  1. Looks like this is correct, Machin's notes in tonights programme were critical of Hall having "alledgely injured himself when unloading his van after last Thursdays meeting".In the pits after the meeting tonight it appears Machin sacked Hall and then became embroiled in argument with Halls father and Joel Parsons. There was a lot of finger wagging from Machin and crutch banging from Hall senior. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong! By the way Hoggy did a good job of staying out of the way!
  2. Sorry but I think you missed the gist of my post, ok I know Wells didn't have the best of meetings at Berwick (by the way that's what I meant to put - "at Berwick", as he was riding for Plymouth!) but he was at number 1 & our management don't even consider putting him at 5, when it might be a better option than putting in a fella on his debut, heaping more pressure on him to perform.I take it from your post that you aren't a big fan of Ricky Wells? Personally I wouldn't have missed him this year if he hadn't have signed, he's still not really got to grips with the track here & he doesn't seem to acknowledge the fans when they're getting behind him. He does however seem to do well away on the more technical tracks and I'm sure all the Tigers fans will want him to come through with a maximum from 5 rides on Sunday evening! Also hope that Lawson, Roynon, Hall & the rest, all have an outstanding meeting, otherwise can't see us making the final.
  3. My thoughts exactly about Albin, he's obviously got what it takes, but he does look under powered when he gets into a position where he's looking to make a move. Last night he was really up against it with Lewis Kerr, as did most of our riders, this lads definitely one of the premier leagues 'finds of the season'. He looked a confident/competent rider, on a track where I've certainly not seen him before, soon got the measure of the circuit and his 9 points no doubt helped put the Diamonds in position of advantage for Sundays second leg. As for Ricky he looked his old self out on the shale, but did look a bit quiet when walking around the terraces. I'd have him back, but think Berwick will want him seeing as Kennett isn't really living up to expectations!
  4. Impressed with Richie Worrall tonight, best meeting I've seen him have at Owlerton. Thought he did really well in heat 9 when under pressure from Richard Hall and throughout set an example to the rest of the Diamonds, keeping them in the meeting every time he went on track. Nothing he could do about Richard Hall in heat 15, don't think anyone could have kept Hally behind them in that race he was so determined, brilliant. Richie's a young rider with a fantastic future, bet the Belle Vue management are happy with their investment!
  5. Just looked at the Tigers website and seen that our 'new rider' Adam Roynon appears to be down to ride at 5 tomorrow. The lads only had a few practice laps at Owlerton and that was several weeks ago and they're immediately putting pressure on him to perform! Still they didn't think twice about putting young Albin in that position, and that worked well didn't it! Can't believe the management make decisions like this when we've got Wells, who guested at number one for Berwick the other week and 'track specialist' Richard Hall, riding at 3 & 4. Good luck Adam, the fans are all behind you and wish you well on your debut for the Tigers.
  6. Probably the best guest available that we could have. He's been good in both meetings I've seen him here this year. There's an update on Simon on the web page, says he's looking at a minimum of 8 weeks out and that he's looking to be back for the PLRC! I wish him well. Like I've stated before, it's going to be a baptism of fire for Adam, pity the Dudley meeting was rained off, still if he rides at only a fraction of his best he should still score some valuable points and we will need them come Sunday. Be interesting to see how Richie Worrall rides the track this year, he usually falls off at least once, so it will be a guide to his development/improvement. It's obviously not his favourite place, and all the second halves he used to ride here! Anybody seen a weather forecast for Thursday? - LOL!
  7. Don't doubt that at all Spinny, just thought we might get to know, from the horses mouth as it were, when Ricky might be coming back. Be good to see him on track again where ever he might be racing. On the Klindt versus Kling issue, I'm sure Klindt would probably be the better bet if they were both 'on form', remember Nicolai guesting at Stoke against us a few years ago, riding at 1. Made us look very ordinary that Saturday evening as I remember, when they had to have a delay for the sun, which was in the riders eyes at the start line. Reminded of that during the Berwick meeting when we had a break cos of the sun being low, going into the third bend. Just wondering who's going to be guesting on Thursday, need a big win if we're going to stand any chance, cos we'll no doubt get a pasting up at Brough.
  8. Has the 'Rickster' anything to say on this matter, after all he knows best?
  9. Seen in local press today that Hoggy has stated that they will be looking for a replacement for Simon, but that they are in no rush to make a decision on who that will be. From what he has said Simons leg and ankle are both broken and a specialist surgeon is to be engaged to operate on him. He's now back in Sheffield and I'm sure everyone will join me in sending best wishes for a full and swift recovery.
  10. If you've ever seen Jordan Tyrer ride competitively you'll know why he seems to just practice! Nice lad, who's got the b*lls to get out there and do it, but have to say the guy's a liability in competitive racing! Saw him do 'the wall of death' on the home straight fence two or three years ago, just don't know how he got himself in that unlikely position. He was named as the official number 8 in that great team of last year, but he was no where to be seen after that. Seem to think he got injured practicing at another track. I'd also like to see Martin Smolinski doubling up with Sheffield, he was brilliant in the first meeting of the year at Owlerton and has continued in that form since then.Unfortunately won't his new Elite league average take him out of our reach?
  11. Just put this on another thread, there's a rumour going around that Ricky Kling is being lined up to replace Simon, don't know how true this is. Anybody know any more or anything different?
