  1. Yep, it's the BRITSH GP so why do we have to have the Welsh national anthem first before the real thing. Thought Wales was still part of UK!
  2. Yeah, scored as many points as the wildcard British Champion from 2 less rides!
  3. Not many FTG races last night, some good competitive racing and some decent passing, not by Proctor though!
  4. Know exactly what you mean, I had a similar occurrence earlier on this thread!
  5. No, I made an error! Agree, he looked promising last week riding for Berwick, 4, paid 7 points for what I think was his first outing at Owlerton. If he can do all four laps of a race like he does the first two, then he's real potential at this track IMO.
  6. Terrible shame for Howarth and the Tigers chances in the pairs on Friday. Good news regarding the signing of Graversen at reserve, hopefully he'll do the business and think he'll have his work cut out on Thursday against the Comets with both Howarth and possibly Bates missing from the line up.
  7. Looks like Graversen is coming in for Branford, promotion also talking to Wood in the pits after the meeting, give him a go at Peterborough tomorrow if possible!
  8. Thanks, stopped raining here about half an hour ago as well!
  9. Where's this from? According to official web page it's still on!
  10. Me neither, not after what I've been watching for the last few weeks. I'm approx 5 miles from track and it's been raining pretty much continuously all day here!
  11. The 6th July reserved date has now gone due to it being SWC time (no meeting scheduled for that date!) and essential stadium maintenance. Had this before, is it that some safety certificate has to be re-newed at this specific time? If not why can't this essential work be done on another day, say in between mid October and mid March. Crazy if you ask me!
  12. The last time this happened was the Ipswich meeting (another Thursday home track) although the track was apparently ok, and from where I was it looked fine, the rain which was forecast to have abated by then, continued as "light drizzle" resulting in the meeting not going ahead due to visibility issues for the riders. The BBC forecast I saw this morning showed rain over South Yorkshire all day, but the forecaster did say there would would be dry spells during parts of the day. Think the promotion are having a bit of a gamble due to the rain - off situation looking like it is going to present issues further along the line. Can't blame them really.
  13. Is that because you're wrong and cannot defend what you've posted?
  14. The issue of who's going to be the Tigers number 7 seems to have been side-lined by the promotion, in June 10th S/S it was reported that Shanes was to be signed to replace JPB, as long as he wasn't going to miss too many dates. That was supposedly according to Damian Bates. Since then he has ridden for us once, as a guest and was brilliant, contributing to a very good away win. The other guests (with all due respect to them for turning out and riding) might as well not have bothered. With someone decent in that position we could well have won at both Edinburgh and Newcastle and to a lesser extent Scunthorpe. If not signing Shanes then someone's going to have to put an arm around JPB and tell him to man up (soon be 17) and get back out on track and try harder. Ok he's not been showing his NL form in the Championship, but he's a much better rider than the guys that have been guesting (other than Shanes), and would have no doubt put points into the Tigers totals of the last few meetings. If the promotion wants some silverware this year they're going to have to sort out this situation and it's fast coming down on them as the 28 day facility is coming to its end!
  15. Joe Lawlor guesting for Sheffield, Shanes not interested in a place at Sheffield? Or is JPB going to come back? If he was going to come back then surely he'd be in the team tomorrow! Panthers have a real chance for revenge as long as their top five (with the exception of Holder) perform better than they did on Sunday.
  16. Any news on the team line ups for Thursdays' meeting? Would love to hear that James Shanes had been signed for the remainder of the season. Made all the difference at Peterborough on Sunday.
  17. Thanks I really did enjoy yesterday evening and taking the 3 points was a bonus. Was a little disappointed with Harris' performance, apart from his TR in heat 6 but it was good racing between him and Kyle Howarth. Again he was brilliant in 10 when he did a great pass on Bates and Bjerre in one swoop. Think he might keep a few fans coming through the door! Got really tight up to heat 13 when I thought we were about to capitulate just like last Sunday at Scunny, but two fantastic rides from Josh Bates got us past the winning line. Showground is a great venue, but on a hot day you really need more than one person behind the bar, queuing for 15 minutes to get a drink wasn't good for either customers nor business. Fortunately that was before the start of the meeting, so we didn't miss any of the racing which was in the main good stuff. Jack Holder, what a rider, bet there's a few teams wishing they'd signed him this year. However when it counted Josh G did the business, with a little help from young Master Bates!
  18. Has all the ingredients for an entertaining 15 heats of speedway. Should be worth the entrance fee for the Harris v Grajczonek encounters alone. Looking forward to this encounter as it is my fathers day treat, (chauffeured there and back, with entrance fee paid), what could be better. Win or lose as long as the Tigers make a fist of it I'll be happy.
  19. Answer to this is simple, book Shanes as a guest for the remainder of the facility, if he performs to an accepted level, sign him, if he doesn't bring back JPB and persist with him.
  20. I believe that the concession for students (£10) was applicable up to 2014 and was stopped the second year of the Bates/Mole promotion.
  21. Last weeks postponement had a lot to do with the state of the track apparently. After the stock cars meeting it was said to be a bit of a mess. Showers been forecast throughout the day, been cloudy from time to time, but no rain. Lets hope the tracks been repaired to a good state. It's been quite good the last couple of meetings and there appears to be quite a reasonable amount of shale on it. Been peppered with lumps of the stuff hitting me for the last two meetings, more than I've had hit me over the last two years!
  22. After getting the score back to 39 a-piece can't believe what happened in heats 14 and 15. Our reserve (Rob Branford) and Todd Kurtz had too many poor rides conceding 6, 4 - 2 heats scores to the Scorpions. They obviously wanted it more than us especially at the end, very disappointing for the Sheffield fans, not the same performance from the Tigers as the one they gave in May. Aarnio was a bit of a trump card at reserve, but if he continues scoring like this he won't be there for long, we'll see if Wilkinson can perform as well when he's at number 6.
  23. Our little group were talking about bringing Shanes in last year to replace Greaves. Don't know if he'll be any better than JPB, but he's definitely an exciting rider with decent prospects. We'd like to see him get a team place at Sheffield and like someone already said when he's not available bring in JPB, unless he signs for another team! (Scunthorpe??) According to his commitments he'll not be guesting for Sheffield on Sunday at Scunthorpe! What do we know about Nathan Stoneman? Can't be any worse than Ryan McDonald. Did he ride in the Cradley challenge match last year?
  24. Don't the promotors/organisers of the Stock cars have a responsibility/obligation to put things right with the track once their event is finished? If my memory serves me correct there was an issue with a rut in the middle of the 3rd and 4th bends a few weeks ago, that was put down to a previous stock car meeting. There always seems to be issues when stock cars have been on! After speedway the track staff are at it for hours after the finish sorting things, does that happen after the stock cars?
  25. Thanks for your invitation, but been up several times before, only the last time was 2011. Used to travel up with my lads who unfortunately lost interest until this year, for some reason. Now they take me! Don't ask me what it was but the whole evening seemed better than years/times before, other than the fourth bend on the track, always seems to be problems there. Thought the interview with Steve Worralls' little lad was great, made it worth having a break!
