the foothills of the pennines! -
MacDonald hasn't been there that long, it was Nicol who wasn't scoring many at reserve along with Kennedy and then shortly before his injury he had a few good meetings, mainly for teams he was guesting for I might add. Like I've said I hope he comes back with some form but I fear the chances of that are slim! Even if he gets 18 points at Eastbourne what are the other six going to get? Don't think he's going to get us into the playoffs some how. Also I hope the stories about Drew going to Leicester are correct (not seen it confirmed anywhere.).

Think I'll wait and see on that prediction!

Sheffield v. Newcastle 28.08.19
Steve55 replied to Cue Ball's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Yes it was a good call by the management, I take it all back! It did PI$$ it down for 2 hours after my initial post, so even though it had stopped around an hour before the scheduled start the track wouldn't have been in any way good enough for racing. -

Think they might have jumped in a bit quick with this call off. What rain we've had up to know hasn't been as much as they forecast and what's fallen appears to have evaporated very fast. I appreciate what the forecast is and the distances riders/fans would have been travelling, but I think they could have given another couple of hours to firm things up a little. -
Think this will be a backward step personally. Can only see Nicol struggling to get some form after a lay off he's had, a bit like he was for the majority of the season. Let's face it he'd started doing 'OK', but he wasn't exactly flying past the opposition was he? Back at reserve Kemp was showing his worth and having had him riding in the main body as a second string, struggling to get points and obviously having his confidence shot to pieces as a result for most of this season, Sheffield have done him no favours. Hopefully this is not the straw that breaks the camels back, but I think some one will take him on, and Sheffield's management have got that sorted before making this move. I do hope my thoughts on Nicol are wrong and that he come's in and does wonders for us! BTW I don't think that moving Proctor on did the team any harm, he wasn't exactly dragging the team forward was he!

Shame about that, promised so much and then failed at the end, good performance though, better than the show the Rebels put up at Owlerton!