  12. Heard a rumour that Ricky Kling is the name in the frame for replacing Steady - don't know how true this is, but if any one knows any different please let us know!
  13. Just when things appeared to be looking up Simon breaks his leg in three places and looks like he'll be out for the rest of the season. Must get a replacement and quick, but who you ask? Well on his average perhaps we could look to the Elite league, anyone there that could double up, or if Berwick want to keep Kennett they could release Ricky and then we could have two convalescing riders in our line up. The galling thing is this happened whilst Simon was putting in some practice laps, can't believe it!!!!
  14. This is his chance I must agree, however I think he needs to realise this himself. I really like the guy, love his attitude and commitment, but (IMO) he just seems to be trying too hard of late, especially after they put him at 5. Seems to chase back wheels too much and in the Berwick meeting thought he was going to collect one of their riders (think it was David Bellego) on three occasions before pushing him out of the way from the inside of the 4th bend. Then look what happened in heat 13! Don't like seeing riders get hurt, especially if it's not their fault and it's caused by the reckless riding of others. Riding at reserve should give him the opportunity to build some confidence, especially at home and help him find the best places & times, to attempt passing. This little fella's got loads of potential and I'd love to see him achieve it.
  15. Can't wait for Thursday to see our new rider Adam Roynon ....... riding for Dudley against us! It'll be good for him to have a competitive spin or five before the real deal and it won't get any more difficult than Newcastle. I see him fitting in quite well at 4, putting RH at 5, which is where I think most of the Sheffield posters believe is his home position. This will give him a steady intro and won't put too much pressure on him to produce results as Ricky usually gets some reasonable points at home. All the best to him and sympathy to Jake Knight, hoping he makes a comeback after sorting his disappointment out.
  16. Well after the hammering we took tonight lets hope that they don't keep us waiting too long for the name of our new rider! Hoping he is going to be our saviour 'cos boy do we look like we need one. It's got to be someone worth watching or the gaps on the terraces are going to be huge. If it's only somebody who would make us unbeatable at home. Adam Roynon will be a big gamble, but that's how we started the year, with three relatively unknowns. Adam can do the business, or rather he could, prior to his last injury. Let's hope if it is him he soon gets back in the groove.
  17. Can't see it being Andre as it states a deal's been done and that whilst he's waiting he's not earning. Adam well there's a different story, however as it has been pointed out there wouldn't be any pressure on him to perform initially, but how is his confidence going to be after yet another bad one! Don't get me wrong having seen this guy at his best I'd love him to ride for the Tigers. Rather see him mixing it with the opposition than a bloke riding 20 to 30 yards behind the other three riders!
  18. Seen in Sheffield Star today that Hoggy has said it's vital that tonights meeting with Scunny goes ahead so that the assessed riders get their new averages so that our new rider can be brought into the team! Says that a deal has been agreed with this guy and that all that's stopping him being brought in is the averages. Any idea who it is? Lots of speculation, but who is it? Nothing on the official website though!
  19. BBC weather site forecast for Sheffield 6 - heavy rain until 10 pm! Why is it always Thursdays??????? Now off, after much discussion!
  20. Yes these posts are put on after the meeting, but if you took time to read them the posters are quoting things that are being muted on the terraces during the meeting, at the times when the management are making their decisions! Guess that makes YOU number 1 Richard of the week!
  21. Wells & Hall aren't a good combination, last night they produced 8 out of a possible 15 points riding together and it was 11 last week, hardly what you'd call a 'nailed on' match winning combination is it! Agree with you fully Thommo this should've been sorted at beginning of season(who should be riding at 5), again if this can be seen by the vast majority on the terraces it only shows how inept the team management really is. Thanks for the replies from the Worky fans gives me hope that Andre might pull on a Sheffield race jacket next week! (Please, please Mr. Machin)
  22. It's obvious from what happened last night that we need a team manager who knows what they're doing. We didn't deserve to get a point last night and only the misfortune of Bech falling on the last bend (for whatever reason) gave us one. If it is so obvious to the fans on the terraces who needs to be in what heat, why can't he see it down in the pits! It's not that difficult, so get some one in with the experience to do it. Eric Boocock was there last night - any chance of him coming back? Damien Koppe has vastly improved over the last two weeks, his pass on Lemon in 13 was brilliant, pity he couldn't hold onto the bike going into the next lap! Jake Knight unfortunately must go, he's just not ready for the premier league yet, even though he did show promise in his first couple of meetings. What's happened to Richard Hall? Started the year like he could be World Champion (LOL), since his injury looks like the old RH from last year! Still putting plenty of effort into his long track season though! As for Andre Compton making a come back...... the way Richard Lawson was running around after him in the pits during free practice suggested there's more likely hood of him going back to join his pals at Worky than Sheffield. Any one at Workington like to comment on this... any riders that you're looking to replace? I'd certainly like to have him back in the team at Sheffield, would certainly make us stronger at home!
  23. Think you could be right if Chris Schramm rides like he did in the British Semi final. Haven't really seen Jake Anderson, but if Jake Knight rides like he did last week, he won't be scoring many. Hoggy said he was having problems with his engine, hope it's sorted for tonight! He'll have to take one of Facu's rides - won't he? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
