Think this is a great idea by the Bandits & Tigers. I'm sure they'll be quite a few riders wanting to be involved and here's hoping that they make a decent figure to pass onto Ricky and his family. Wishing you well Rickster, keep pushing onto the finish line and get back with us. Hope to see him trackside soon.

Here's really hoping, Robbie Kessler is apparently mentoring & helping him out, so he's got the best that he could possibly want in his corner there.Think this shows some intent for next year, so that's good news. -

Think somebody better start a thread titled Sheffield 2014. Is there any one out there really bothered about anything clashing with the remaining Tigers fixtures for this year? -
Edinburgh V Sheffield (pl) 8/8/13 @ 7.30pm

It would be good to see a sequence of photos' leading up to the one shown in the press. I wasn't there so have no idea of what did actually happen so cannot comment on the incident. However I have said before on these pages that Vissing is an enthusiastic rider who sometimes borders on the reckless and have seen him on two occasions on the third bend at Owlerton in circumstances that make me wonder what's going on in his head. One involved Paul Cooper and the other Ashley Birks, both of these incidents could have involved serious injuries to the named riders, but fortunately didn't. Can't comment on this occasion as I've said, but this won't have made Claus any more popular at Sheffield! -

Neil Machin has no doubt been looking for replacements, but apart from the money, although guaranteed won't be the best wages in the league, why would any rider want to ride at Sheffield - No chance of winning anything and with the 'hex' that's apparently on the team, every chance of getting injured! Joking apart, at this stage of the season I don't think the management are that bothered about who the 1 to 7 or should I say 1 to 6 are. Don't think I've seen Sheffield lose so many meetings at home before and apathy seems to rule - OK! Only last night comment was made during the Peterborough Lakeside meeting that certain riders would have benefited from doubling up in the premier league, Fisher & Hougaard being two of the stand out candidates. With the points we've got to play with I would have thought we may have been able to accommodate both of them! Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong - again! As it happens our semi permanent replacement number 1 Richard Lawson had a reasonable away meeting and with him being relatively local (Chesterfield) and being a big buddy of Andre, I think he likes riding for us as his 'third team'. Although there seems to be the riders out there (for other teams at least) it appears that we can't or they can't to come an agreement for them to ride for us. So it will be a Sheffield select for the rest of the season as I see it. -
Last two years yes, remember 2011, that was a good team - Parker, Auty, Ashworth! I've no doubt had it been on the play off system we would have won it that year. They were worth the entry fee then, pity Shane Parker went home.

Another one required now! What's happening to Sheffield this year? I know Joe fell off his mountain bike the other week - did he fall off the mountain as well? It's been obvious that he's been down on confidence, that seems to have been since Steady got injured, before that he seemed to be well on the pace and won quite a bit with Steady covering his back. Seems to be that all the team and anyone connected with it are prone to getting injured this year! 2013 could be our jinx! Could well be that this week as well as having A Guest at number one, we'll also have him at 6 & 7 and R/R at number 2!

To be honest Spinny for three quarters of the meeting most home riders were struggling with the track and all night it was gate and go (gone). When he got the gate in heat 12 the track wasn't a problem. The stock car meeting on the flooded track can't have helped matters and that was quite obvious down the back straight, where both Compton and Koppe both attempted passes that they really should have completed. Not a big fan of Wells myself but he was no worse than most home riders on Thursday and I'm sure he'll do better than most up at Brough tomorrow!

Only saying on Thursday how I was looking forward to seeing Ricky back in a Tigers race jacket for the Newcastle & Glasgow meetings. He was brilliant in the GB v Australia test the previous week. Back in Top form and now this. Well this guy is a real fighter on the track and I'm sure he'll be giving it 100% in hospital. Come on Rickster we need you back at Sheffield next year! Here's hoping and praying for a full recovery. -
Think Stan's hit the nail on the head. It was quite obvious from Neil Machins programme notes on Thursday that he'd had a fall out with Rich Hall over his withdrawal from the away meeting at Rye House. Especially after he had a poor meeting at home against them on the Thursday before! It looked quite obvious after that meeting where Halls priorities are - a couple of laps on his speedway bike and two outings on the long track machine. Well good luck with the long track series Rich, you'll have more time to spend on it now! As for a number one, Cameron Woodward looked really good the other night - top quality - but he was riding for his country - just hope he would reproduce that week on week. Not Lewis Bridger as I've already said. MPT for Haines, could be a case of pot & kettle! Although Haines is still struggling would Palm-Toft be any better? Obviously he's not had the form he finished with last year, otherwise Rob wouldn't have ditched him. However if we replaced Haines I don't think many would be surprised or upset the way he's been riding lately, would they?
-
Also must add, why Lewis Bridger? Did really well tonight 4 plus a bonus point! Ok he was up against decent opposition, but as a number 1 he will be. He never looked comfortable on the track, well to be honest apart from Eastbourne I've never seen him look comfortable any where. Oh and didn't he do well in Prague for team GB. Sorry but just can't see him doing a job for the Tigers as a number one. He's got plenty of spirit and ambition, but not at Owlerton for me thanks.
-
Looks like this is correct, Machin's notes in tonights programme were critical of Hall having "alledgely injured himself when unloading his van after last Thursdays meeting".In the pits after the meeting tonight it appears Machin sacked Hall and then became embroiled in argument with Halls father and Joel Parsons. There was a lot of finger wagging from Machin and crutch banging from Hall senior. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong! By the way Hoggy did a good job of staying out of the way!

Sorry but I think you missed the gist of my post, ok I know Wells didn't have the best of meetings at Berwick (by the way that's what I meant to put - "at Berwick", as he was riding for Plymouth!) but he was at number 1 & our management don't even consider putting him at 5, when it might be a better option than putting in a fella on his debut, heaping more pressure on him to perform.I take it from your post that you aren't a big fan of Ricky Wells? Personally I wouldn't have missed him this year if he hadn't have signed, he's still not really got to grips with the track here & he doesn't seem to acknowledge the fans when they're getting behind him. He does however seem to do well away on the more technical tracks and I'm sure all the Tigers fans will want him to come through with a maximum from 5 rides on Sunday evening! Also hope that Lawson, Roynon, Hall & the rest, all have an outstanding meeting, otherwise can't see us making the final.
-
My thoughts exactly about Albin, he's obviously got what it takes, but he does look under powered when he gets into a position where he's looking to make a move. Last night he was really up against it with Lewis Kerr, as did most of our riders, this lads definitely one of the premier leagues 'finds of the season'. He looked a confident/competent rider, on a track where I've certainly not seen him before, soon got the measure of the circuit and his 9 points no doubt helped put the Diamonds in position of advantage for Sundays second leg. As for Ricky he looked his old self out on the shale, but did look a bit quiet when walking around the terraces. I'd have him back, but think Berwick will want him seeing as Kennett isn't really living up to expectations!
-
Impressed with Richie Worrall tonight, best meeting I've seen him have at Owlerton. Thought he did really well in heat 9 when under pressure from Richard Hall and throughout set an example to the rest of the Diamonds, keeping them in the meeting every time he went on track. Nothing he could do about Richard Hall in heat 15, don't think anyone could have kept Hally behind them in that race he was so determined, brilliant. Richie's a young rider with a fantastic future, bet the Belle Vue management are happy with their investment!
-
Just looked at the Tigers website and seen that our 'new rider' Adam Roynon appears to be down to ride at 5 tomorrow. The lads only had a few practice laps at Owlerton and that was several weeks ago and they're immediately putting pressure on him to perform! Still they didn't think twice about putting young Albin in that position, and that worked well didn't it! Can't believe the management make decisions like this when we've got Wells, who guested at number one for Berwick the other week and 'track specialist' Richard Hall, riding at 3 & 4. Good luck Adam, the fans are all behind you and wish you well on your debut for the Tigers.
-
Probably the best guest available that we could have. He's been good in both meetings I've seen him here this year. There's an update on Simon on the web page, says he's looking at a minimum of 8 weeks out and that he's looking to be back for the PLRC! I wish him well. Like I've stated before, it's going to be a baptism of fire for Adam, pity the Dudley meeting was rained off, still if he rides at only a fraction of his best he should still score some valuable points and we will need them come Sunday. Be interesting to see how Richie Worrall rides the track this year, he usually falls off at least once, so it will be a guide to his development/improvement. It's obviously not his favourite place, and all the second halves he used to ride here! Anybody seen a weather forecast for Thursday? - LOL!
-
Don't doubt that at all Spinny, just thought we might get to know, from the horses mouth as it were, when Ricky might be coming back. Be good to see him on track again where ever he might be racing. On the Klindt versus Kling issue, I'm sure Klindt would probably be the better bet if they were both 'on form', remember Nicolai guesting at Stoke against us a few years ago, riding at 1. Made us look very ordinary that Saturday evening as I remember, when they had to have a delay for the sun, which was in the riders eyes at the start line. Reminded of that during the Berwick meeting when we had a break cos of the sun being low, going into the third bend. Just wondering who's going to be guesting on Thursday, need a big win if we're going to stand any chance, cos we'll no doubt get a pasting up at Brough.
-
Has the 'Rickster' anything to say on this matter, after all he knows best?
-
Seen in local press today that Hoggy has stated that they will be looking for a replacement for Simon, but that they are in no rush to make a decision on who that will be. From what he has said Simons leg and ankle are both broken and a specialist surgeon is to be engaged to operate on him. He's now back in Sheffield and I'm sure everyone will join me in sending best wishes for a full and swift recovery.
-
If you've ever seen Jordan Tyrer ride competitively you'll know why he seems to just practice! Nice lad, who's got the b*lls to get out there and do it, but have to say the guy's a liability in competitive racing! Saw him do 'the wall of death' on the home straight fence two or three years ago, just don't know how he got himself in that unlikely position. He was named as the official number 8 in that great team of last year, but he was no where to be seen after that. Seem to think he got injured practicing at another track. I'd also like to see Martin Smolinski doubling up with Sheffield, he was brilliant in the first meeting of the year at Owlerton and has continued in that form since then.Unfortunately won't his new Elite league average take him out of our reach?
-
Just put this on another thread, there's a rumour going around that Ricky Kling is being lined up to replace Simon, don't know how true this is. Anybody know any more or anything different?
-
Heard a rumour that Ricky Kling is the name in the frame for replacing Steady - don't know how true this is, but if any one knows any different please let us know!
-
Just when things appeared to be looking up Simon breaks his leg in three places and looks like he'll be out for the rest of the season. Must get a replacement and quick, but who you ask? Well on his average perhaps we could look to the Elite league, anyone there that could double up, or if Berwick want to keep Kennett they could release Ricky and then we could have two convalescing riders in our line up. The galling thing is this happened whilst Simon was putting in some practice laps, can't believe it!!!!
